A great camera
This is the new version of the EOS Rebel 2000 (they called it "K2" instead of "2K", I suppose in order to avoid giving the impression that the camera is 4 years out of date, which it is not).

It is simply a great camera at a great price.It works as well as any 35mm camera on the market, has a reasonably fast winder, and best of all it takes all of the huge variety of EF Canon lenses.It is actually very light, so you can carry it around without fatigue, or you can bulk it up by adding the extended grip (which gives it a very nice feel).

The zoom lenses are a little slow.I recommend that you get the body only, and start with the 50mm f/2.8 MKII lens, which is a steal at about $70.Together, they make an outstanding, affordable, high-quality package for those of us who still love film more than digital. ... Read more

Great pictures for a camera in this class
I exposed some beautiful pictures with this camera before I bought an SLR camera. Great color and detail for a point and shoot. Obviously, if you want more creative control I would recommend an SLR. But for a point and shoot, it yields good results. One complaint, my camera began to malfunction a while back, rewinding midroll and double exposing--probably my fault, it has been dropped a couple of times ;)

Good buy for the price
For the price this is good buy. I have little kids and I need an inexpensive camera I can throw in my purse for those cute little moments. This camera is small and easy to use. The zoom makes it more versatile than other inexpensive camers. I had no problem loading the camera and the few rolls of film I have gotten back look great.

camera for the dummies
I like this camera. I took it to Ireland with me and we just snapped away. I took the film to a cheap department store to get it processed and the pictures are wonderful. They are clear and persise. If I loose this camera or drop it I won't have a heart attack. It didn't cost that much to begin with. I run though the batteries a little sooner. But this is because I play with the zoom lens a lot. Super Camera
I've owned 2 previous SLR's, an Olympus and a Canon Rebel. Both of these cameras produced great photos. The Nikon N55 has surpassed every expectation. An instruction book is finally written in plain english. I did a lot of research and believe me the N55 is worth more than its retail price. The photos produced in the auto modes are exceptional. I was willing to invest as much as $500 in an SLR, but after researching I found that no camera was worth the additional money. The cost-benefit of the N55 is tremendous. I can't express how happy I am with this camera.

I recommend this camera.
It's easy to use. It's light weight. It takes great pictures too! At first,I was disappointed because of the plastic body, but I later enjoyed the fact that this is a light weight camera. I also enjoy the automatic focusing and the easy film loading. The 55N has a built in flash that pops up automatically when the light is not sufficient or if extra light is needed to soften a picture. I would recommend the additonal purchase of a "circular polaring filter" because it greatly enhances your photos. You can find one on Amazon. This is a sofisticated camera that is easy to use and has made me a better photographer. I highly recommend this camera.

Nikon N55
I have a digital camera I love to pieces. And now that I've mastered that I thought I'd try an SLR camera. The camera has a auto mode on it for beginners and as you learn more you can try other things, like shutter speed, apature settings and all kinds of new things. You can even do multiple exposure to create pictures that look like ghost like images. Also it's 28-80 mm. lens, unlike most of your camera's- like Canon which is 35-80 mm. And it's light and is easy to use! I'd recommend this for anyone looking into buying an SLR camera.

Nikon Quality at a Great Price!
Just when I thought that Nikon did not have a camera to compete with the Canon Rebel 2000, I discovered the N-55. This is a camera that compares favorably with the Canon, even in price. It has that famous Nikon "feel" and smooth operation that Nikon users have enjoyed for years. The auto-focus lens works smoothly, and the pictures are great. This camera is very affordable as well as easy to use. I don't think you can go wrong with either camera, they are both comparably priced and both give good performance. It comes down to personal preference for either Nikon or Canon.

It's awesome and it's a Nikon!
I have owned two other 35mm SLR cameras. The first was a Nikon FM (fully manual camera) and the second was a Cannon Rebel E (similar to the Nikon N55, in terms of features). I loved the Nikon FM camera and have always wanted to return to a Nikon product. After I lost my Canon, I switched to Nikon again.

This is a great camera. It's light and the most compact 35mm SLR camera I have seen. One can choose between fully manual mode (great for complete creative control) or fully automated mode (for the point and shoot crowd). The N55 also has shutter-priority and aperature priority modes as well as special settings for close-up shots, landscape shots, and sports shots--to name a few.

It is a very versatile camera, focuses sharply and quickly, and is a great-looking SLR. I get compliments on the pictures I take with it, but would recommend Kodak film only! ... Read more

wonderful camera, lens
I needed a small camera with a 28 mm lens. The other choice was an Olympus stylus epic, fixed 28 mm. But for travel the zoom is great. I also took photos with my 5 megapixel camera. there is no comparison. used Fuji superia 200 film, amazing colors, detail, even the kodak photo cd blew away the Dig. And the batteries never die (unlike a dig). destined to be a clasic like its previous incarnataion.

very very good to me.
I've gone through around ten rolls of film, and the results are really clear. rarely have I seen this camera on the street I would guess most purchases today are digital cameras. I own both. but after the many request for copies of the clear photos from the t-4. I now use it all the time. I really enjoy the remote control,with a tripod.\ get close to subject when shooting, and you will look like a pro.its a good camera, and its easy to use. and for 200 dollars you will be very happy.

What's the Big Deal?
Yes, it's nice to have a 28 mm lens on an auto-everything camera, but other than that, I don't really understand what the big deal (the raves of other reviewers) is with this camera. The pictures are not any sharper than with my Olympus Stylus Zoom, the exposures are not that great under many conditions, it is very difficult -- if not impossible -- to stop the zoom where you want to in the middle of its range, and -- worst of all for me -- the camera comes pre-set with a printable (wrong) date, that unless you reset or erase it will ruin all of your photos!! I stupidly took this camera on vacation without testing it first and shot eleven rolls of film with it. I sure wish I had taken my Olympus instead.

New Kyocera Yashica Zoom
A really superb camera, the Carl Zeiss 28-70 zoom alone incredible, I,ve owned it for about 5 weeks now, did not have a chance to use it , did that today and had the results shot on Fuji 200 done at a one hour lab, when I opened the envelope and took a peek, it was hard to believe.
This camera can easily to stand up to any SLR or digital. Exposures were great, I love the feature of being able to underexpose or overexpose by 1 1/2 stops with ease.
It is also a great looking camera.
In some on line reviews it has been criticised for the shutter and the preflash, yes, the shutter is very sensitive, it does emit a preflash in a dark place to get the range, I got used to it very quickly, just inform your subjects it preflashes, thats it, you will get a second flash, no one gets very upset and it works well.
This is not an inexpensive camera for a 28 to 70 lens, but, its worth every penny, you,ll get it back in gorgeous photographs, much better than the average run of the mill PS will do, if you want a great camera, buy it.

Superior Camera for the same money as Nikon, Canon & Co.
As somebody who travels a fair amount I always like to have a camera ready to take with me. During my last trip to the tropics I took my aging Pentax Espio zoom with me which unfortunately packed up half way through the trip. Knowing that I needed to get a new camera I made a list of my needs which are:

Compact dimensions
Sharp lens
Robust
Value for money
Good zoom lens range.

First off I had to decide where I stood on the Digital vs Film camera debate. This was fairly easily resolved as it is clear that Digital cameras are still some years away in terms of image resolution and cost. My view then is that my new camera would be film-based and if it lasted until Digital overtook then that would work out quite neatly. In other words I'm expecting this to be the last film camera I will buy.

Then I had a look at the available film options and the field narrowed down very quickly. In this sector of the market the quality brands are Leica, Contax and Rollei by virtue of superior optics. Nikon, Canon, Minolta, Olympus and Pentax are in the next group; don't get too carried away by these names - even though they make superb SLR cameras they tend to out-source the production of their compact cameras to China, Malaysia etc. fair enough but don't expect the high level optics the SLRs give. Compact cameras are generally sold on features (length of zoom etc.) not quality of lens. People only find out about this after purchase so it's not a key sales driver. It is however the most important aspect of getting good pictures which is what this is largely about(!)

Taking the three quality brands then: Contax cameras use Carl Zeiss lenses which are generally regarded by many pros as the best in the world, prices however are high. Rollei models seemed expensive with a lesser reputation than Contax for optics. The styling on the Leicas (C1, C2 and C3)is very "clunky" - they're trying for a retro look and failing but the optics are highly regarded. Downsides all round and not an easy decision to make. I was edging towards the Leica C3 (worth checking out despite styling issues) when a helpful sales assistant pointed out the Yashica. This was interesting for the following reasons:

The lens is a Carl Zeiss T* lens as in the Contax range (Contax, Yashica and Carl Zeiss are all owned by Kyocera Corp.). *This is just about the highest quality lens which can be bought regardless of money*. As well as pin-sharp precision it is also a faster lens that many others including the Leica.
The zoom on the lens starts at 28mm which means you get a full wide-angle range. More useful that the more common 35mm.
The camera is compact and nicely styled. Controls are well designed.
The price far undercuts all of the other models.

While not having quite the cachet of Leica or Contax this camera is in the same league of quality. The results I have had from this camera are better than I had hoped and make the pictures from my old Pentax look rather second rate. My dealer also informs me that many pros use this camera for fast, spontaneous shots and the results are indistinguishable from SLR quality.

Great camera for the price.
I got this camera for christmas last year and was immediately impressed at how easy it was to use. I've had a few months now to try out all the features and can honestly say the auto-focus modes are a lifesaver. When your just a beginning photographer they come in very handy. It gives you more freedom to concentrate on what you are taking the picture of. Even beyond the beginner stage it allows you to catch people or places in the momment without worrying about your camera settings. Capturing real emotion when it happens is one of the most important things anyways. Isn't it?
Anyway, five auto-focus modes(of which the auto-focus is extremly fast), and five user-defined modes(for those of us who are more experienced) cover pretty much any situation you will ever encounter. Very light weight. I shot a wedding the other day(the pics came out amazing without any filters or extra flashes) and never got tired of having it around my neck. Its got plenty of other great features too(red eye reduction, ect.). Check out the specs.
Bottom line is that its a great camera for anyone from beginner to semi-professional, and for the price its a great deal. Plus its a very good looking camera.
The only thing I would recomend is upgrading the lens at some time, because the 28-90mm lens requires me to get a little too close to my subjects. Thats just a personal preference though.

I really enjoy this camera.

Very ergonomic, completely flexible, full of features (including auto-bracketing, multi-frame advance, pre-programmed settings for typical scenes (night, portrait, etc.), manual modes), good flash, 28-90mm zoom, easy to read lcd screen on the back. To top it all off it's a VERY light load, yet sturdy!

And most importantly, the pictures are absolutely beautiful.

If you're serious about learning real photography at any pace, pick this thing up. You'll feel like a dog who just walked into a meat plant.

My camera dont work
I have purchased this camera and it stop of working after 3 months, (I wrote The first review on amazon for this camera) I have lost my money :(

I purchased my canon Rebel Ti with the 28-90 lens from
Wolf Camera in Charlotte, NC and I have been very happy with it. Previously I have owned and still own and use two different models of Minoltas, an XP-700 and a 400Si. I operate a small one man photography busines from my home and all three of these camera get a real workout. The canon is the new top of the hill user camera for me at this time. Clear, Clear, Clear!!!
The pictures are just incredible! Excellent!

Did I get the same camera?
I was recently forced to shop for a new camera when my Vivitar PZ8000 broke down after years of clear, quality pictures. My main goal was to find a camera that could produce consistently clear pictures. Plus, it has to be simple. I don't like to spend a lot of time analyzing the light, etc. I want to be able to grab the camera, turn it on, and quickly take a picture. So when I saw the other reviews for the Pentax IQZoom 170SL, I thought I had found the camera I was looking for. Everyone raved about the clarity, the zoom and the simplicity of this camera. It seemed perfect, so I bought it.

Now I'm left wondering if I got the same camera as the other reviewers. I've taken 5 or 6 rolls of film with very mixed results. Maybe 25% of the pictures are beautifully clear, as I had hoped and expected. Landscapes turned out better than the rest. About 50% of the pictures were average and basically acceptable. But then about 25% of the pictures were terrible, especially those with people as the main focus. I took an entire roll of film at my brother's wedding, and all but a handfull are so blurred that the people are almost unrecognizable. And I don't just mean that the people were blurring, the entire photo was bad.

There are a lot of flash options, etc. on the camera, and maybe I just haven't figured out when to use the features. And I'll be the first to admit that I'm not especially careful at setting everything up. But I've never had this problem with other cameras. Unfortunately, I waited too long to return the camera because I kept hoping that the pictures would improve. I'm planning on selling it. This camera left me so disappointed that I don't trust it to capture the memories of my vacations, etc.

EXCELLENT POINT AND SHOOT CAMERA..
I bought this camera just in time for my son's birthday party. I don't even have to see the manual to use this camera.. it's just a breeze too operate. The camera felt just right on my hand, lightweight and just at the right size (compared with my previous Pentax IQ-200 which is too bulky and heavy looking).
I used the Kodak 400 spd and the result came out absolutely beautiful.. the color is vibrant and not blurry at all. No more red eyed and dark picture. Definetely worth the money spend!! I will recommended this camera to everyone..

Takes a beating
Pentax point and shoots are extremely reliable cameras, and this one has more zoom than many SLR zoom kits come with! They are also very durable. While playing with one at the camera store that I work at, I dropped it on my foot! I picked it up, dusted it off, and still worked just fine. Just be careful not to knock into things when you have your zoom extended!

One word of warning: with so much zoom you have to be careful not to outshoot your flash. Zoom in to your heart's delight outdoors in bright sunlight but under low light keep in mind that your flash is only good for up to about 10 feet. You should be fine shooting with a nice 400 speed film in most lighting situations, I recommend Fuji.

A wonderful camera for taking pictures of kids!!!!
This camera is amazing!! The zoom range is more than adequate for amateur use and is perfect for taking pictures of my kids. I can get those close ups without getting so close up that they stop what they're doing to look at me like with other cameras. I've taken pictures of them across the room and I've also used it at a football game to zoom in on my nephew scoring a touchdown. I can see the expression on his face all the way from the stands! All of the pictures are beautiful, and the zoom helps eliminate photos that have all that unwanted "junk" around the subject. This helps the pictures look more professional and less amateur like. I use Kodak 800 Speed film because using the zoom with lower speed films can sometimes make the pictures darker than I like.

a great buy!
I received this camera as a gift, and it has surpassed all my expectations! There are 6 zoom levels, a timer, and 5 modes (nighttime, portrait, still life, and motion are the only ones I've used). I've gotten 3 rolls of film developed, and the quality is AMAZING. My old Panasonic would zoom in well, but the developed pictures were really blurry. With the Canon Sureshot 115u, there is no blur whatsoever, even on the furthest zoom setting. An excellent buy.

Amazing quality with great ease of use
This is a very simple camera to use. The results are excellent. I mostly use 800 speed films and that might contribute to the vivid colors. But I have a Nikon N50 SLR with Quantraray lens and 115u gives me quality pictures which are as good as if not better, N50. I tried night close-ups, low-light, action and general pictures. Interesting thing is that, I found Walmart development better than any other place. We usually use, Walmart one day service. They use Fuji machine vs Kodak at most other places.

Far Exceeds My Expectations
Bought this camera to replace one I had actually worn out! I run a lot of film through a camera in a year. This point and shoot camera gave me sharp pictures with good color on 400ASA film, indoors with flash. The flash was effective to 17 feet away. I put 200 ASA film in and shot pictures both indoors and out. Results were more than satisfactory. I plan to take this camera to Italy with me instead of my SLR. The zoom is smooth, and the image in the viewfinder is very close to actual picture. I love it! Worth every penny!

Olympus Zoom 170
I have owned quite a few cameras in my life, and feel this is one of the best I have come across. The zoom is excellent, and so far, only two rolls of film used, I have had zero failures. The buttons are a little bit small, and I just need to get used to that, the zoom is easy to use. The feel of the camera is good, despite its small size, it fits well in the hand. The point and shoot era is here, and all the years of my using a Nikon 35mm slr seem to be over. This is just too simple and easy. To go back to the changing lenses, carrying all the baggage, etc hardly seems worth the effort if the end result is as good or better.

Great Camera with excellent zoom
This is simply a great camera. I have used it for over 2 years. I bought it at buy.com when it was newly released. We bought it primarily for the zoom. The zoom is simply excellent. This is one of the best point and shoot i have used. I have used Canon and Minolta before. The controls are all conveniontly placed and the zoom works great. I have never missed a picture.

Simple point and shoot. Awsome zoom. Pictures are consistenly sharp and clear. I'd recommend it, specially for travel when a digital camera just doesn't have enough memory to hold so many pics.

Great camera - my 2nd Stylus
Love it! I had my first Olympus Stylus for YEARS. After dropping my first camera way too many times (over many many years), I finally had to replace it. I was sticking with the Olympus Stylus. Like the first one, this camera also takes great pictures - especially close up people-pictures. I always use 200 film and get great results every time. Call me lucky. The best polaroid camera so far
The last polaroid camera I owned was in the early 70's. I remember squeezing the sides of the shutter button to get a "yes" or a "no" in my view finder before I could take the picture. I also remember pushing single flash bulbs into the flash pocket in front of the camera. Taking a picture with a polaroid was always an event. Despite the fact that this was the only instant camera around, I always felt I had to take my time to get the best picture possible. And, I didn't want to waste precious film as it cost so much. And, it was all black and white (which now have an archival quality to them).

It was with this nostalgia that I purchased this camera and I was delighted. First of all, I love the new compact, sleek design. The camera is still fairly large and heavy. The photo quality is good but not great. No more peeling film or inserting flash bulbs. There are some sophisticated extras on this camera but my favorite is the auto-timer, so now I can take photos of myself. I lent it to a friend who needed to take photos of bridesmaid gowns she was considering to show her sister who was getting married and my friend was hooked. I had to beg for the camera back. Despite the so-so picture quality there's no getting around the "fun" factor of a polaroid. In spite of all the digital technology and sophisticated cameras now available, there is still an itch that only a polaroid can satisfy. I love my polaroid. Get this one.

i first bought this as a present for a friend of mine. After i took a few pictures with it,i was honestly very impressed! The picture quality was very good, not great.
The camera was slightly big and in a little bit of an odd shape to hold, but i didnt mind that too much.
Id recommend this camera, but not if your looking for excellent picture quality. Its still a fun camera and really convientant how you dont need to have it developed!

Beautiful Pictures
I'm a Great Grandmother who finds this camera very easy to use. Big improvement over the first Poloroid instant camera which I owned. When I bought this Sprecta 1200si there was a camera case on the same page which I also bought. However, it didn't fit this camera! I would like to know where I can buy one!

Superb Photos
The Polaroid Spectra 1200si, using the bright Spectra film, produces superb photos in almost any circumstance. The camera focuses automatically, beeping if you are too close to your subject, and adjusts to various lighting conditions.

Expensive but well worth it...
I'm going to make it very simple. Leica when it comes to cameras is like a Land Rover when it comes to jeeps. Of course you can buy a Cherokee or a Chevy Blazer but if you want reliability, quality and durability you would go for Land Rover. Same goes for Leica... If you are looking for strong, sharp, durable piece of equipment that will not fail you and has possibilities of being expanded, Minilux Zoom is the way to go. You have to realize before purchase that this camera has a relatively short zoom by industry standard (only 2x). Lens is not as fast aperture wise as original Minilux. But the quality of optics and output is superior to many cameras and comparable only to Contax T series. This camera is not for everyone due to the price and some features that are fairly limited for regular/average user. On the other hand for a pro, serious amateur or journalist Minilux Zoom offers features (manual focusing, exposure compensation and full flash control) that they would truly appreciate. Having control over their exposure in such a small package without compromising the image quality is quite rare to get. Anyone who had to drag/carry his/her SLR (single lens reflex) cameras will understand and cherish the value of this piece. Also in order to fully benefit from this camera a basic knowledge and understanding of photography principles is very helpful. Also additional possibilities such as mounting extra flash, bulb mode and cable release makes it an all around camera as well.

IT IS THE LENS!!
I have owned both the Minilux and the Minilux Zoom ; I have since resold the Minilux Zoom. The lens is simply too slow compared with the less expensive Minilux which uses a fast (bright) 40mm lens which is much closer to what the eye sees (50mm).I worked for the National Film Board of Canada,I have used many cameras but when I travel I bring only the Minilux because it takes incredible pictures even in the worst low light conditions and even without the flash; I use inside churches and museums with the flash turned off. A zoom this size is simply too slow to be useful, 3 steps forward or three steps back will produce the same result with the Minilux and you will be able to take incredible pictures in those low light conditions. Save your money, buy the Minilux. It's the lens that counts.

The only realistic competition for the Leica Minilux zoom is the Contax. For a bit more money, that has an equal or better lens and is smaller. But, it also fits hands and fingers less well and has somewhat more complex mechanics (since Contax decided to add an automatic lens cover--convenient, but a likely maintenance problem). it's just plain great!
i have had this camera for about a year and i am yet to take a bad picture with it. it does lack a flash though and the lense that mine came with did not have auto-focus, so it is a camera for those who are into serious photography. it does have many automatic settings though, so it is easy to use overall. i hope that other people enjoy this camera as much as i have.

Best SLR for the money!
The ZX-M is a solid camera with almost every feature you will need. I've owned it for almost 2 years and the only complaint I have is that it needs a flash or it is almost useless indoors, so be prepared to buy one and carry it around. It also lacks date imprinting if you're into that. It is a great camera though and is otherwise pert-near perfect!

I love my Pentax
I love my Pentax ZX-M. I bought it a little over 2 years ago because I was a beginner and thought I should start with a manual focusing camera and also because it fell into my price range. I've loved every bit of my camera. It's easy to use, takes great photographs, is light enough to carry around your neck, loads film very easy, and has understandable features. One problem I've had is finding a lense that will fit my camera. From what I understand is that I need a lense with a K mount and those have been a little difficult for me to come by. And another problem that I found is the bulb attachment was a tad bit on the expensive side [all because it was electronic]. Other than that, I love my Pentax. It's definately a great camera for beginners!

Nice
I have had this camera since October is it consistantly gets better with time. I am used to using a Pentax MS-super which was a very basic straight forward camera. The MZ-M is exactly like the ME-super except a more up to date version with some hand electronic features and more options. I enjoy this because a transition for me between my old camera and this camera was very simple. The largest bonus with this camera is that all old and new lense footings will fit beautifully.

The one downside is that it does not have a built in flash like all other Pentax M series cameras. I did a lot of research into buying this camera and less than the price of the next model up (which does offer a few other non flash related bonus' but nothing major) you could buy a nice interchangable Pentax Flash to go with your camera.
