4-0 out of 5 stars Great for land and water
We took this little guy to Maui and planned to use it for snorkeling. We ended up renting an underwater camera later in the week so we didn't get many water photos with the disposable. But the pictures we took turned out pretty good including the land photos.

5-0 out of 5 stars great pictures both in and out of the water
This is a great little camera for taking pictures both in and out of the water. Not surprisingly, it delivers best underwater on a sunny day, but even on overcast days, it produces crisp pictures with great detail.

On land, it is much less particular about lighting, and produces pictures with beautiful colour in light or shadow, or both.

Since it takes such nice pictures out of the water, a first time user might want to practice with it on land. The lever action feels a lot different from the push-button action of regular throw-away cameras, and since you don't hear the click of the shutter underwater, you might be uncertain whether anything happened. A couple of test shots (without the urgency of a sea turtle swimming by or a beautiful school of fish) should increase the photographer's confidence in the camera when underwater.

The big wheel that advances the film works very well; it's easy to find by touch, so getting another snap of something before it swims away isn't difficult.

There's also a little strap to keep it on your wrist, although it's a good idea to keep a firm hold on the camera anyway while swimming.

The simple operation made it a hit with the kids; they were able to make their own special souvenirs of the underwater world.

Excellent value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sensational little disposable -- BUY IT!
It's just about the only camera I needed for a vacation to Maui. I hauled along my digital camera, my "real" 35mm camera and a handful of dry-land disposables, and this underwater camera KICKED BUTT as far as quality of shots, quality of hardware, ease of use and general cool/fun vortex rating, plus, it's almost indestructible and weighs next to nothing!

YES the prints are a bit "dark" when printed without correction -- so CORRECT them! This is a Fuji-Kodak thing, I think, so ASK your processor to print them a bit lighter. The colors are outrageously rich, even the deeper-underwater shots have very good colors throughout. You have GOT to have one of these on your wrist while you snorkel!

Really an excellent little product - the next time I need a dry-land disposable, I'm going to give Fuji a try based on how great this underwater Fuji was to use!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
Probadly will not purchase one again. Pictures were too far away. Colors very not as vivid as the real thing. View finder is too small.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for Water in the Sun Shots
My friends and I took a trip to the Oregon Coast last weekend or some boogie boarding and wouldn't you know it, half way there I realized I left my camera at home! We pulled into a mini mart and I picked up this great little single use camera.

This little Kodak camera worked out so much better than my digital would have anyway - seeing as I wouldn't have dared bring the digital INTO the water! The pictures came out crisp and full of color, it was fun to use and to take underwater pictures of friends, and to top it off it was super cheap! This is actually my first experience with a single use camera where the photos came out good (it's been a long time since I've used one and those pictures came out all grainy.)

Others mentioned the lack of flash as a downfall, but for daytime use it worked like a gem. I'd recommend this camera to anyone who wants to take some water shots in the sun. For that use, this a five star item!

3-0 out of 5 stars No flash no big deal?
My wife and I bought this camera at the last minute to take with us to Hawaii for our honeymoon. We went snorkeling in Molikini (who hasn't?) and I have to say 3 things about this camera that have been mentioned already but need to be taken into serious consideration.

1. Price - A $10 waterproof disposable camera is very reasonable. I think for the price this camera is everything it is suppossed to be. The charter we went on the snorkeling trip with was renting $400 cameras with all the bells and whistles for $20 and $10 per roll of film.

2. Flash - For a snorkeling trip, and staying close to the surface I have to say this camera didn't do too bad. The colors were a bit blueish but nothing that I can't live with. As far as my 25 foot dive down to a turtle to get a picture, I shouldn't have wasted the picture, it is dark and blurry without a flash.

3. Eye Piece - This is a big pain to use with goggles. I eventually stopped trying to aim and just started snapping pictures. I would have to say that to be able to take clear photos underwater this camera needs a bigger eye piece.

Overall I was satisfied with this camera but to tell you the truth I wish I would have rented the camera from the boat with the flash (if only for the picture of me and a giant turtle).

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for under 10 bucks
I used 2 of these cameras on vacation in Aruba. I took one down to 85ft with no problems. There is no flash so you better have great visibility or there will be no pictures. The camera is bouyant so you also need to use the rubber band tether that comes with it. I did not put it in my BC pocket for fear that it would come out and rush to the surface. But it was fine on my wrist.

4-0 out of 5 stars No enough sunlight under 10m,,, no flash either :-(
This camera looks really good and promising. Although Kodak says it could down to 50ft, the camera itself has the phrase "max 35ft or 10m" written on it. But we reached 60ft and nothing happened to it. It didn't break or leak! It also is a little bit buoyant, which means it won't sink if dropped, instead it will ascend.

It has two disadvantages; the first is its lack to a flash. There isn't much sunlight under 35ft of sea water and so the photos turned out a little too dark and bluish. After color correction the photos turned so pale and spotted. The pictures taken above 20ft were awesome. The second disadvantage is that the camera's eye lens it too small for someone who is wearing a diving mask (goggle).

The camera doesn't lose its color to the eye even under 60ft since it is blue. And it has a place where a rope or a nylon tape can be tied to it so it can be attached to the diving jacket (BCD).

It is not perfect, but it's the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera - both underwater and above
I recently took this camera on vacation with me to the Cayman Islands. It was wonderful! My pictuers came back clearer than what I had expected them to. The only thing I would change is the shutter button. It is located in the front of the camera and is kind of hard to push. The button is a little okward. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Value, OK Quality
My Dad took picutres at my wedding with one of these cameras, and got back the digital photos with his prints. Both were of equal quality as far as that goes. The camera focuses well.

However, we found that even with its built in flash, the pictures that he took inside, during the wedding, were dim and relatively worthless. The exterior pictures were lit fine, but the "mood lighting" was dim, and the flash wasn't able to compensate for that.

*****Final Thoughts*****
The camera is a great one to grab on your way to the zoo or the ball game, but if you're going to your high-school graduation or with some friends to a dinner, you probably want to pass.

This is a brightly-lit-area camera. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars eeeeekk awful!!!
I was quite taken by the look of the Camera. Very Compact, Professional looking (almost real) to previous "Cardboard Box" Disposable Camera's Kodak have brought out in the late 80's early 90's.
When I got the Photos developed they just looked Average, not much Depth in each shot, almost like they were overexposed. Not "true" B&W Pics. I've taken many B&W Photos before with a proper Camera using Ilford B & W Film. The Photo's were just so-so. I don't know about this whole Ektanar Lens stuff either, the Photos produced were no clearer than any other One time use Camera. I probably shouldn't expect so much from a Single Use Camera. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Accurate color reproduction, but not very sharp with detail
Firstly let me just say, that I'm slightly confused as to all the different 35mm Fuji 'quicksnap' cameras out there. The 2 that I used were like the one shown here, but a slightly different color. Anyway, on to the review:
The Flash indicator took a while to light up, but we got it going after some persistance. The photos were ok, nothing great though. The results produced fairly natural looking colors, but many of the indoor/nightime shots were slightly blurry and grainy. Many photos appeared under-exposed, like the Flash wasn't bright enough. 3/5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Camera!
Recently I bought 2 One Time Use Cameras. The Kodak Max HQ Camera and a Fuji Quicksnap Flash Camera. After finishing both Camera's I had the Kodak Camera/Film Developed at a Kodak Express, then the Fuji Camera/Film developed at a Fuji Lab. The Results were very different to each other. The Fuji Quicksnap Flash is clearly the Superior Film/Camera. While the Kodak Prints came back slightly blurry with not much color, the Fuji Prints were Crystal Clear with exceptional Clarity and Bright Colors. The Fuji Camera was also cheaper than the Kodak HQ!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fuji Film is taking over
I work in the photo processing world, I am a manager of a high volume photo lab and I must say that Fuji film has taken very large steps to over take Kodak in the film world. From their minilabs, to their digital kiosks, to their one time use 35mm cameras, Fuji film is the way to go. From truer colors, more real film grains, to the obvious less blur, this camera is a wise decision for a one time use camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Razor Sharp Pictures, Nice Colours, I was impressed!!!
After trying several of the other brands of Single Use Cameras on the Market I thought blurry, washed out dull pics were the norm. However, after buying one of the Fuji Camera's on the spur of the moment I was very suprised by the excellent photos it produced. The Twin packs are a great idea as well!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Photo's Turned out Great
Fairly Easy to use, Photo's turned out Clear, Colorful both indoors and out. Apart from having a little trouble getting the Flash to Work it was fine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Little Versatile Camera
I've taken Photos with these Kodak MAX Cameras a few times in 2001-2002. They Deliver Above Average Results at a Fraction of the Price of buying a $$-$$$ Camera. Depending on where you buy them. Early this Year in Australia, Kodak brought out the KODAK MAX HQ Disposable Camera which I think is supposed to be an Upgrade from the Kodak MAX Cameras. However I wasn't Happy with the Results so I switched back to the Yellow Camera which I feel delivers better Results.

I would love for Kodak Australia to release the UK "Kodak Ultra Compact Flash" cameras here, they look like Jazzy little Cameras that actually could be mistaken for a "real" Camera.

P.S. The Kodak Advantix One Time Use Cameras are also Fantastic, so if you get the chance pick up one of these as well. Great for Birthdays and Trips!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for raves, parties, camping
OK, so no one will mistake the photos for professional ones, but these disposable cameras are great! I take one with me when I go to raves, 'cause I don't want to lose my more expensive camera. Photo quality is quite reasonable. The camera is loaded with fast film, so it works in all light conditions with help from the flash. Might as well activate the flash for every picture, since it makes outdoor pictures look better, too. Plus, when you consider you're throwing away the camera, there's no point in trying to save battery power.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kodak Max
Not a bad camera. Good for indoor and outdoor use. It can be used on days of less sunlight and the pictures will still turnout, unlike other disposible cameras. The max flash is what makes it helpful on not so bright days. It is a great price. Good looking camera. You probobly won't drop it because of the No-slip grip. Built in flash is easy to use, all around the camera is easy to use. The camera is a good buy! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Well, after all it is only a One Time Use Camera!
I was going to a Birthday Party on 15-Nov-02 and decided to take this Camera with me. The Photos turned out a bit Grainy in some shots with not much Colour. Also the Skin Tones looked a bit Pale. I used one of these Cameras last year but it was the "Kodak MAX" One time Use Camera, those pictures turned out better. Unfortunately they have Deleted that line (Well in this country Anyway) of One Time Use Camera and replaced them with this new Kodak MAX HQ Model which I don't think is as good.

5-0 out of 5 stars KODAK MAX HQ ONE TIME USE CAMERA BY KODAK
I PURCHASED THREE KODAK CAMERAS OVER THE FALL/CHRISTMAS TIME AND WAS COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE QUALITY OF THE PICTURES. THE BUILT IN FLASH WORKED EVERY TIME AND THE COLORS WERE TRUE KODAK QUALITY IN EVERY WAY.

BUY ONLY AMERICAN WHEN IT COMES TO A TRUE THROW AWAY POINT AND SHOOT CAMERA...KODAK

2-0 out of 5 stars Overated and Overpriced
Unfortunately Kodak seem to spend a small fortune making their Disposable Camera's look Sleek and Trendy. However the Photos always turn out very Average despite being loaded with so called High Quality Kodak Max 400 Film.
IMO Kodak Max 400 Film is one of the worst films on the Market.
I used the Kodak Max HQ a couple of times and was disapointed with the Photos. Grainy, Washed out Colors.
I've yet to try the New High Definition Film, hopefully this Film is slightly better.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this piece of junk!
We bought two of these for our first trip to NYC. The pictures were grainy, washed out and just plain awful. We bought the more expensive cameras thinking the pictures would be even better than the cheaper one time cameras. We were so wrong. I contacted Kodak's customer service and they said it was either the photographer or the developer. Then they generously mailed me a $2 off coupon to buy another. As if I will buy another one of their cameras!! I will never use another Kodak product after the treatment I received from their customer service.

2-0 out of 5 stars I agree with below poster NOT VERY GOOD!!
It's a pity Kodak in Australia aren't as Customer Service Focused as they are with the below poster. I bought a Max HQ Camera and the Flash didn't work, I called Customer Service to complain and they were of no help and wanted me to send the Camera back with a Letter. No replacement, nothing, just attitude!
I've used these Kodak Max HQ Cameras two other times in 2002, The results have been Poor, Washed out Colours, as the Person mentioned below...Poor reproduction of Skin Tones. Hey I'm White, but I'm not THAT White!! Unless Kodak bring out a better One Time Use Camera soon I'm going to start buying another Brand, maybe Agfa or Fuji. ... Read more
