Amazon.com Product Description

If you're new to the world of digital photography, the Olympus D-580 offers just the right blend of easy-to-use features and high-quality optics that delivers vivid pictures. The D-580 Zoom has a durable polycarbonate body with an attractive metallic accent on its sliding protective clamshell lens barrier. It also features a 4-megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom, movie mode with sound, a bright LCD monitor to review images, and Olympus's new TruePic Turbo image processor, which speeds up the camera's start-up, shutter lag, recording and playback time.

Optics and Resolution
The 4-megapixel D-580 captures 2288 x 1712 pixel images for prints up to 11 x 14 inches. It also has 1600 x 1200 (2MP) and 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution modes. It features a 3x optical zoom that, when combined with a 4x digital zoom, delivers a total seamless 12x zoom. The aspherical all-glass zoom lens is constructed of 7 lenses in 6 groups and has a focal length of 5.8-17.4mm (35-105mm equivalent in 35mm photography) and an aperture range of f3.1-f5.2.

Movie Mode and Audio
In addition to capturing still images, you can also shoot short videos with sound (its companion D-540 has no sound capabilities) at 15 frames per second (fps). The D-580 has two resolution modes: 320 x 240 and 160 x 120. The built-in microphone can also capture short memos that can be appended to each message

More Features
The D-580 is one of the first Olympus models to feature TruePic Turbo, a new image processor that sharpens image clarity, contrast, and color for life-like results. This feature also makes the camera 30% faster in processing images and is combined with a super-fast shutter release time.

The D-580 offers a menu architecture that's easy to navigate for fast access to the right settings with just the press of arrow buttons. Seven preset shooting modes can be accessed through the "Virtual Dial" (viewable through the LCD menu) to provide fully automatic exposure adjustments; these include Program Auto, Portrait, Portrait-Landscape, Landscape, Night Scene, Self Portrait, and Movie.

Other features include:

  • 1.8-inch TFT color LCD monitor (approximately 85,000 pixels)
  • Optical real-image viewfinder
  • 1.5 frames per second burst up to 12 frames
  • Built-in flash with auto, red-eye reduction, fill-in, and off modes

Direct Printing
The D-580 is PictBridge compatible, which enables you to transfer pictures from your digital camera to a compatible printer (such as the Olympus P-10), without a PC or image-editing software. All PictBridge devices share three basic features: camera-to-printer connecting, single-image printing, and uniform error messages (in case something goes wrong).

Storage and Transfer
Images are stored on XD Picture Card memory cards. The card's small size, about the same as a postage stamp, helps to keep the camera size down. The included 16 MB card will store approximately 16 images at 2288 x 1712 pixels (at HQ, JPEG setting). Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB 1.1 connectivity, which means the camera can be connected to any USB-based Windows 98 Rev2Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.

Power and Size
The camera is powered by 2 AA batteries (alkalines included, NiMH rechargeable recommended) or 1 CR-V3 battery. It measures 4.3 x 2.3 x 1.4 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 5.8 ounces (excluding batteries and storage media).

What's in the Box
This package contains the Olympus D-580 digital camera, 16 MB XD Picture Card, USB cable, 2 AA alkaline batteries, wrist strap, quick-start guide, and instruction manual. The CD-ROM features Camedia Master software, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Camera Reference Manual. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Camera
i got this camera for Christmas and i love it because it is very easy to use and to hook it up to the computer is soo easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value!
This camera is an excellent value! It is very cheap for a four megapixel camera, has zoom, takes great, sharp, and colorful pictures! I bought this camera for my girlfriend based on what I had read about ease of use for this camera. You would be hard pressed to find a more user friendly camera in this price range or above. THe auto focus on this camera is excellent! We have taken lots of picures with this camera during the day and night and little have come out anything but clear and colorful. Two of the night photos I took of fireworks came out blurry but this is to be expected when not using a tripod. This is a great camera that has a very powerful flash and is easy to use. A word of warning would be not to even try using Alkaline batteries, they will be spent in about 20 shots. One warning, for outdoor wildlife enthusiasts, the zoom motor on this camera is very loud! Instead get one of the Lithium CR-V3 batteries which give excellent picture taking volume in this camera. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for an easy to use, great working and low priced camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Camera
It is an excellent camera for this price (I bought it for $250 about 2 weeks ago). Last week I used it to take pictures in Niagara Falls during day and night. The pictures during the day are crisp. During the night, I held it by hand to take pictures of rapids and the water falls (without flash). The water flow effect was surpringly clear and bright.

Its TruePic Turbo image processor is indeed very fast. I used the camera to take pictures of fireworks. During 10 minutes I took tens of pictures.

However, it is quite necessary to have four recargable Ni-Mh AA batteries with this camera. It uses battery power pretty fast.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Camera for the Price
I purchased this camera for my wife because of it's ease of use (point'n'click) and the lense is automatically covered when turned off (protects lense in her purse or briefcase). It is a nice camera, easy to use, picture quality is OK (my daughter's Kodak 6340 and my Nikon 5700 pictures are much sharper), good camera for beginners. Batteries do not last long, pictures blurred with full digital zoom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little camera
This is my second Olympus and I really like it. Small and compact, takes great pictures. Easy to understand instructions. Great point and shoot camera. I wish the lense cover and body were a bit stronger. Lense cover seems a bit flimsy - like it may not last a long time without breaking. But we will see. I have only had it about a week. I bought the Cannon A75 and hated it and took it back. Olympus takes much better pictures and it much more amature user friendly. Cannon seems to be for the professional that knows how to manually set the settings. But if you want a great little point and shoot camera "Cheaper" than cannon, then go with Olympus. I think my next one will be the Olympus Stylus, since it is made for all weather and a all steel body. I wish I had gotten the Stylus, but it is a bit more expensive. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER EXCELLENT SONY CAMERA
Before you buy DSC-V1, here are some tips about it:
The camera is excellent, considering image quality and features. You can manually set the functions or set the automatic mode (helps beginners but provide features for more advanced photographers - get the manual in Sony Website). The image is better than P92, for V1 has bigger Carl Zeiss lens. P92 is very very easy to use, but V1 has a range of features not available in P92.
1) it requires extra memory stick (which, as you might now is more expensive than compact flash). 256Mb is recommended. 128Mb provides 80 photos full-quality. (any 5.0 Camera, whatever the brand, needs extra memory though.)
2) Spare battery would be useful. The NP-FC11 lasts about 80 minutes and take 2hrs to recharge.
3) Unlike old Sony cameras, you can take pictures faster (whether P32, P92 or V1), but when using V1 with flash, you need to wait few seconds to energy recharge (a bad thing if you need the flash and don't want to miss a thing) - but it's like 3 seconds.
4) A very nice feature is the nightframing and nightshots - it has infrared visor for very dark places.
Comparing to P92, the improvements are amazing. I used them both and found P92 easy to use, but V1 has many useful features, better for those who want to make creative or art photos.

5-0 out of 5 stars sony has a topnotch 5MP camera in the DSC-V1
the sony dsc-v1 is a top-notch camera that is more portable than its competition. it offers full manual control, 5MP resolution, and 4x optical zoom. i do have a few nits though...

pros:
- 5MP, 4x optical zoom.
- great image quality.
- above average resolution, good tonal balance, good color response.
- full manual control.
- images exhibit very low noise, even at higher ISO.
- image processing parameter control (contrast, saturation and sharpening).
- very fast auto focus!
- quick startup, fast shot-to-shot times (except when shooting TIFF).
- fast write times to memory stick.
- has NightFraming which allows you to focus and compose your scene in total darkness with the aid of the infrared emitter, then shoot a full-color shot using the built-in flash. very cool.
- better than average movie mode.
- compared to the competition (canon g5 and nikon 5400), the dsc-v1 is more compact: dimensions are 4.0"W x 2.6"H x 2.3"D weighing 10.9 oz.
- solid build quality.
- bright, high resolution LCD monitor with anti-reflective coating that works.
- battery charges in-camera, charger doubles as AC adapter.
- hot shoe for external flash (limited to specific sony flashes, though).
- many optional accessory lenses (telephoto, wide angle, filter lenses) available.
- histogram in Live view, Record review and Playback modes
- USB 2.0 means faster downloads.

cons:
- colors a bit washed out.
- noise levels higher than expected
- some purple fringing.
- mild chromatic aberrations visible.
- higher redeye occurrence.
- RAW format not supported.
- saving a TIFF file locks up the camera.
- continuous shooting capability limited to 3 frames.
- minimum ISO setting at 100.
- zoom control is oriented differently so it will take a few tries to get used to it.
- ergonomic issues: tiny menu and resolution keys, very easy to block the flash and optical viewfinder with fingers, left index finger falls right on top of the pop-up flash, suppressing it.
- lots of key functions are buried in menus.
- below average battery performance.
- no separate user settings.
- like most sony products, you pay a premium, pushing up the price.
- expensive memory stick pro cards.
- uses a proprietary battery so add a few bucks to buy a spare (or maybe two given the battery performance).
- the supplied 32MB memory stick is inadequate - again, more $$ for more memory.
- you'll need to remove from tripod to get to the battery or memory stick.

sony has succeeded in delivering a camera that has virtually the same feature set as canon's g5 and nikon's 5400 but in a more compact package. it's not perfect though. RAW format is not supported and writing a TIFF file still takes way too much time. and there are some ergonomic nits that is uncharacteristic of sony. still, this is a great package and worthy of consideration.

i hope this helps your buying decision. peace.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a Sony.
Excellent picture quality, I am no expert, yet I can easily see the diffence between my pictures and my friends' Canon and Kodak cameras. Size is pretty decent, I carry it everywhere in my pocket ( that's if I don't mind a bulky pocket though ). The night vision makes people go aaaawwww, but is not as practical as it initially sounds. I got a 256Mb pro stick for movies, and I am pretty happy with it. I could use a stronger optical zoom, and certainly a different location for the built-in flash.

Bottomline, I love my camera. It's helping me store my memories in better quality than ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sony CyberShot DSC-V1: To Buy or Not To Buy.
I must begin by explaining that I got back into the digital camera market having to replace my Kodak DC240 which was purchased (and cutting edge with 2.0MP) in 2000. The DC-240 finally went dead and I took it to Best Buy who, on their warranty, gave me the purchase value towards another camera, and thus the DSC-V1. I have had the DSC-v1 for a little over a week now and have some interesting insights. I generally look to Amazon for reviews and hope that you will find this one useful. Please know that I am not a professional, and don't know a whole lot about photography (had a couple of classes in undergrad.)

To set this up, I have a friend who, upon hearing that I had this money to spend, recommended that I buy a digital SLR. Sounded great, but I wanted something that would fit into my pocket. I was looking at a Kodak with 10x zoom, but when I went to purchase it, I realized that it did not fit into my pocket. I am more prone to grabbing my camera if I can just toss it in my pocket and take it to a party, to shoot art, or take pictures of my dog! So now to my take. Please note that these are not necessarily pro's or con's but observations.

-5MP WOW! Image quality is great. Coming from a 2MP, I am blown away!

-USB2.0 is fast and a definite sales point to this camera. Make sure you have 2.0 on your computer if you are planning on shooting large images!

-The rechargeable battery is nice. I don't know if I am sold on it yet though. I am still pondering buying another battery should I be on vacation away from an outlet.

-People have complained about the controls, I have big hands and they are not a problem.

-I do have a problem holding the camera. Go hold one before you buy it. I like the camera and knew this going into it. My left hand has the tendency to hold down or cover the flash, My right index finger has the tendency to cover the viewfinder. I will learn to live with it...

- The camera has tons of features, which was one of my reasons for purchasing it. They can get a little confusing though.

-If you are looking for a simple point and shoot, or a camera for your grandmother, this is not for her/you.

-The display, although small, is adequate and clear.

-I was looking into cameras with a greater zoom. This 4x works great.

-The camera works quickly with 5MP images allowing you to quickly zoom in and out and scroll through them. The LCD displays them clearly

-Menus are clear and precise.

-The ability to control aperture, shutter speed, and focus is great. It gives me the ability to treat this camera like an SLR.

-The night framing/shot features are nice for shooting at night or indoors. They allow you to frame a scene on the LCD before shooting the image.

-The hot-shoe is a nice feature as I can connect this camera either to a professional flash OR a professional lighting kit to allow me to shoot artwork.

All in all, this is a great camera. If you are just looking for a point and shoot, this camera is not for you. It is a lot of camera packed in a small package. Be prepared to read the lengthy manual several times before getting SOME of the features down. Also beneficial is some knowledge of basic photography, as terms such as metering, ISO, f-stop, and shutter speed are used often, and to fully understand the camera, working knowledge of these terms is necessity.

Step-up Value
Here's a Sony feature that adds value to this digital camera and differentiates it from other models in the Sony lineup.

Optics and Resolution
Optimized for photo enthusiasts, the MVC-CD500 offers a 5-megapixel Super HAD sensor for image detail up to 2,592 x 1,944 pixels and print enlargements up to 20 by 30 inches. Get closer to your subjects with the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 3x optical zoom lens (34-102mm equivalency in 35mm photography). The Mavica CD500 also features a 3.2x digital zoom.

Storage and Transfer

Most digital cameras' movie modes are limited to 30- or 60-second clips, but the Mavica CD500 can keep shooting until you've filled the CD-R/RW, approximately 6 minutes at full VGA resolution (640 x 480, 16 frames per second).

More Features
Flexible exposure control is provided with aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual exposure modes. For better command of motion and depth of field, the Program Shift feature allows various aperture and shutter-speed combinations from within the auto mode. The Mavica CD500's five-area multipoint AF can also evaluate five separate areas of the frame and intelligently focuses on the subject, displaying the selected focus point; or, the user can choose any of the five points for manual control.

With single, monitoring, and continuous AF modes, the photographer can optimize focusing to the situation, which is especially useful for capturing action shots. The hologram AF illuminator projects a laser pattern on the subject to artificially create contrast, even in low or no light.

Multipattern measuring independently meters the light in 49 points of the frame to establish the optimum exposure, even when highlight and shadow are not centered in the frame.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Pictures, But Really Slow
This camera is excellent. I use this camera to take pictures for my school's yearbook and it's made my job 10 time easier. The pictures are incredible. It's very easy to use, you can just point and shoot. I've been fiddling with the different focus and lighting settings, and i have snapped some simply amazing shots. The disc makes it easy to tranfer your pictures. All i have to do is pop it in my cdrom drive then copy and paste. The disc gets filled up fast, especially when "deleting" pictures, so buy alot of them. Movie mode shoots in the mpeg format and is pretty good quality, but use a camcorder if movies are all you plan to do.

The only problems I found would be the 3x zoom (it should be 6x at least) and the slow write speed to the disc after taking the pictures. **Also use CD-RWs, because once you finalize that CD-R, your stuck with what's on it.**

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value; Highly Recommended!
This excellent camera takes terrific photos. With Windows XP & USB 2.0, I was taking photos and viewing them on my PC within minutes of opening the box, although I see that some of the more advanced features will take me a while to master. I chose this particular camera for 3 reasons; my previous experience with a Sony Mavica, the 5MP quality and the mini-CD.

I frequently wish to access the images on my PC after taking only a very few photos, so I quickly learned that "finalizing" the CD-RW each time before inserting it into the PC is impractical (I was unaware of this step prior to purchase, but it is necessary for the PC's CD drive to read it). Not to worry! Using the USB cable, (no drivers required for Windows XP/USB 2.0) the images are accessible immediately, so you can wait until the CD is full & finalize just once. Of course, you would want to wait until a CD-R was full before finalizing it anyway.

Amazon's product description of the camera's features is excellent, so I don't need to restate them all here. I am pleased with my purchase of this camera and recommend it highly to others.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great , But .....
I love the camera and all the features . I don't miss 35 mm as much as I thought I would with this camera . I love that you can just click and e-mail right away . One problem is that I used the mavica discs and found them to be great , but expensive . So I did what every one else did , used a cheaper disc , not Mavica . They worked for a while but now , won't work at all .It won't intialize or finalize . They were not kidding when they warn that other discs will damage your camera . I called Sony and they tell me this is what happens . I have a useless camera now , it won't even work with the Mavica disc. I can still see all the already recored disc from the past but can't make any new . It's ashame because the camera takes the best digital pictures i have seen .They need to work on this since you can't even find the mavica disc in my area .Thanks alot Sony .

5-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Camera
I have been using this camera for about a few months now and I love it. The picture quality, with 5 mega pixels is amazing. The detail and colors that come through are great, much more than what I would expect for a digital camera. There is so much you can do with the camera and still have not learned everything.

I was concerned when I purchased this camera that it would take long before you could take one picture to the next- due to the CD burner. I read in someone's review that this was a problem with them. I have not have had any such problem and I am able to take a picture right after another. It appears it stores the photo within an internal memory if it is still recoding the prior on the CD. I also love the fact you can store so many photos on single CD which I can buy for less than 50 cents a cd.

I also enjoy using the movie mode to capture videos. Although it is not the quality of a camcorder, the quality is pretty decent and you can record about 6 minutes on a 210mb 3 inch cd-r. I would be careful not to have the lens zoomed when recording because it seems to lessen the video quality. You also can not zoom in or out while in the video mode.

I would also be careful when buying accessories for this camera. I bought two filter and the adapter that attaches to the camera and I think they are great because I can protect the lens. I also bought the starter accesory kit which includes the carrying bag, an extra battery and 3 CD-RW. I believe I purchased this for 60 dollars. If you factor in the price for the battery and the CDs, it is a little over 60 dollars so I thought this was a deal because I was getting a camera case as well. Unfotunately the case just fits the camera (and it is a VERY SOFT case- so do not expect it to protect it if you tend to be rough) but now it no longers fits in with the adapter/filter attchment. That is something to be careful about.

One other point is the LCD screen. It is very large and I think it goes great with the camera. There is no viewfinder though and it can be a little difficult to see if there is bright sunshine on the screen, although it does work well outside. There is also an atchment sold for this where you can use a view finder. I plan on purchasing that as well in the future.

The zoom on the lens is only 3x. Although I would prefer more it still is great.

As my last note, between the camera itself and the attachments I have, it is large. Some people have complained about the size of the camera. It is about the size of a small SLR camera. If you are looking for something small, don't purchase this one, go with a simple point and shoot. Yet, if size is not an issue and you want a great camera than this is the way to go. I bought this camera for 450- on sale. I would definitely wait and look around before shelling out 600 which most places have this priced for. Overall though- it is worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marvelous Mavica CD
I've been using the SONY MVCCD500 CD Mavica for about 9 months in forensic engineering work. The camera has been completely reliable inspite of some rough handling and adverse conditions. Disc media has huge capacity and is great for archiving photographic evidence. Read only media helps defend against accusations of digital photo tampering. Resolution is adequate for some surprisingly good enlargements. Zeiss lense is supurb. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

With its slide-away lens cover and aerodynamic design, it's clear at first sight that the Stylus Verve is not just another digital camera shoved into a bulky 35mm point-and-shoot's case. In fact, it's a powerful, easy-to-use, four-megapixel wonder that features a large 1.8-inch LCD display that's viewable even in full sunlight. The Stylus Verve even comes in six colors: blue, red, silver, white, black, and red.

Optics and Resolution
The Stylus Verve features a four-megapixel CCD imager, which can gather enough information to create images approximately as large as 1,714 by 2,286 pixels. In other words, you'll be able to make photo-quality prints of your pictures at sizes up to 11 by 15 inches. The camera's 2x optical zoom lens--equivalent to a 35-70mm lens on a film camera--combines with a 4x digital zoom to simulate the power of an 8x zoom lens, but only at lower resolution settings.

Movie Mode
The Stylus Verve can capture short video clips with sound in the movie mode setting. This feature won't likely persuade anyone to abandon their camcorder, but it is a fun and convenient way to capture movement while you're out taking pictures. The amount of video the Stylus Verve can store is limited only by the amount of memory available.

More Camera Features
Virtual Mode Dial with 10+ shooting modes 1.8-inch semi-transmissive LCD 130k pixel TFT) for taking and viewing pictures (no optical viewfinder) PictBridge enabled -- print directly to any PictBridge-compatible printer, with or without a computer Semi-Transmissive TFT LCD's are multi layered, which allows the image on the LCD to be viewed in direct sunlight situations. Quick View button allows you to review the shot you just took.

Image Processor
The TruePic Turbo image processor enhances color fidelity (the range of color, saturation, and brightness), signal-to-noise response (relationship of accurate electrical signals to unwanted signals like static disturbances creating noise), and high-resolution image clarity (sharpness) over other image processors while speeding up image data processing times. The end result is clearer and more color-accurate photos and noticeably faster startup and shot-to-shot recycle times.

Power
The Stylus Verve is powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which is included with a charger. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great upgrade to 5 megapixels
I had bought this camera as a replacement for my "old" 2MP Olympus, and I must say that Olympus have done a great job. The pre-set dial on the back makes selecting shooting modes much easier, with choices of Auto-shoot, programmed auto-shoot (where you can create your settings)Manual, movie mode (Quick Time movies with sound)self-portrait, landscape/portrait, sport, night scene, and landscape. The viewfinder (an rarity with point and shoot digital cameras these days), is a little small, but does the job. The screen is incredibly sharp and gives you a real sense of how the shot will turn out. It is very nice in the hand, and very stable to use (no more camera shake!) In short, a crisp, clean, sweet camera, and well-recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of both worlds
I spent a lot of time researching the best video camera to buy and decided on the DuoCam. At first I was thinking of getting a Sony miniDV HandiCam, but after trying it out in the store I was afraid I would break it, it felt more like a Fisher Price toy than a serious (and expensive) piece of electronic equipment. I saw a review in Wired Magazine for the DuoCam and it peaked my interest, both a miniDV camera with a 4 mega pixel video camera in one package...hmmm. Well I tried one out in the store and although it is a little bigger than a HandiCam, it is much more solid and once you learn the controls is very convenient. One of the reasons I bought this was because we have a new baby, with this camera I can video tape him and when he does something particularly cute I just switch to the digital camera and take a shot, no switching or anything, pretty convenient when you have diaper in one hand and your camera in the other. I found the video quality to be the equivlent of the the HandiCam and the photo quality and features are excellent. Considering how much you would spend for both a decent miniDV camera and a good digital camera, this is a great deal. You also get a remote, USB cable and memory card. I am very happy with my purchase, way to go Samsung! ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

This HP PhotoSmart 945xi bundle includes the PhotoSmart 945 camera and the HP PhotoSmart 8881 camera dock, which allows you to easily rechage your camera batteries and transfer images from your camera at just the touch of a button.
The HP PhotoSmart 945, featuring an 8x optical zoom lens and a 7x digital zoom (for 56x total), is one of the most affordable "big zoom, big megapixel" digital cameras on the market. Geared for the advanced amateur, it features a 5.3-megapixel resolution, advanced photo features, and a wide variety of manual controls. But it also has such automatic features as an on-camera wizard for getting the best shot, direct printing, and HP's Instant Share.

Optics and Resolution
With its 5.3-megapixel resolution, you can snap bright, detailed images with the PhotoSmart 945 that can be enlarged to poster size. It features two resolution options: 2608 x 1952 (5 MP) and 1296 x 976 (1 MP). The Fuji Photo lens has an 8x optical zoom that's coupled with a 7x digital zoom for a 56x total zoom. Movie Mode
In addition to taking still photos, the PhotoSmart 945 can also record up to 60-second movie clips with sound at a 288 x 208 pixel resolution. The QuickTime Motion JPEG format offers a limited resolution, which is great for capturing a short movie that can be e-mailed to friends and family, but is no replacement for a true camcorder.

More Features
The 945 also includes HP's new, exclusive Adaptive Lighting technology, which balances brightness relationships between bright and dark areas in a photo, preserving gentle contrasts but compressing harsh contrasts. With clear and easy to use "low", "high" and "off" settings, the camera automatically balances shots by lightening specific areas within a photograph.

HP's on-camera help allows you to access quick and clear guidance on how to take the best picture with the HP PhotoSmart 945 digital camera's wide ranging functions. In addition, its enhanced manual controls allow concurrent photos to be taken through "burst" mode without having to wait for the camera to prepare before each shot. Other available creative controls include aperture, ISO, shutter speed, exposure, white balance, color and sharpness

With HP's Instant Share feature, you can customize your camera with e-mail aliases and distribution lists of your family and friends. For each picture, you can designate up to 14 destinations, including e-mail addresses, compatible printers, and more.

Other features include:

  • Large 2-inch LCD monitor
  • Built-in flash with auto, on, off, night, and red-eye reduction modes

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy
After researching digital cameras for a month I finally decided on the Nikon CoolPix 3200. I'm astounded by its great picture quality and battery life. When I received my camera I was using it for two hours (taking pictures, fiddling with the settings, etc.) and the batteries held up. Two weeks later after some use, the batteries are still great! The picture quality is amazing for a digital camera! The image is sharp and the color is balanced.

Another great aspect of the camera is the ability to zoom in and out after the picture has taken. It's not grainy at all, in fact it was so good I was able to see the tiny writing on a poster almost 30 feet away after zooming up close!

The recycle time is good, under a second and the features are easy to use even if you don't read the manual.

If you're a novice at digital photography or even a professional this camera is for you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very satisfied
I'm a novice at digital camera photography, and just got the Coolpix 3200 three days ago. I'm loving it! The pictures I take are sharper than expected, and the camera is very easy to use. The uploading to the computer is a snap, and the editing software included with the package (I bought) makes for easy use.

The camera is small, and fits nicely into a shirt pocket, so I carry it every where I go - including a recent fishing trip with one of my sons. I shopped for a long time before deciding on one of the many digital cameras available, and took the Coolpix. I have not been disappointed.

I used it nearly all day yesterday at a grandson's birthday party, taking lots of picture, and the batteries still have power. We even reviewed the pictures on the TV, which is a great feature. I have a recharger, but so far, battery life has been long.

2-0 out of 5 stars Big mistake by Nikon
I have had only 2 digital cameras in the past, a Sony and a Pentax, so I still have a short experience.

I was told by a work mate how good was nikon 3100. So when 3200 with more options came out I thought to buy it.

Now that I have used the camera for 2 weeks I can say that it is very easy to use it has a lot of features but ........

with low light condition the pictures are so noisy that are almost useless

So if you want daylight camera maybe it's for you, but if you are going to use it with low light or flash think in another option.

In my case I'm going to send it back to the store.

Thanks

Julio

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun but flawed
I bought this camera recently, after spending an afternoon comparing reviews of simple 3MP cameras. My verdict after testing it on various common photo ops is somewhat less positive than most of the reviews.

The main drawback for me, and this may apply to other digital cameras, is that the photos appear much brighter on the LCD than the actual JPG images turn out to be. Even after manipulating with sophisticated programs, the final images have black/grey areas where the LCD shows colourful detail. I'm using the highest quality storage format.

Another nasty surprise I had, which may or may not be related to the camera, is that one of the two SanDisk 256MB cards I bought became corrupt beyond repair while I was taking photos. This card is listed in the camera manual as supported. The problem was easily diagnosed, since I had an identical card that showed no problems, and my PC wouldn't read/format it either. I've replaced the card for a new one, and maybe it was a rare malfunctioning card to begin with.

As some reviews mention, the adaptive autofocus makes loud click sounds in movies. This can be avoided by selecting fixed focus mode, counting on the distance from the subject remaining the same. The MOV file has considerable lag between sound and mouth movements, but that can probably be fixed afterwards with some programs.

On the positive side, I do like the simple interface, small size, and good looks. Like all cameras, it takes beautiful pictures when the conditions are just right. If you're buying your first digital camera, like I was, consider spending $100 more on a higher quality 4MP camera. I fear that my old point-and-shoot may give me higher quality photos than my new toy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great little camera
This is a great camera with a small size, good photo quality, cool features, and it's pretty intuitive to use. I was taking pictures straight away and the photos transferred to my iBook in a snap. My only complaint is the battery life. The batteries the camera came with lasted about 1 day and I wasn't even playing with it that much. Luckily, I had bought a battery pack and charger, but now I think I'll buy another battery pack so I can always have a spare set of charged batteries. Other than the batteries, this is a great camera and I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

I'm an amateur photographer but I do have my creative side, and I've been impressed with the photo quality. ... Read more

Speed is mostly what sets the A340 apart from previous cameras. Slide the camera cover open and you'll be ready to start taking photos in about three seconds. The camera also has a quick refresh between images--less than a second. Images come out of the A340 quickly, too, since it is compatible with the much-faster transfer speeds of USB 2.0 when uploading to computers that are likewise equipped.

The camera features a 3x Fujinon zoom lens. Also, the camera has a 1.7x digital zoom feature, but only when shooting in 2 MP mode. To get those close-up shots full of detail, the A340's macro mode can focus the camera on subjects just 3.6 inches from the lens.

Movie mode
Shoot up to one minute of AVI video without sound at resolutions up to 320 x 240 pixels; up to four minutes at lower resolutions. The movies aren't camcorder quality, but they're fun and convenient, and they're perfect as e-mail attachments. The camera is powered by two AA-size batteries (alkaline included, rechargeable NiMH recommended). It measures 4.09 by 2.42 by 1.23 inches and weighs 5.1 ounces without batteries and memory card.

5-0 out of 5 stars i just got this camera for christmas
I just got this camera for christmas and it is relatively easy for a first time user so i give it 5 stars so i would recomend this camera to every one

4-0 out of 5 stars If pictures from a semester at the White House come out...
So I must disagree with the reviewer from Maine, who believe it or not cannot seem to spell anything correctly, thus I would expect her to rate this camera low as it is probably above her to even know anything about a camera much less operate one. My sister purchased the originial of this camera over the summer for her internship with Laura Bush, at the same time my other sister and my brother were getting cameras for the first years of university life and I must say that of the three cameras I liked the Fuji the best. My first digital camera 4 years ago was a Nikon CoolPix and I will NEVER own another Nikon. I purchased the Fuji the other night and am so pleased with it. The pictures look amazing on the camera, on my computer and in print. No complaints here! Thank you Fuji for securing my loyality for years to come.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well, I like this camera!
I purchased this camera this afternoon. I didn't buy it from amazon. I purchased it at a PC Richards. I knew the salesman and he gave me a good deal. Anyway, I was going to get the 3 pixal one, but that was out of stock. The salesman sold me this one at the same price, which was $200. I was deciding between this one and a canon, and he recommended this one. I have had it for an hour, and I love it. It is so easy to use. I just skimmed throught the instructions. I was able to navigate the menu's with no problem. I wanted to point that out, since a lot of the compliants are that it is not that easy to use. I have about ten pictures that I took so far. I used my new puppy as my test subject. They came out great. It is easy to pick out the pictures that you want, and the ones that you want to delete. I can't wait to print some up. I just needed one with the basics. This has that and more. I love it, and I am glad I purchased this one. It is highly recommended. I only gave it four stars, because I wish the memory card held more. Don't have second thoughts on this. It is definitly a good price, and compact.

5-0 out of 5 stars great camera!
I'm suprised there are a few reviews that aren't so good, we love this little camera! The pictures are clear, sharp, nice colors, and theres some really great features for being such an affordable price. This is a really good family camera. Not for the professional.

above website will show pics of low light, indoor light, and outside.
PS. cradle is optional. USB connects to your computer to upload. It would be cheaper to get a $15 recharger & batteries.

I have to agree with erosomniac, from Seattle, WA. The FujiFilm A340 is a waste of money. I previously had a FujiFilm 2600 and it took far superior pictures than the A340. I contacted Fuji (sent them pictures from the A340 and they sent me back pictures with the same problems) and that was also a waste of time. Outdoor pictures are either too bright or too dark, really hard to get a good clear picture. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The fun, easy-to-use Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P72 digital camera packs in more pixels and more features than its predecessor. With its 3.2-megapixel resolution, the Cyber-shot DSC-P72 produces stunning images in a diverse range of conditions. The Cyber-shot DSC-P72 bumps up the optical zoom to 3x from the DSC-P52's 2x rating, helping you bring distant subjects closer. It's also one of the first Sony cameras to be compatible with Memory Stick Pro.

Step-up Value
Here's a Sony feature that adds value to this digital camera and differentiates it from other models in the Sony lineup.

product image AF (Auto Focus) Illuminator: Briefly lighting the scene in low- or no-light conditions, AF Illuminator insures a positive focus lock, allowing you to accurately establish and maintain focus in difficult situations.

Optics and Resolution
The 3.2-megapixel resolution creates images large enough to print 11-by-17-inch enlargements. The 14-bit DXP system plus Super HAD CCD combine to produce excellent image detail and stunningly smooth contrast and color rendition. The Cyber-shot DSC-P72 offers a 3x optical zoom and 3.2x digital zoom for a 9.6x total.

Storage and Transfer
Images are stored on Memory Sticks, and a 16 MB Memory Stick is included. The Cyber-shot DSC-P72 is also one of the first Sony cameras to be compatible with optional Memory Stick Pro media, which can extends data capacity up to 1 GB.

Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB connectivity, which means it can be connected to any USB-based Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.

Movie Mode
You can capture far more than still images with the MPEG Movie VX function. Most digital cameras' movie modes are limited to 30- or 60-second clips, but the Cyber-shot DSC-P72 can keep shooting until you've filled the memory card. When used with Memory Stick Pro media you can shoot approximately 22 minutes of video.

More Features

  • 1.5-inch LCD monitor and true-zoom optical viewfinder for more accurate framing at eye level
  • The three-area multipoint autofocus can intelligently focus on the subject and avoids mistakenly focusing on the background
  • A multi-burst mode captures 16 images (320 x 240) as part of a single 1,280 x 960 image and plays them back sequentially in the camera
  • The Multipattern Measuring feature establishes a maximum exposure value, independently light metering 49 points of the frame, even where pronounced highlight and shadow are not centered
  • Five scene modes: twilight, twilight portrait, landscape, snow, and beach.
  • Built-in flash with red-eye reduction, auto, forced on, forced off, and slow-syncro modes

Power, Size, and Contents
The camera is powered by the NH-AA-DA rechargeable NiMH battery (included). It measures 4.7 by 2.3 by 1.3 inches and weighs 7.9 ounces. This package includes the Cyber-shot DSC-P72 digital camera, 16 MB Memory Stick, battery and battery charger (BC-CS2), USB and AV cables, wrist strap, and CD-ROM with imaging software and USB drivers for Windows and Mac. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Solid camera for a good price...A must TRY!!!
After searching for months and reading many reports I purchased the Sony DSC-P72. The camera was a snap to use for this first time digital owner. Menu is excellent, focus does a terrific job, and the download to my computer was instint. Picture quality after I enlarged to 12 by 14 was superb. Sony supplies you with ni-mh batteries and charger, plus can use regular AA batteries. With Optical zoom, 3.2 megapixels, charger the $329.00 was normal but with sony quality. Memory stick media is getting cheap too, I purchased 128 m for $40.00 and 256 is available. I don't need more functions or 4 or 5 meg after using this camera!
I also compared with our Canon A-70 to her Sony P-72 and I still love my A-70 though. Her P-72 was the same price and takes great shots as well. It just lacks manual aperature control and shutter control against the A70's ability to do so. However, the P-72 takes sweet shots too for the person who just wants the camera to do all of the work. Sony is top quality as well. But hey, this is a camera, not a camcorder! What are you waiting for? Get it now!

4-0 out of 5 stars My First Digital Camera
I have always put off getting a digital camera because I did not have much faith in the current "at home" printing technology. But I changed my mind when I discovered I can have digital pictures printed profesionally. I bought the Sony DSC-P72 in August this year and have not regretted my decision. This is my first digital camera. I like that it takes clear and crisp pictures. It's flash and AF illuminator are powerful. Allows some manual control over the settings to give help me get better pictures. Menus are very user-friendly. It took me only less than 2 hours to figure them out. I also like the rechargeable batteries that came with it. But if you're planning to go on trips better have an extra pair or two ready. It also takes normal AA batteries. Only two things I didn't like, the measly 16MB memory stick and the "slow" battery charger. Get a 256MB memory stick and you're on your way to taking tons of pictures and a (fast) travel charger. For those who are complaining that the camera cannot take multiple shots in quick succession, read the camera's instruction manual again. You can either shoot in clip motion, multi-burst mode, or burst mode. However, the picture quality will suffer if you use one of these modes. Better shoot with a film camera since we all know that as of now, film cameras are still faster than digital. Overall, I like this camera and I'm glad that I got this one as my first.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent starter, please get extended warranty
This is my first ever camera, and in comparison to my relative's and friend's cameras, it fares very well. Comparatively inexpensive against other cameras in its class.

Sony makes it very easy to just take photo shots on a whim and still comes out with great pictures. Of course, I had to teach myself to hold the camera still, but maintains excellent picture quality. I love the movie mode which allows for awesome pictore movies, great if you want to take family videos, but don't want the hassel of a huge camcorder. Or, just to capture that moment.

But, as wtih many things, it's advisable to get an extended warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not at Target!! Dont buy this camera at target!!
This is a great camera but at this site you dont get anything with the camera so you will have to buy all sorts of things just to make it work without a problem. If you go to circut city they have this camera for 229.99 with all the accessories!

1-0 out of 5 stars Sony does not stand behind their product!
I will never purchase a Sony product again! I have not even had this camera for 6 months and already it's useless to me. The flash no longer works (I found out when I was in the hospital having our first child and do not have any pictures. My husband had to go out and buy a $10 disposable camera that took better pictures and the flash worked!). I called Sony hoping that they would stand behind their product and cover the part and labor since it wasn't even a year since I purchased it. They told me they'd cover the part, but I'd have to pay for the labor - $139!!! They said I should've purchased an extended warranty and that there is nothing they can do for me. My problem with warranties - they never seem to cover what you want them to and why should I have to pay extra to insure that a product works the way it should've worked when I bought it??? I'm very disappointed in this camera and the company (Sony) and will never purchase anything with their name on it again. Since I've been telling everyone I know about my problem with the camera and Sony's customer service, I have heard nothing but great things about Kodak digital cameras and their customer service. I wish I purchased a Kodak. Too late for me...but not for you. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Speed is mostly what sets the A330 apart from previous cameras. Slide the camera cover open and you'll be ready to start taking photos in about three seconds. The camera also has a quick refresh between images--less than a second. The camera features a 3x Fujinon zoom lens. Also, the camera has a 1.6x digital zoom feature, but only when shooting in 2MP mode. To get those close-up shots full of detail, the A330's macro mode can focus the camera on subjects just 3.6 inches from the lens.

Movie Mode
Shoot up to one minute of AVI video without sound at resolutions up to 320 x 240 pixels; up to four minutes at lower resolutions. The movies aren't camcorder quality, but they're fun and convenient, and they're perfect as e-mail attachments. The camera includes cables that allow you to view your movies on NTSC (North American) and PAL (other regions) televisions and, of course, you can upload the files to your computer via the camera's USB interface.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great camera!
This is a great camera! I repeat great. It is very light weight and compact. I got this for Christmas, I wasn't very impressed with its looks but once I decided to open it, it was actually nice. This camera is easy to use and you can easily transfer files to your computer. The memory cards are hard to find and it uses batteries very quickly but these shouldn't affect if you should by it. I highly recommend this camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool Camera
This is my second Fuji, my first was the MX-1200. It took great pictures, nothing last for ever. So now I own the A330 and it's<br />standing up to my old one even better. What I like is that you can be in a dim lighted room and take a picture that comes out as if you had all the lights on. Fuji has my business. Also it's very easy to use.

4-0 out of 5 stars FujiFilm FinePix A330 what a pleaser
What a pleaser to finaly get a Camera that works for my specific needs that I use it for.As I take my company's product pics with it and most of the time the colors and evrything comes out perfect only time its not perfect is when my lighting is in correct and the high res. and low res options also is fantastic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fuji A330
This is my second digital camera in 5 years - handed down the old one to the kids. I was hesitant to give up my old one because of how easy it was to use (an old HP model)but it was bulky and I wanted some new features. I bought the Sony DSC P32 and hated how complicated it was. I hung on to it for 90 days hoping I could dedicate a week or so to reading about how to use the darn thing when I finally gave up and returned it. I was referred to the Fuji A330 for ease of use. It is so easy, my kids use it! It takes great pictures all around - inside, outside, light or dark. The software also is much better than what came with the Sony I returned. A friend bought the Nikon 3200 and we compared our cameras to eachother. We found them to have practically identical features except that the Fuji is about $50 less so I know I get the better deal. One very important thing to keep in mind is that the software be user friendly. Even if you find a camera that you like, if the software stinks, you won't get the best use out of your camera. The software with the Fuji is good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great price but ...
This camera is a lot smaller than the last year model, Fuji FinePix A210 and costs about 20 to 30 dollars more. I bought this camera based on the reviews on the A210. This is my second digital camera. The camera comes with 2 Alkaline batteries, a 16M xD memory card. I use 2 NimH rechargeable batteries instead. It doesn't come with a case.

The Fuji A330 camera is a point-and-shoot camera that has red eye reduction. I was able to operate without reading the instruction manual. Under bight light, the LCD screen is very fade and hard to see. If you want to download the pictures to the computer, you will need to install the USB driver. I have Windows 2000 and the software installation is a snap.

The outdoor pictures are acceptable. However I was disappointed with indoor pictures. Even at a 4-5 feet range, the pictures were dark. ... Read more

Product Description

12x Optical Zoom and a Brightness of F2.8 to 3.3The LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens is a small, lightweight lens that packs the same zoom power as a big, clunky 400mm-class film camera lens. This 12x optical zoom lens is super-bright too, at F2.8 to 3.3 with a focal length of 6 to 72mm (equivalent to 35mm to 420mm in a 35mm film camera). You've got all the power and flexibility you need to take exquisitely beautiful shots all the way from telephoto to wide angle and macro. The DMC-FZ4 also has a 4x digital zoom. Use it together with the 12x optical zoom and you've got ultra-powerful 48x zooming - roughly equivalent to a huge 1680mm lens on a 35mm camera. MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer Helps Eliminate Blurry PicturesJitter from shaky hands is one of the main reasons why cameras produce blurry images. We don't expect everyone to have hands of stone when taking pictures--that's why Lumix(R) cameras help solve the problem of unsteady hands with advanced MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer technology. The DMC-FZ4 has a built-in gyrosensor that detects any hand movement and relays a signal to a tiny microcomputer inside the camera, which instantly calculates the compensation needed. A linear motor then shifts the Optical Image Stabilizer lens as necessary to guide incoming light from the image straight to the CCD. You won't even notice it working-all you'll see are the outstanding results! Snap Off Consecutive Shots at 4 Frames per Second! You can take up to 7 images in Standard Mode and 4 images in Fine Mode with full resolution. In addition, the Unlimited Consecutive Shooting function lets you continue shooting until the memory card or built-in memory is full. All this is made possible by the Venus Engine ... Read more

This camera is great. Huge 12x optical zoom, yet the camera is very small and portable. Plus it has optical image stabilization that works wonders. Best of all it is relatively cheap. Best camera on the market, forgot to mention the photo quality is superb even with automatic setings. Plus you can go full on manual aperture, manual shutter, and manual iso if you want. Amazon.com Product Description

Optics and Resolution
Featuring a 5-megapixel CCD sensor, the DMC-FX7 delivers a wide range of detail and color with images up to 2560 x 1920 pixels--enough information to make photo-quality prints up to 13 by 17 inches. Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 3x zoom lens, with 3 aspheric elements, combines comfortably small size with superb image rendering. By combining with a 4x digital zoom, users will have an equivalence of a 12x zoom lens in a very compact body, though users should note that digital zoom degrades picture quality.

Movie Mode
The DMC-FX7 lets you shoot QuickTime Motion JPEG video at resolutions up to 320 x 240 pixels with sound. The amount of video you can capture is limited by space on the memory card; you'll fit more at low quality (10 frames-per-second) than at high quality (30 frames-per-second). The movies aren't camcorder quality, but they're fun and convenient, and they're perfect as e-mail attachments. You can also record audio comments, up to five seconds in length, for your still pictures.

More Features

  • Flip Animation: Allows you to create your own frame-by-frame animations.
  • Unlimited Consecutive Shooting: Allows consecutive shooting up to the capacity of the SD memory card.
  • 1.5-inch diagonal polycrystalline TFT LCD display (114k pixels)
  • Mega Burst Shooting Mode: Shoot up to seven images at three or two frames-per-second in standard resolution, or up to four images in fine resolution. This option is designed to provide you with the best selection of photos during action, such as a sporting event.

Storage and Transfer
Images and video are stored on Secure Digital (SD) memory cards. A 16 MB SD card is included. Files can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB connectivity, which means it can be connected to any USB-based Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.
