4-0 out of 5 stars Batteries
I have had no trouble with my phones except for the batteries and the problem with hold and tring to pick it up with a corded phone, but I can live with that. I get great range and clarity. I just can not find a replacement battery anywhere. Can any one help me ?

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheaper than cheap - the quality is [bad]
If you like to repeatedly punch buttons, you have super hearing and love to read manuals then by all means this is the phone for you - otherwise don't waste your money on this P.O.S.

This is by far the worst cordless phone system I have ever bought. I picked this one over others because of the price and because it had the 2 remote cradles and 2 handset - perfect for my home office, but this is greatly overshadowed by the POOR overall quality of these phones.

Overall sound quality of hearing someone speak thru this phone is downright [bad], it needs to be in an absolutely quite environment to hear anyone talk on this phone - then at that it sounds like a walkie talkie.

When you punch number buttons to dial out, most likely you will have to punch the number all over again to work, even though the display shows that you punched it in, it just doesn't make all the tones for each number you punched, so either punch it in all over again (and hope it takes this time) or hit the re-dial button which is lamely disguised as the "LNR" button (last number re-dialed). I thought well maybe it's just the one phone, let's try the other one, well same thing too with the second handset as well. Even when you try to disconnect you sometimes have to hit the button two or three times to disconnect.

If you want to use any other features other than make a phone call - forget it - you have to read the manual to figure it out as the button layout and abbreviations for each are hardly intuitive.

If there was a "zero" for rating products, that is what this product would have gotten but 1 was a low as this review would go.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hard to see, short battery life
I had this setup and returned it; besides the tiny display and uncertain use-time, the setup interferred with the operation of the normal funtioning of my other phones insofar as being able to pick up and talk on any extension after my phonemate 9800 had started its message-you are supposed to be able to pick up any extension and press * to shut off the machine and answer the line. While the 200 was hooked up, it was impossible to stop the answering machine, or talk to the caller...unless you were using one of those two Casio handsets. Since I have three other 2-line phones, this was intolerable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Review
Phone systems in built well and works well. Programing is a little time comsuming/difficult, but instructions are excellent.

Intercom between the two enclosed telephones is great. You can call between up to 12 handsets using the intercom feature and not tie up a telephone line.

One drawback. This phone will not allow user to put call on hold and allow call to be answered from another hardline (not cordless) telephone. (Call can be answered, but casio telephone keeps giving you a reminder call is still on hold.) ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Why settle for just an answering machine when you can also have caller ID and a speakerphone in the same unit? The Casio TA-140 also offers all-digital recording with permanent memory, voice-guided operation, and two greetings.

To set up the TA-140, we plugged in the AC adapter and connected the phone line. Without consulting the instructions, we correctly recorded the outgoing greeting by pressing Greeting Record, speaking our message, and pressing Greeting Record again to stop recording. We set the clock by pressing Time and then the up and down arrows, and we set the remote code by pressing Code and the up and down arrows. We followed similar steps to set the ringer (the unit has its own ringer) and the number of rings before answering (between two and nine or set to toll saver).

The TA-140 lets you turn the call waiting/caller ID feature on or off. You can also set the TA-140 to immediately answer calls that don't have caller ID information (caller ID-blocked calls) and set the local area code for caller ID. Unfortunately, the TA-140 supports only one local area code, making the auto-dialing feature less useful in cities with multiple area codes.

To test the TA-140, we recorded and played several messages. Its sound quality was good but not excellent, which is typical for most digital answering devices and is usually due to data compression. We especially liked the handy variable-speed playback feature that lets you slow down or speed up messages as you review them. The unit is rated to record for up to 14 minutes, but in our tests we were able to record only 8 minutes and 35 seconds before getting an out-of-memory error. The longest single message we could record was five minutes. The TA-140's memory is permanent until you press the Erase button, so you won't have to worry about losing your messages to power failures.

Overall, we think setting up the TA-140 was easy, especially with the helpful voice prompts to guide us. The speakerphone and caller ID features make it especially desirable.

Pros:

  • Easy to set up and use
  • Adjustable playback speed
  • Functions as speakerphone
  • Displays date and time even when there are no new calls

Cons:

  • Can't hear your prerecorded greeting unless you call the unit
  • Does not permit multiple local area codes
  • Recording time is less than 9 minutes

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally worth the price
After my old ten dollar (...) answering machine, I wanted something that did not drop messages, had good sound quality and wasn't too expensive. This is it. I read a lot of reviews saying the voice was tinny but I bought it anyway thinking that was a small compromise for all the features. You know what, the voice isn't tinny. It has timestamps which are good, remote access [...], the option to play messages back faster or slower than normal (which is great for when people leave their phone numbers and you have to hear the whole message again). I haven't used the caller id or switchable answering machine message features. The speakerphone works well and I use it often since I still have my college phone whose battery can't seem to stay charged for more than a few hours--but that's another story. Even shows you the day of the week. Just one thing - if you're erasing the last message, press erase before the message has completed or else it will delete all your messages.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Answering Machine
I purchased this plus an inexpensive cordless to replace my VTech-2960 because, two years after purchase, the VTech turned out to be a costly piece of junk! My kids had this Casio model and were really pleased with all of it's features and its dependability so I decided to get one also. It's great - it has more features than you expect with an answering machine (e.g. Caller ID, remote access, ringer, speakerphone, two outgoing message capability and more) plus it's really easy to program, which is nice for a change! The thing that I like the best though, is the fact that you can program this machine to send the unavailable numbers on incoming calls right to the message center - hasta la vista telemarketeers! No more dashes to answer the phone and then wonder why you bothered. That alone is worthwhile, as far as I'm concerned, but overall I'm very pleased with everything about this answering machine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value for an answering machine
The TA-140 is a nice little answering machine. There is a weird flaw in its operational design, which I will describe below, but this is compensated by at least one unique feature that I think is indispensible.

First, the flaw. Although the messages and caller ID log are linked together when you check your messages at home, they otherwise seem to be totally disconnected from each other. Examples: (1) caller ID info has to be deleted separately from the messages; (2) caller ID information can't be accessed when accessing messages remotely; (3) the machine does not even take advantage of the time-and-date info from caller ID to automatically synchronize the clock for the voice time stamps. The caller ID features really could have been better integrated.

But having said that, I must now turn around and point out another caller-ID-related feature that alone is worth the price of the whole machine. Anyone who's used caller ID for any stretch of time will know how telemarketers love to get around anonymous-call-blocking by using phone lines that don't send caller ID information--since the data is "unavailable," the calls are not treated like anonymous calls, so they get through. The TA-140 can be set to answer after the very first ring if it doesn't get a positive caller ID--thus catching both anonymous calls and calls with "unavailable" info, and allowing you to screen them. To me, this feature is an absolute godsend.

As far as all of the usual features one would come to expect from an answering machine, I have no complaints. Calls are picked up reliably, sound quality is good to excellent, and hang-ups rarely if ever cause a blank message to be stored.

Overall, I think this is a good value. More expensive machines might have more logical controls and a less tinny synthesized voice, but it more than adequately does the job.

(Added July 14, 2001: Do not believe the review about lack of remote access. You CAN call in and pick up your messages from this machine remotely, like most modern answering machines.)

2-0 out of 5 stars no remote access?
Without remote access, a longer message recording time (why not a half hour?), and provision for more than one local area code, this seems rather limited and old-fashioned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything you need in an answering machine and more...
I really like this answering machine. The main reason I bought it was because it has the caller ID / call waiting feature on it. I needed a caller ID box and an answering machine, but didn't want the clutter of having two things on my counter. This unit has it all in one and is half the price of other units that do the same thing. The speakerphone really comes in handy when you are dialing from the caller ID list. There is a check button that lets you check your greeting after you make it. It actually has two out going messages that you can store. It has a ringer on the unit that you can adjust. It also has a hold button. The sound quality was a typical digital sound that was pretty good but not excellent. The only thing that I didn't like was the manual did not come in book form. It came like a folded up map. So refolding it was a pain and finding functions that you wanted to do was also difficult. But that would not deter me from buying this product because it is truly a breeze to set up. Over all I'm really glad I bought this Casio answering machine and would highly recomend it. And the price is certainly very attractive. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Casio Phonemate CP-750 transmits on the 900 MHz band, so it offers clearer sound and less interference than phones using older lower-band technologies. This phone also includes call waiting/caller ID and stores and displays up to 50 numbers in its call history list, along with names and the dates and times of calls.

The CP-750 includes Modem Monitor, an especially helpful feature if you use a modem or fax machine on the same line as your phone. It knows the difference between voice and data calls, so it prevents you from accidentally interrupting an online session or a fax transmission in progress when you activate the handset.

The CP-750 handset includes a three-line display that shows the phone's status (whether or not it's in use) and the length of time you've been on your call. This display also shows the name, number, date, and time of each caller in the caller ID log. With "display and dial," you can scroll through names and numbers in caller ID log or in the autodial memory and then dial those numbers by just pressing a button.

The CP-750's other features include autodialing for up to 20 names and numbers, a toll-call indicator, and hold with extension release. In addition, this phone has a new-call indicator (an icon indicates the number of a new incoming call), a jack for an optional headset, and a belt clip. A light on the base goes on if you have received a new caller ID call. Even if you choose to mount the CP-750 on a wall, you can view the caller ID information--the handset will recharge whether it is face up or face down. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars as average as you can get
We've had this phone for a few months, and other than one consistent and minor annoyance, we're quite happy with it. On the good side, the battery charges quickly, the handset is comfortable, and the base is small enough to stay out of the way on our limited counter space. However, the battery has a shorter charge life than promised: max seems to be about 90 minutes. Also, if it's left off the base for more than an hour, the battery runs down, which was not a problem with our previous panasonic phone. The LCD display panel seems easy to read, and we've never had any issues with static or poor connections; at least not any that were the fault of this phone. Unless you're regularly on the phone for hours at time, it's a good little phone for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Completly rewarding!
I love this phone! It works great. I have had it for 3 months and my LCD screen is very easy to read. With the caller ID and call waiting it is also a plus. It charges easily, and works reliably. I highly reccomend this phone!

1-0 out of 5 stars A DISAPPOINTMENT
When I ordered this phone, I was not expecting anything fancy to begin with, but this phone was ridiculous. The LCD display is impossible to read and in the middle of a conversation, the phone would temporarily cut off. You could continue the conversation if the person on the other end didn't hang up by the time the phone came back on. Those were the only two things wrong with the phone, but I bought if for caller ID and being able to speak to people! I sent it back.

5-0 out of 5 stars Five star rating
I really liked this phone. The only bad thing on it is that the caller ID isn't very readible unless under light, but that is like most phones. All of the feuturs are great. The Hold feuture and the handset feuture are nessecery. If it comes a to phone I would get This one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Completely disappointing...
I ordered this product as a Christmas gift, and was thoroughly disappointed with the phone. The caller ID is displayed on an unlit LCD display, making it impossible to read in anything but bright daylight. After having the phone exchanged, the replacement was only marginally better, but it failed to recognize the base unit after 60 days of use. Finally, reaching Casio technical support is a toll call, which, after wading through the voice mail options, frequently disconnects you when transferring your call to an operator for assistance.

Overall, I'd recommend anyone considering this phone to pass on it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, clear sound quality
I have bought this answering machine for more than 6 months and I love it!!! The sound quality is good. Good price. Lots of useful features. It's so easy to use with big buttons and thier meaningful descriptions. I've read reviews and product descriptions. Its qualities and features reach all my expectation. Good choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Replacement for Your Old Cassette Answering Machine
I bought this economical model to replace an old PhoneMate model I got in 1988 and which went on the blink in 1993 due to the capstan drive for the message cassette having failed on me. Having this previous experience with PhoneMate and their likeable features induced me to seek a suitable replacement from the same company. This specific model appealed to me greatly and buying it from Amazon with their great prices and shipping made it a little more appealing to me. First, there's no audio tapes to worry about, so there's no degradation of your greeting(s) over a period of time as with constant use of audio cassettes, nor is there the operational problem of moving parts, as became the case with the old PhoneMate. Second, having the feasability to make your own 10 greeting messages is a nice feature although I opted to use the default PhoneMate machine greeting message, "Please Record Message", << beep >>. Still, it's nice to have a choice for when conditions dictate it. And the third feature that I found very nice to have is the storage area that you can transfer the message(s) to so you can "clear the que" in a manner of speaking. So is having that speakerphone option.

On the down side, the short amount of recording time pales when you compare it to the 30 minutes on the old PhoneMate cassettes. Consumers will have to be patient waiting for the industry to develop longer recording capabilities in this digital techonology. I found the speaker qualities to be close to the old PhoneMates in terms of understanding what the machine was saying, so it was no significant improvements there.

Overall, I'm glad I bought it. It's faster to operate compared to the old cassette versions from PhoneMate and there's no wear and tear. Ideally, it should last me a lot longer than the first PhoneMate I had. I'd recommend it to anyone who's familiar with the old answering machines, who's looking for a fine economical model and who can put up with a short amount of recording time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Difficult to Use, Poor Quality Sound
All the useful features of the Casio Phonemate TA-119 Answering Machine and Speakerphone prompted me to purchase it and try it out. While most of the features would normally be useful they are very difficult to use.

Programming the machine with multiple greetings using the greeting file was a difficult task thanks to the poorly worded and often confusing instructions. Switching from one greeting to another is even much more difficult. Switching the greetings evolves several steps and its actually easier to just record a new one each time the greeting needs to be changed. Furthermore, the greetings sound quality is very poor.

One could find many of the same features as in this machine without the useless greetings file for much less. I wouldn't recommend this answering machine for this reason.

4-0 out of 5 stars super product ,great features
this casico TA-119 is a great answering machine , it has some really nice features. Like greeting file, so you can store several out going greetings, and speaker phone.a great phone for the kitchen. when your hands are full, you dont have to get whatever you're making all over the phone, you can use the speaker. also very good clarity. This is a great machine for this price. ... Amazon.com Product Description

The TC945 is ideal for small offices or homes with two lines. Both lines can be answered simultaneously, and the recording system features voice prompts and time/day/line stamp, storing 28 minutes of messages between the two lines. Other cool features of the answering system include Advanced Message Management, which provides selective save and erase, instant access, and variable speed message playback. The phone claims to have "remote messaging," but strangely, that doesn't mean you can check messages from any phone, only that you can check messages from the cordless handset.

If you use your phone line to connect to the Internet, you'll appreciate this phone's Modem Monitor Connection Protection. When the phone line is being used by a modem or fax machine, the TC945 can tell the difference between data and voice conversations and won't let a voice caller interrupt a data connection. 1-0 out of 5 stars Glad to see it's not just me - this phone is a loser
I was shopping for a new phone today to replace this ..., and stumbled across these reviews. Glad to see it's not just me who is having problems with this phone. It looked like a great deal when I bought it, but mine suffers from all the same problems outlined by numerous reviewers already. It "loses" the handset, even when you pick it up right from the base - frequently, you have to hang it up again to let it reset before you can answer the phone. When the power goes out, even for a second, you have to pull the power cord out and remove the backup battery to get it working again, erasing all your messages and settings - so much for having a backup battery! Also, the sounds quality is poor compared to my cordless Lucent and Panasonic phones.

Do yourself a favor and take a pass on this phone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Feature rich - performance poor
I have owned this phone about 5 months now. I have had complaints from others about outbound sound quality at times. May biggest frustration is that when the handset is on the base and a call comes in, if you pick up the handset and try to answer too quickly, the handset seems unable to find the base and I end up having to answer/conduct the business call on the speakerphone, at least until I can hang up the handset and let it "resest" itself, synching up the security code I would guess. The answering machine is very versatile, but the battery backup doesn't seem to save messages when the power goes out, only the memory dial numbers! What good does that do?

Would keep looking....

5-0 out of 5 stars I guess I am the only one who loves it
This phone is great. It is clear and works great. It is also the only phone out there with this mix of features.

My one problem is that to make the battery life last REALLY long you have to turn off the ringer which means if you lose track of it you can't use the intercom feature to find it.

Thus I have lost the handset and now have to but a new one since nobody seems to sell just the part which I have spent hours searching for and making phone calls to everyone.

PS [With the cost of the handset] I may as well buy a new phone....

2-0 out of 5 stars A great buy: If you only want the date to work for 10 months
My family and I purchased this phone at a retail outlet. It seemed perfect, at the time the only phone with these features, however we have had some disappointments.

1. If you attempt to use the base speakerphone to answer a call while someone is on the headset on another line, the headset hangs up and the base takes over.

2. The ring on the headset is not at all loud, and is very easily mistakenly switched off.

3. The instruction manual is shady. It is written in a really annoying shade of blue that makes it almost unreadable, and even the content is scanty. There is little fine print nor easy to follow conditions for proving the phone was purchased within the one year warrenty in order to obtain a replacement.

4. After about 10 months the date began to malfunction. We did not abuse this phone in any way. The date remains stuck at tuesday 8:17 pm. It is very annoying, as you thus do not know when people have called. Reseting the clock has been futile.

Maybe we just got a lemon, but buyer beware, keep your reciept. I would give it four stars if it worked all of the time, but the malfunction and thus warrenty question have caused me to dock it to two stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, effective, EXCELLENT
It's inexpensive but not cheap. VERY easy to use, even remotely. It's amazing that such a good answering machine can cost so little. The remote operation uses voice commands, so you don't even have to remember the codes, just follow the voice.

Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great all around
I used this answering machine to replace my $8 a month voice-mail from the phone company. I have no major complaints from this great product, and it's even a cool looking see-through blue. Very easy to set up and operate, and I was pleasantly surprised that accessing messages remotely is as easy as with voice-mail. Very intuitive voice-prompted instructions on how to skip, delete, or save messages. Price cannot be beat if you ask me.

One of the reasons I like this one is that it allows callers to leave messages of up to 2 minutes (pretty sure), I hate those ones that cut people off after 30 seconds or so. 18 minutes of total recorded time for all messages.

If the item says out of stock, you may want to wait a couple of days and try again, that's what happened to me...a few days later it was available within 24 hours.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice machine
This small machine is a marvel. It does everything I wanted plus many other tricks I have not used yet. It is siimple to connect and is a great value for the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bang for the Buck
This machine is very handy. It has time and day stamp and is easily operable. The remote operation also works really well. It is pretty simple but it gets the job done. I don't need much, and this did the trick.

5-0 out of 5 stars A excellent answering machine
I don't know where to begin. About a month ago the answering machine that I originally owned broke. I had to look for a new one but I didn't have a that much money in my pocket to put into an answering machine. ... you are getting a well built, digital, and very nice looking answering machine. Setting the machine up took me about 8 minutes. All I had to do to record my message was push the "record" button and its that simple! The answering machine has 18 minutes of digital recording time. It also stamps each and every message with the time and date that the message was left. My favorite feature on this machine is that I can call it when I'm away from my house, enter a 3 digit numeric code, and get all of my messages no matter where I am! The machine also allows you to put a 9 volt battery inside of it so in case your power goes out you won't loose anything. You can also screen all of your calls and when you pick the phone up the machine stops recording. The one thing about this machine that I really like though is that it gives you the option of having the machine make a ringing noise when someone calls. My phone didn't come with a ringer on/off button so I unplug it at night. But if someone calls, I can adjust the volume of the ring on the machine so that I still know when someone is calling and the ring isn't loud enough to startle me. Bottom line, if you're looking for an excellent answering machine that is easy to use, easy to setup, and sleek looking then you have to get this! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars for the price it can make a small business more efficient
I bought 4 of the phones and I am online today to purchase another 3 phones. I have a very busy phone based brokerage business and as of yet I can't afford a full system -- the Casio system really fills the niche. We also had phone bleed problems but after investigation we realized our plug-in headsets from another company were causing the problem. I'd write more but work is a little busy and I just wanted to share that tip on phone bleed.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Features but Unusable
I originally purchased this phone because of its ability to act as a pbx system at a low cost. It would have been ideal for small businesses or offices.

The drawback is simply the sound quality. For a phone with such great potential, Casio should have put a little more work into this "small" detail.

While on the handset the volume was always too low no matter how high you had the volume. The speakerphone was useless. There is an additional jack (rj-11) for a headset however it was geared for the older style headsets which are expensive...

More importantly, while using this phone I was always asked to speak up by the party on the other end.

If you don't mind lacking sound quality in your phone system then this may be a good purchase. For me I would choose to go with a system with fewer features rather than not be heard.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfull
Phone received withing 3 days!Look and works like a new one.

Great service and gread Product.

Thanks.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre Office Phone
This phone will not work on it's own power, and requires a proprietory power supply made by Casio, which is a 120 v, power driven, wall wart type adapter. It isn't very long, so you can't go further away from the AC wall outlet than the length of that cord. It does have a battery backup so if your building power (120 volt A.C.) goes out, then your phone will still work, but I worry about battery corrosion harming the phone upon long periods of time with the batteries in the phone. Also, the volume on the handset seems to pick up alot of noise when you turn the volume up. It seems hard to hear your party on the other end of the phone conversation. This phone is fragile. I had the phone 2 weeks and it fell to the floor due to the tangled mess of cords running from the phone. It requires 3 wires to the phone. Two RJ-11 phone wires - one for each of two lines - and the power cord. The phone electronics inside the phone broke, and I had to send the phone in for repair (not covered by warranty). All in all a disappointing purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY THE BEST THERE IS FOR THE MONEY !!!!
This phone offers more flexibility and features for the money than anything else I've found on the market. And I've built a few call centers ...so I'm not a phone novice. Sure it has a few quirks - like you can only record the greetings from the handsfree speaker and it has a synthesized voice that plays "Your call will be answered shortly" when callers are transferred...but with an Auto Attendant that works and the ability to have up to 6 tiered greetings per station + voicemail at each station and up to 12 stations in the network that can all be paged and have intercom - THIS SYSTEM RULES. Add in the simple wiring that you already have or can do yourself and this kicks any small PBX right in the teeth as far as dollars spent.

It has some really handy features like the ability to redial a number from caller ID, a memo record feature, supports headsets and can be polled remotely for messages. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Generally a pretty decent phone.
All considered this seems to be a pretty decent phone. It is very clear and picks up very little interference. I only use it in the house so I can't speak for it's range, however it works fine in the house. Since it is smaller than our old phone(as are most newer phones) I find it a little uncomfortable to hold onto for longer conversations and the earpiece does not conform real well to my ear (too small). It has a volume control and when you place a call you usually have to turn the volume up because the initial volume does not seem to be very loud. This is a minor inconvenience but it can get annoying. If I were to grade this phone I would probably give it an A for performance and a C for comfort and convenience. I hope this helps you. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Big disappointment
I bought this phone with a couple of key expectations:

1. Clearer, louder, wider-range signal than my 900 MHz phone (inexpensive Uniden) and
2. A good answering machine, as my previous experience with Phonemate has generally been excellent

Failed on both counts! The signal, which was slightly better than the 900 MHz when I got it, is prone to interference from microwaves, tvs, you name it. Also, the handset volume has gotten fainter over time, to the extent that it is barely usable (and there's no indication that the battery is low).

The answering machine was a huge disappointment - the digital recording is so murky that you literally cannot understand messages, no matter what the volume or how close you place your ear to the speaker.

When I tried to find information on how to troubleshoot this equipment, I discovered that casio does not have a website anymore, at least not one that offers any product support...

All in all, I'd avoid this model like the plague. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great machine
This machine has performed wonderfully. It was very easy to set up and use. The display is easy to read and understand. I've been using it for 6 months and I'm not disappointed at all.

4-0 out of 5 stars One Feature Gives It The Edge
This is a fine answering machine, the controls are a bit confusing at times (it took me three tries to get my message recorded correctly) but overall it does its job. But one feature sets it apart. You can set it so it answers those "unknown name unknown number" calls on the first ring. If you get a lot of telemarketer calls, this is a must-have feature. As someone else mentioned, it would be nice if the phone didn't ring at all for these calls, but it's far better than most other answering machines. Goodbye telemarketers, I don't even reach for the phone any more unless it rings twice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Answers with special greeting on special ring
On normal ring this machine answers with one greeting and on special ring it answers with a different greeting. Having 2 phone numbers on one physical line this allows to give each number it's own greeting. The only thing not described in the manual was the greeting selection button. The machine answers normal ring with the greeting you selected with this button. If you accidentially press it you also suddenly answer the normal ring with special greeting and the special ring with normal greeting. I had several power outs due to the frequent lightnings here, but the machine always kept the messages. Sound quality is o.k., like an AM radio station. Timestamp and caller ID are assigned to each message, which makes it easy to quick-scan for important messages.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great machine, great price, great value
I have had this product for a few weeks now. I nearly didn't buy it because of a couple of bad reviews. However, I don't regret buying it for a second. It is good value for money, feature packed and easy to use.

For such a low price I don't see how you can get a more comprehensive answerphone / caller ID box. I would recommend this machine to anyone. The sound quality is just fine as long as you don't turn the volume up too high, and as yet I cannot fault the machine. You'd have to pay a lot more to do much better than this.

3-0 out of 5 stars average machine
I bought this because I read that it has a feature to direct unknown caller ID's immediately to voicemail. Unfortunately, the word "immediately" is not true. Your phone still rings once before voicemail picks up. I REALLY want something that will cause your phone to not even ring when caller ID is unknown/anonymous. I get 10 sales calls a day. The voice quality is very average - it's understandable. Nice thing about this answering machine is that it uses flash memeory and doesn't require a battery backup. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Beware of this machine...read on
Because this machine uses a microcassette, when it picks up a call, it will make plenty of noise to rewind and set the tape etc..

If I am sleeping, this machine has never failed to wake me up everytime with its loud analog gears.. even if I have the volume down all the way, even if I am in a different room and I have a door closed . Also if you turn the machine off, it is programmed to pick up the call after 15 rings. I thought nobody would ring me 15 times, but I was wrong. People did that and it woke me up every single time.

If this machine won't interfere with your sleeeping, it might be a good buy. The sound is very good on it (better than the digital machines). Functionally it is fine.
