Amazon.com Product Description

Steiner's 10x42 Predator binoculars are lightweight, roof-prism, center-focus hunting binoculars. They feature the same Predator "game sensing" lens coating as the Steiner 8x30 Predator. They offer a relative brightness of 11.09 and the advantage of enhanced contrast for spotting hidden game in the thickest foliage. The green objective lens coating blocks out the colors of haze and foliage and increases the transmission of brown, red, and other game colors. The wrap-around, long-eye-relief eyecups block distracting sidelight. The eyecups are constructed of soft rubber and provide 20 millimeters of eye relief for extended periods of comfortable viewing.

These binoculars provide 10x magnification and 42mm lenses for a field of view of 295 feet at 1,000 yards. The rugged forest green rubber construction provides both water and shock resistance to withstand rain, moisture, and jarring.Along with the binoculars, you receive a case, a neoprene strap, and attached objective lens caps. Steiner, Europe's binocular specialist for more than 50 years, backs its 10x42 Predator binoculars with a 30-year warranty. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Steiner Predator 10X42 Binoculars
I've owned and looked through many different pairs of binoculars and I can honestly say for the money Steiner's are the way to go. You could spend more money, but why? The best testimonial I can give is the reaction people give me when they look through my Steiners. "I've got to have a pair!" The exact thought I had, when I first looked through an old pair of Big Horn 9X40's. The Predator 10X42's picture is clear, crisp and sharp, even at night. Get a pair and look at a full moon, you can see craters. My 10X42's go with me wherever I go, and they always will.

3-0 out of 5 stars Over priced in my opinion
Despite being well reviewed in a UK magazine, these binoculars suffer from obvious false colour. I bought a pair and was astonished to find that birds in flight are surrounded by a multi-colour blur, the surface of a pond turned purple, and a Shelduck sprouted two extra necks. In my opionion these binoculars are not worth the high price. I now stick to my cheap Nikon Egret IIs as they give significantly better images.

5-0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING!
These binocs are outstanding (in case you missed the subject line). Incredible detail, lightweight, rugged. Definitely in the same class as Swarovski or Zeiss. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT Binoculars- why spend more?
I did a lot of research before plunking down more than [money] for a pair of binoculars. After many side-by-side comparisons with the Zeiss, Leica and Swarovski instuments costing at least twice as much, I simply couldn't see enough of a difference to justify the added cost. If money is no object, the Swarovski's are probably the best of the best but they are certainly not twice as better as the Steiners! The Steiner Predator binoculars are perfect for use in the woods so they would a great choice for hunting and birdwatching. I've carried them for the past three years and have never been disappointed. I can also highly recommend the Pentax DCF WP binoculars which are less than the Steiners, very clear and rugged.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delicious
Steiner products have always been of very high quality and well worth the price. Wheather your spotting game or just fooling around they always prove to be very dependable. While I,ve just recently purchased this pair my grandfather has had his for 11 years, still in fine condition. The rubber coating is very durable. Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars it's all in the glass!
i have tried them all--the compacts. there are some really good ones. but none that i tried compared to the rocky 10x28.it's the CLARITY, stupid!!(no offense!!).it's definitely not the economy, stupid, because these are pricey--unless you can find one at the discontinued price. i called steiner and they said these are "completely waterproof". it is incredible how far away you can see with clarity. also, the diopter stays put. that's an annoyance on some other great compacts. and what i found so nice is the ergonomics-thumb indentions help you steady the view and and the rubber armoring is superb-- you feel like you and your binoc are one. i couldn't be happier, and believe me, i researched a long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Small but Mighty
Fantastic quality in a very compact package. Excellent power. Field of view is small but very clear. Have used for golf, basketball, football and theater events etc. Light weight and very compact when folded up to store. Highly recommended ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Way Cool
I too bought these for boating, and find the image stabalized compass really helpful. Without the stabilization, the compass would swing around 15 degrees either side, with it, maybe 1-3 degrees. I expecially enjoy the fact that I can adjust for my vision once, and not touch the focus -- ever... I can also read the compass with my glasses on -- and that is unusual for some units I tried.

Yes, get the flotation strap.. Dolts will drop them...

5-0 out of 5 stars This piece is a jewel.
I bought the binoculars 4 years ago and used them mainly for boating.I only can reconfirm the previous review. The optics are superb, giving a good view in low light conditions and even at night. I had no need to change the battery for the compass light in these four years, but used the compass illumination may be no more than 20 times. Buying these binoculars seems expensiv, but it is like aquiring a jewel. With a little of care you will not need to buy other binoculars for the rest of your live.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sets the standard
I've had a pair of these for about two years now; they have given outstanding performance on and off the water. The light-gathering ability at night is almost unreal - almost like a night-vision scope. Clarity of vision in all lighting conditions is superb. Collimation is excellent. Optical quality is typical Steiner - none better. Compass is extremely accurate. When they get crusted with salt, a light spray-off with fresh water cleans them up nicely. One complaint: the little batteries which run the night illumination on the compass are quite difficult to remove and replace. 2 caveats if you buy these binos: definitely get a flotation strap, in case some dolt drops them overboard; don't loan them out, as it will be damn tough to get them back. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice but some limitations
Large, bright, UNIFORM, sharp image. No chromotatic distortion (color fringes) anywhere in the image (not even the edges).

Large and heavy. Lens caps for the eyepieces are real junkie. No central focus (each eyepiece has a sperate focus adjustment).

5-0 out of 5 stars Like Turning on the lights
I got these as a birthday present several years ago (thanks folks) and have used them since. the clarity and light is amazing, and makes them a dream to use even if you are looking through them for long periods.

while many people have never heard of the brand, and are a little suspicious of the wierd blue colour, a first look always results in a "wow, these must be expensive binoculars!!".

they are solid, easy to hold, easy to focus, and clear clear clear. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Awesome!
The optics are superb, it's actually slightly brighter then the human eye, at least to me... I would recommend this to anybody... One thing that is bad about it is holding the lil' bugger, you have to hold it in a strange fashion, that makes you look weird :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent range equipment
Small, lightweight with very bright optics. Fits in a coat pocket and it great for spotting shots at the range to about 100 feet-- I use it for match pistol shooting when I am too lazy to set up my spotting scope. It would also be excellent to carry for impromtu bird watching. ... Read more
