Amazon.com Product Description

Samsung has combined three of today's most popular electronic gadgets--digital cameras, MP3 players, and Webcams--into one compact device: the Digimax 35 MP3 digital camera. A true point-and-shoot camera, the Digimax uses a fixed-focus lens to provide simple operation, letting you worry about finding the perfect shot instead of finding the right camera settings. The 640 x 480 resolution of the Digimax makes great pictures to post on a Web site or send via e-mail.

The Digimax 35 MP3 really shines when used in conjunction with its included accessories. The software that comes with the camera helps you to create panoramic shots, as well as animations and simulated 3-D images, and a small tripod makes it easy to use the camera as a Webcam.

As mentioned above, two features set the Digimax 35 MP3 apart from other point-and-shoot digital cameras: an integrated MP3 player, and the ability to act as a Webcam. In MP3 mode, the camera plays files stored on CompactFlash cards. The camera's included 8 MB card will hold only about eight minutes of music--a couple of songs--so if you plan to use this feature, you'll want to invest in a larger-capacity memory card. As a Webcam, the camera can shoot footage at 5 frames per second (fps) at a resolution of 320 x 240, or 15 fps at a resolution of 160 x 120. A USB connection ensures speedy music and image transfers. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Samsung Digimax 35 MP3 player.
Recently received this camera as a gift. Had to buy 64 megs of ram to store some MP3's. The 8 megs will hold about 1 or 2 songs. Found the camera to use batteries like they were going out of style. The camera processes the images very slowly, about every 10-12 seconds until you can take the next picture. Even longer when using the flash. Wouldn't recommend buying this camera if you want good quality pictures. Only about half of the pictures are somewhat clear. Compared to better camera's, the price is about right for the items that come in the package. The Mp3 player should have a few more options. It plays music just fine. Very small camera. If it took good pictures, it would be a great camera for longer trips because of its portability. The web cam is adjustable to only 30 fps(frames per second). The software must have a few bugs. It doesn't always respond and freezes up once in a while. The additional software for making AVI's, panoramic and 3-D pictures is pretty cool.

1-0 out of 5 stars WORST CAMERA I'VE EVER SEEN
In August 2001, I bought a Samsung Digimax 35 MP3, the first Samsung product I bought, and I feel very disappointed about it. It certainly possesses a number of features making it attractive, such as a fancy design, portability, easiness of operation, easy-to-use software etc. But when it comes to performance, it's very disappointing for the following reasons:
(1) EXTREMELY poor image quality, in what concerns range of colors. The images all look very much alike: brown-gray. No sharp colors, nor any vivid colors. It's hard to accept that a digital camera of these days performs so poorly in this respect. Right from the start, I was willing to accept a limited image size in exchange for the camera's price, but I never, ever could imagine that its color performance could be so bad.
(2) EXTREMELY limited luminosity range. Again, I can't accept that a digital camera could be so limited in this respect. It looks like I'm trying to use a ISO 25 film to take night shots, but I'm using a digital camera to photograph in a room with reasonable lighting, or even at open air at dawn or dusk. How can a digital camera have such a limited lux range?
(3) EXTREMELY poor image sharpness. All it takes is just a little less than full Sun light and we get fuzzy edges and, more frequently than not, blurred images. It's just unbelievable!
(4) The camera shuts itself down after a very short time, so whenever I'm about to take a snapshot, I almost always miss the opportunity. And it takes an incredibly long time to start-up again.
(5) Very high battery consumption, or, if one prefers to put it reversibly, very low energy storage capacity. I just can't fill-up the camera's memory chip before having to change the batteries. Such a strange (=poor) engineering design. For all the reasons above, I'm convinced that the Digimax 35 mp3 is not worth at all the US$ 200.00 I paid for it.
Digimax 35 MP3 is sold as a camera that also records MP3. Since I didn't buy the camera because of MP3, I have never used its MP3 features. So, giving you the benefit of doubt to say its a good MP3 device, this thing should be sold as an MP3 recorder that, by the way, can be used marginally to shoot some low resolution, blue-and-brown photos once in a while.
My wife keeps telling me to sell the camera to get the money back, but I don't feel comfortable charging anything to anyone just ofr getting rid of this such low-performance equipment. And what I do want to do is having a camera worth the price I paid for it.
I tried to send this review/complaint to Samsung many many many times through their "contact us" e-mail address, but all I get are error messages.

5-0 out of 5 stars all in one product!!!
this product is very nice for beginners to digital imaging. It has all capabilities of playing mp3,taking photos and sending videos. Compare to other products I would say that the photos are sharp enough but it is slow to make videos.By 16mb memory card you can take your favorite mp3s to listen. If you want to get sharp images with high quality this product is not for you but considering price it is the one of the best price/quality product.I have used this to send my photos to my family and they liked the images.

1-0 out of 5 stars Injures 3 birds with 1 stone
I recieved one of these things free from iwin.com. Although a cool idea, this thing is poor at everything it does. The pictures are blurry, the performance from the webcam is probably terrible, and the mp3 player is a joke. Here are my complaints:

1. Driver intstallation was a failure on the pc I intended to use this device on. It worked on a second PC no problem, but even downloading the latest drivers from samsung was no help on pc #1.

2. 8MB compact flash is way too little. You'll want to shell out $40-$100 for a much more storage. Unless you want to listen to the same song over and over again, or only have the ability to take a few pictures.

3. Earphone plug is tiny (I think 1/16" plug) so forget about using your own earphones or car adapter. The included earphones are low quality.

4. MP3 controls are terrible on the device. You have to press mode several times to do anything.

5. Flash offers 2 modes "auto" and off. Using auto, the camera decides if it's going to use the flash. If it's not using it, the picture is taken on the first press of the button. If it is, you have to press the button once to charge the flash, and a second time to take the picture. This means when you press the button, you have to be ready for the picture to be taken right then, but the possibility remains that it may have to charge for awhile. Very annoying!!

6. The video capture feature crashed my computer. Generally USB capture devices are low quality anyway, so don't expect anything special from this assuming you can get it to work.

So to sum up, this device attempts to perform 3 cool functions, but comes up short in all categories. Trust me.. I love gadgets, but not this one. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! You have been warned.

1-0 out of 5 stars weird headphone connector
what is the point of making an mp3 player with some weird headphone connector that is unlike any connector on any other piece of equipment, and only fits the headphones that camne wiht the machine? manufacturers as stupid as this deserve to be boycotted for all time. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Hi8 may have been overlooked as of late because of the digital revolution, but it is still tops in the analog world and provides outstanding performance and value for price-conscious buyers. Samsung's SCL770 packs a punch with its 2.5-inch LCD screen, 22x optical zoom, 10 digital special effects, picture-in-picture, and video light. Most unique is the worldwide AC adapter and multisystem output, which means you can charge your battery at any power outlet and playback your video on either NTSC or PAL systems.

Lens
The optical zoom magnifies up to 22 times, while the digital zoom, which works by electronically enhancing the optical image, reaches up to 880 times. The zoom toggle is pressure sensitive so you can control the speed of your zooms. The SCL770 has video effects that you can apply to your video, like sepia, black and white, negative, mirror, art, mosaic, wide, and 16:9 cinema.

Digital Stills
When set to the snapshot mode, a still image is captured and recorded onto the tape for six seconds. You can transfer these photos to a PC with the USB interface. Also included is MGI's PhotoSuite so you can easily edit your photos and share them with others over the Internet.

Inputs and Outputs
The standard RCA input-output and cable is included so you can hook the camcorder to a TV for convenient viewing or a VCR for dubbing to regular VHS. The USB connection can be used for transferring your video onto your PC for movie editing or allowing the SLC770 to work as a PC camera. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Tape eater
When I first bought this cam it constantly ate the tape it came with. I brought it back to the store and they replaced the cam. Now 6 months later I have the same problem and the store tells me that my 3 month waranty is over. I explained them that the cam has the same problem as the first, but the answer remained,"your 3 months are over!!".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Deal!
This was a great deal what a cute little camera. You can upload movies onto your computer, view your movies via the television and also record movies onto a blank VHS tape! Why spend the big bucks on a digital?

4-0 out of 5 stars A great value.
This camcorder is a bridge to the next generation (digital). I was looking for a digital (MiniDV) format camcorder, but at the moment, there are a couple of disadvantages to them. One is the relatively high cost, the other is rather poor low or moderate light performance. Since much of my shooting occurs indoors, this was simply unacceptable. I'll wait a year or two for things to get better with the Digital camcorders, but in the meantime, this SCL770 is a great bridge between the two formats. You get the relatively low price, and good low light performance of a Hi8 camera, plus you can use its USB connection to download a decent image (moving or still). You can even use it as a webcam! This should suit many of us just fine who are waiting for the digital camcorders to really mature, in capabilities and in price.

The only real negative I have come across at this time is the relatively short life span of the included battery. If you plan on using the LCD alot and shooting alot of footage between charges, I would suggest buying and upgraded battery.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW, TOO GOOD
Great Camcorder, I love it. The best I have ever owned. Easy to run. Battery Charges very fast and last for over a hour.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best BUY!
Best Camcoder for Best Price! Batteries enough only for 1 HOUR! Too bad for travelers! Need to buy extra battery! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera!
I absolutely love this camera. I paid $170 3 years ago and it was a great investment. I have never had any problems with it. The zoom is the best feature about this camera. I've been able to take some awesome pictures of the moon with 1600 speed film. Great camera!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutley beautiful shots
I took this on a trip down the Rhine with a friend. She had her Cannon EOS Rebel 2000 and I gotta tell you, all my shots came out much better than hers and I paid $200.00 less! The colors were more vivid, the shots were sharp and in perfect focus, even the zoom shots.
My mother used this camera at my wedding and her shots came out better than the photographers! And she usually takes horrible pictures! (She can consistently get her thumb in every shot!)
What a great camera.
However.....
The lens cover tends to stick open and I am afraid the lens will get scratched. Also, it doesn't have the night portrait mode and I really thing that is a great mode to have for travel.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Samsung Maxima 105 GLM is a fine zoom at a great price.
I read prior reviews of the Samsung 105 where complaints of missed shots were made. My Samsung 105 GLM was bought & tested by me before this review. I'd had two automatic tiny point & shoots including a non-zoom Konica (a heckuva fine camera, too) that was used by my wife for about a dozen years. I'd learned to depress the shutter button halfway for a split second to allow preset commands and auto focus to work properly and never had a missed shot even on a jet boat in Hell's Canyon white water! This is in the Samsung manual!

My experience with the S-105 GLM proved it to be a solid- if tiny & pocket sized, full-featured quality device for comparatively little money. No, I am not in any camera business nor am I affiliated with Samsung or Amazon, but I have been a camera semi-pro for much of my 80 years! My work had been used, too, in many court cases when I was sworn.

5-0 out of 5 stars Decent camera at a decent price
I got this camera just recently and must say that it is exactly what it appears to be - a good camera for a price that won't have you cringing when you get the bill - I tried out a few "zoom" cameras before this, and I was much more impressed with the zoom in this camera (it was very smooth whereas the others tended to be slightly jerky). The camera itself is also very user friendly.

1-0 out of 5 stars Auto Focus Defective!!
The Auto focus was malfunctioning. It take pictures most of the time. But in some situations, it does not take the picture how much ever you press the shutter. (I returned mine)

The zoom buttons should be designed away from the shutter. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera for the price.
I just recently bought this camera since the one i'v had for the past 5 years decided to break on me.
When I took this item out of its box the first thing I noticed was that it wasn't some cheap basically throw it away in the next year or so camera. It's very durable and is the most simple camera I have ever owned. The film loading is a snap and the zoom feature is really cool. This is a great camera for taking snap shots and to take on a trip with you because its not big and bulky.
I paid $49 for it and for the price I think it is well worth the money. ... Read more

Small enough to fit into your pocket, Samsung's Maxima 1050Ti still has many features to make it an effective point and shoot camera. The 2.8x (38 to 105 millimeters) zoom opens up possibilities when taking pictures. The camera's automatic shutter system ranges from speeds of 1/400 second to even 60 seconds for long exposure shots. 2-0 out of 5 stars Borders on being a toy.
You can (and should) do a lot better than this in a digital camera at this price. It has a rather low resolution, a fixed focus lens, no zoom, and no USB connectivity. Anyone interested in simple digital photography will very soon be looking for a more advanced camera, while the SDC-80 gathers dust in a drawer. If you want cheap, look at the JamCams; if you want easy, look at the Sony Mavs.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very hip thing
