4-0 out of 5 stars NEARLY AS GOOD AS POINT AND SHOOT GETS!
The world of point and shoot cameras is one filled with everything from children's toys to real visual tools. The Rollei 115mm camera sits in a spot near the top. Although not quite as refined as the Yashica T4, it gives the user something that the Yashica dies not-- The Rollei mark and unquestioned build quality. If you are looking for the next best thing to an SLR--look no further.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Titles w/1 drawback
I bought this camera in Asia and it's one of the best sellers there this summer! The feature that I love the most is the ability to select different captions other then the standard date/time for your photos. They have quotes such as i love you, thank you and happy birthday, etc. It just makes some memories more special! Rollei is a well respected brand name as well. The only drawback is the non covered lens. Other then that, this camera is a great deal for the many functions (ie. multiple exposure) that it provides for the price. ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars A clarification
I needed to clarify something I said in my previous review. I mentioned that the "spot focus" feature was very useful. I meant to say that the "focus lock" feature was very useful. This is a great thing to have and probably most small point and shoot cameras lack it.

This feature allows you to focus on your main subject in the center of the viewfinder, and then to lock the focus and to move off-center to include another part of the scene in the composition. Since most point and shoots focus on whatever is in the center of the viewfinder, this is a nice capability to have for certain situations.

Again, whether you have a Prego 90 or 125, they are great little cameras and probably the best out there. I recently visited a large store here where they had over two dozen different point and shoots on display to research the current offerings for a friend who wants to buy a compact camera, and I think the Rollei is still my first choice.

Two other new offerings that are very interesting are the new Nikon 125 35mm point and shoot, which offers a Panoramic mode similar to APS cameras, and the Minolta Freedom Zoom 125. Both incorporate aspherical lens elements where are reputed to produce a very sharp lens. If you're not sure about the Rollei you should check these out two.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rollei Prego Cameras
I do not own this model, but I do own the Rollei Prego 90 and the Rollei Prego 145. I also own Nikons. I have found the Rollei Prego series point-and-shoot cameras to be the best in every way of any I have ever used: razor sharp focusing, consistent exposures, loaded with very useful features that all work, very reliable, and very user-friendly...clearly my favorite. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Sharp photos!
I recently purchased the Rollei Prego 140mm 35mm camera (in place of the Leica Z2X as my 1st option & at that time, out-of-stock) & was very satisfied with the sharp images it took. However, I found the viewfinder a bit too small, sometimes hard to find, & the casing, a bit "cheapy", which makes it really light to carry on the other hand. I guess, you can't have it all. For the sharp pictures the camera took, I can overlook the camera's not-so-important "inferior" features, although for the price you pay for it, you'd at least expect better craftmanship.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great long zoom point and shoot camera
Very sharp lens, various exposure and flash modes. The shake warning indicator is very usefull, specialy at no-flash mode or long tele (above 90mm). I have tested this camera to take pictures in various lighting condition, outdoor and indoor. All resulting pictures are very sharp. Of course I use a tripod in some conditions. This is a good choice for a long zoom point and shoot camera. Sharp under the right conditions that a point and shoot is made for. Don't dream a miracle picture like professional slr can produce. It still a point and shoot camera. The only weakness of this camera is the rear cover. Although the front cover is made from metal, the rear cover is made from plastic, it look like cheap fragile material.

2-0 out of 5 stars I'm almost glad it was stolen!
I purchased this Rollei about 18 months ago as a replacement for an Olympus Zoom that I had enjoyed for several years. After many rolls of film the camera was stolen on a recent vacation, and I was almost glad! The Scheider optics that the Rollei literature brags about did not translate into quality pictures. The contrast was low and flat, and the flash exposures were pitiful compared to the lost Olympus. The controls and settings were confusing and forced me to carry the manual for a long time in order to be sure I would know how to operate the camera and I never did master it. I have been a amatuer photographer for 30 years and own 2 Nikon FE bodies and an assortment of Nikon lenses. I understand the fundamentals of photography. The Olympus was purchased for my wife but I found myself using it quite a bit. It was much easier to use and the resulting photographs were better exposed and sharper than the Rollei Prego. One note to anyone that thinks that a long zoom is essential -- keep in mind that at long zoom ranges the lense is at it's slowest resulting more often than not in shots that are blurred because the camera cannot be held steady enough for the longer exposure. Consider a more moderate length zoom - 70 or maybe 80mm should be plenty without spending more for the opportunity of making unacceptable photos and consider the speed of the lense through the entire range of the zoom. One more thing -- check out the reviews for the Olympus line of cameras and if you can live without a zoom, consider the Yashica T4 Super, too! Goodluck.
