Amazon.com Product Description

Whether you're planning to shoot the next independent film hit or simply record your vacation, RCA's CC9370 AutoShot compact digital camcorder has the quality and features to make your movies look their best. A 680,000-pixel CCD delivers outstanding resolution, and with the swiveling 3-inch color LCD monitor, the camcorder can be operated from any angle. A 10x optical/250x digital zoom lens brings distant scenes closer, and the built-in image stabilization helps to keep the shakes out of your recording.

In addition to the camcorder features, the RCA can also function as a digital still camera. The still images are stored on the digital videotape and can be downloaded onto your PC via the provided serial cable. The 640 x 480 image resolution, though low by current digital camera standards, is perfect for photos you'll be e-mailing or posting on the Web.

To keep your videos lively, the camcorder offers a large selection of digital effects and scene transitions. Exercise your creativity with effects like classic film, strobe, slow shutter, black and white, and many more. A random-assemble editing feature provides an eight-scene memory for favorite scenes as well as the ability to add special effects. The camera also includes playback zoom for enhanced viewing.

Like most digital camcorders, the RCA includes an IEEE 1394 port and cable for communication with computers and editing devices. In addition, the camera connects to TVs via standard analog AV connectors or S-video connectors. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Overall, a good DV camcorder...
I recently purchased this camcorder for my wife, who will be taking it back to Canada when she visits her parents for a month. We've been trying it out, and have been extremely impressed by the ease of use, not to mention the excellent video/audio quality. The menu system is easy to get used to - however, if you're anything like me, you'll probably be fumbling with it to get to the effects you wish to use - it doesn't seem that there is any way to switch between them quickly. As well, the digital still (photoshot) function of this camcorder is wonderful - who needs a digital camera? (Okay, so that comment will probably get me into some hot water).

The only gripe about this camcorder is that it is next to impossible to find extra/replacement batteries - as the included battery only lasts for one hour (if that...), I decided to pick up an extended life battery - unfortunately, the RCA.... website did not have anything listed! However, I did find one site ...which does carry both the standard and extended life battery, although you pay a premium for both of them (I expect that this will change, as this camcorder is a great product).

Great zoom functions, too. I love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Toy
Haven't had the camera too long but electronics change so fast that if I delay I run the risk of writing an review on an obsolete item. I've probably only run the camera for an hour or so but I haven't had a problem. The camera is easy to use and works great.

I've been able to download and upload video to a windows computer using the "actiontec" firewire card (which I don't think is sold here). The card works fine with this camera. When using the video editing/capture software you can completely control the camera from software and don't have to touch the camera. Its easy to get the impression from reading online comments that its rare to get a digital camera to play nicely with a computer. Well, here is one case where everything worked without a hitch. With an [$] piece of hardware and software and a huge hard drive (well, a few free GB is enough to get you started) you can get introduced to the world of digital video editing.

One strange thing I did notice about this camera was that in the manual it mentions that if the LCD screen is swiveled 180 degrees (pointing towards the subject) the viewfinder becomes active. This doesn't seem to be the case for my camera.

So far I have been unable to figure out how to extract the still images from the camera. Its easy to use this feature and I believe that it captures slightly higher resolution images in this mode but my DV software doesn't seem to support this feature. I would really like to use this to send quick snapshots over email (videos are still not very practical over email).

Overall, great sharp picture, decent microphone (no support for external microphone however), good exposure, auto-focus seems a little slow sometimes and in extreme cases (too close) fails.

1-0 out of 5 stars Make sure there is a battery
I just got one of these camcorders off of this same site. When I got the camera there was no battery pack and or charger. its been about six months and I still cant find one anywhere not even on this site. Ive wasted about a hundred dollers on differnt chargers that dont even work. now the camera sits in my room with no use to it because I cant find a battery. also its to late to return it so now im stuck...... ...............THANKS TO WHO EVER I BOUGHT THIS FROM

3-0 out of 5 stars Worked great for a while
I purchased this camera in July 2001 and generally it has worked very well. It took great movies and I had no trouble connecting it to my firewire card to download movies. However, since we purchased it we received intermittant e04 errors that we could not always correct by resetting the camera. The RCA website is no help, in fact it will not even allow you to register a camcorder as a product! Overall the it did take great movies, however I have been very dissatisfied with the camera's reliability and with RCA's support of it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy RCA ...
I purchased this camcorder a few months ago from Amazon. The camcorder all of sudden stopped playing the tapes. We received [an] estimate to get fix the problem with no guarantees that this new part will be long term fix.... ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

RCA's CC9373 makes it easy to capture precious family moments. The camcorder features a 10x optical (400x digital) zoom lens and includes image stabilization for steady shooting. Footage is captured by a 680,000 pixel CCD sensor and recorded at 520 lines of resolution--the MiniDV standard. The camera comes with a 3-inch LCD for framing your shots, or, for a more traditional shooting posture and longer battery life, you can choose to use the electronic viewfinder (EVF). The camcorder also doubles as a digital still camera, letting you capture snapshots and store them on the included 16 MB MultiMediaCard.

In addition to the usual connections for hooking your camcorder up to your television, the CC9373 comes with both USB and IEEE 1394 ports. The IEEE 1394 (FireWire) port is used to transfer video to a computer for editing, while the USB connection facilitates the transfer of still images. Most Macs now include an IEEE 1394 port, but if you're a PC user, you'll probably need to add an IEEE 1394 port to your computer.

The camera also features a built-in spotlight for improved color in low-light situations. The package includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, plus a USB cable and software for manipulating still photos. The unit is compatible with RCA universal remotes. ... Read more

had windows 98 couldn't download driver finally bought a new tower came with windows xp now I find out that they don't have a driver for the xp also have a digital camera csd 4100 same problem what to do?

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, for the low blowout price
For Amazon's blow out price, you can't touch a Mini-DV recorder, let alone get one with a 3" LCD display. However, some clarification is required to Amazon's page. The camcorder does NOT have a color electronic viewfinder (EVF) as stated in the description. Amazon has been notified of the error.
Compared to my 8 year old VHS-C camcorder, the picture quality is like comparing DVD to VHS tape recordings. Images from the Mini-DV system are much cleaner. Then there is the size; nice, small and lightweight.
One final note, you'll find this camcorder bares a very strong resemblance to the JVC models (GR-DVL815), wonder why?

4-0 out of 5 stars I loved it
I bought this camcorder back in November of 2001. I used it until March, when it got stolen. I really enjoyed owning this camera. It's light, easy to maneuver, and the menus are easy to navigate. However, it did not take very good shots in bright light. It comes with all the cables and software necessary to hook on to the computer and to the TV. RCA discontinued this model, but if you come across it, buy it-I recommend this camcorder to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
...The camcorder took a good video and the still pix. were good in good lighting conditions, but I was disappointed with the pix. quality in lower light settings. Also, be very careful loading the cassette. I was loading the mini-DV cassette and loaded it the wrong way,(wrong side facing out) the tape jammed in the camera, called RCA & they gave me a local repair shop to take it for tape removal. I had to pay...for them to even look at it, took them 2 weeks to get back with me that the inner workings were damaged and would cost me [more] to repair. Of course it wasn't covered by the warranty...

2-0 out of 5 stars okay camcorder with consolidated features
I bought this camera from the HSN.com for... with an upgraded 16MB removable memory. The picture quality of the video is better than a VHS-C camcorder but not better than the ANY Sony 8mm camcorder. Don't let the 400X digital zoom open your eyes. A Sony with 320X digital zoom doesnt break-up compared to the RCA w/ 400x. The still feature of the RCA is only good for close ups with good lighting. It is 480x640. This is one of the lowest resolution settings on cheap digital cameras. I believe that this is equivalent to 0.3 megapixels. For the price it is okay. But for... you are better buying a Sony 8mm camcorder at Walmart for... and then the 2.1 megapixel Sony digital camera for the same price. Unless you want an easy 1 step camera, the RCA 9373 may be you answer. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The RCA CC-6263 camcorder uses VHS-C tapes, which are simply smaller VHS tapes. You can play your tapes in any VCR with the included cassette adapter. This feature also allows the manufacturer to make a compact, affordable camcorder--it weighs only 1.6 pounds and is quite portable. RCA designed this model with convenience in mind. It has a built-in AutoShot feature that automatically focuses and adjusts to available light. The LCD color monitor lets you see exactly what you're taping. The CC-6263 includes the Steady Pix feature, which corrects slight shaking of images--especially handy for zooming in on a distant subject, recording an approaching small subject, recording while walking, or recording from a moving vehicle. Your viewers will appreciate this feature during playback because it will make your recording easier to watch.

The CC-6263 has a fade-in and -out option that adds a professional touch to your recordings. For artistic flexibility, RCA includes the wide-format 16:9 mode. You can also record in a special animation mode that creates the illusion of movement for an otherwise stationary scene when you shoot a series of slightly different poses. The time-lapse recording mode shows subtle changes when focused on an object (such as plant growth or cloud formations). You do this by programming the CC-6263 to record at preset time intervals.

The playback options include position on the tape, visual search, stop-action pause, time counter, tracking, and time base corrector. The CC-6263 includes a rechargeable battery, AC adapter and charger, shoulder strap, cassette adapter, cassette adapter battery, and a clock cell. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars decent
this is a good camera ...the door is flismy
and i had the battery lose its charge several times
my new problem is the viewfinder decided to give up on me
with a white screen ...grrrr
anyways it was an awesome camera while it lasted
rock and roll!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best basic vhs-c camcorder!
Lights, Action, Camera...This is a very good camera; light, easy to use, simple to understand, all controls are easy to reach, picks up the sound of a needle dropping on the floor, vcr mode lets you playback what you taped, and great in low light! Also, less gadgets mean longer battery duration! But, it does NOT have a view screen on the side (that lets you take your eye away from the viewer), or a speaker to let you hear sound during playback, or a light. If you like to keep things simple, Buy It!...fade to black.

1-0 out of 5 stars NICE WHILE IT LASTED, WHICH WASN'T LONG
This camera has many good features, and I found it easy to use. Unfortunately, after only 14 months of light usage, the electronics developed gremlins. The viewfinder suddenly went from color to black and white, the door began popping open on its own, and soon the viewfinder was only working half the time. The camera wasn't abused; I was filming with it one morning and it was performing normally, then suddenly not. I attempted to get a repair estimate and it wasn't easy, even at designated RCA repair shops. I was told that it would cost less to buy a new camera than it would to have this one fixed. I'm disappointed in RCA re this product. Granted, it's an inexpensive camera, but I expected a little more longevity than this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good But scaled Back
I got this Camera For christmas. It's Good quality, Lightweight,Portable And a all around good camera. There were onle a few problems. There is no light on the camera there is suposed to be one but i duno what happend. The door is kinda flimsy i havent had problems with it but i would think that for some people that might be a drawback. i also noticed that the timelapse features are kinda bad but other than that it's a very good camera. If i were u and i was looking for a cheap good camera i would get it. I did

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent product..!
This product works fine for me, with no problem with the door opening and closing. It is easy to see what you have taken right away. The sound recording is very good, picks up traffic noise, your own speach, or whatever... Really great for concerts....

Even in very low light conditions, you can record what you see, and even zoom in on the moon, or a postage stamp!

Will automatically focus in at only 3 or 4 inches away from an object!

It took me some time to figure out how to get it to show the date and time, however, it does work once it is set correctly and programed.

The 200x zoom is great, but of course the picture is not as clear and sharp the closer you zoom in on your subject....but you will soon see that 1x to about 75x is all you really need...

All in all, this is a great camcorder, and very easy to use! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Surprise
I thought I did all the research possible to find the right camcorder. After searching online I had firmly decided on the Panasonic PV-L750. I wanted a camcorder with the still picture feature. When I got to the electronics store, the clerk persuaded me towards this RCA model. It was lighter, smaller, has a higher zoom and had a clearer picture. Although I initially thought he was just trying to talk me into a higher priced item, I chose the RCA. I am very pleased with this camcorder...and it's my first! At the store where I bought it, the Panasonic was a little cheaper, but keep in mind that it does not come with the VHS converter. Purchasing it separately would have made it actually made the Panasonic more expensive. I'm having a great time with my camcorder and I love being able to download and email pictures on my computer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Machine

4-0 out of 5 stars a good value
This tripod is extremely lightweight and is ideal for basic use (I am using it with a canon dv camcorder). It works like most other tripods and has many of the basic features, including the ability to pan, tilt, etc. I have been happy with it so far. It screws into the bottom of the camcorder.. no easy on/off lever. ... Read more
