Good cartridge, can start to smear though
This black cartridge goes with my HP Deskjet 694C. I have gone through numerous cartridges and for the most part it prints crystal clear. Some of the only drawbacks comes when its time to print large photographs with alot of dark colors, as you might expect it uses an aweful lot of ink,especially when you have it on the highest quality settings, and sometimesit doesn't cover completely smooth, but really, most people use printersfor text only, and with this cartridge it works great. One bad thing aboutthis might be, when you are getting low on ink, it sometimes has a tendanceto smear. Usually this is caused by dust or paper fiber which it has pickedup, and it can be cleaned.

Best inkjet ink for the HP 692c ever!
HP has finally delivered a very elegant shade of black for it's inkjets. The ink is luxuriously dark and reminds you of petroleum but not as thick. I really love this ink. The only problem is that it is totally andcompletely overpriced even though Amazon.com is offering the BEST priceI've found online for it. Removing one star from review for ugly packaginginserts - HP come on! We need better looking inserts! Did not work with my printer
I thought I would save some money buying this cartridge, but it did not work with my printer. It might have worked the first day, but is no longer working. What a pain. I just trashed it and ordered the regular HP cartridge. What a waste of money.

Comparable in price and quality to HP brand
Received this product and test printing seems to indicate that it's comparable to the HP brand cartridge. I thought I was saving money since I mistakenly assumed that I would get 2 cartridges, when in fact, it is 1 cartridge. At this price, HP own brand becomes a better buy at $21+ on Amzon.com's website, and if I had known, I would have ordered the HP brand.

At the time of my order, this costs $22.84 but has gone up in price now to about $25+?!! Compared to HP's own brand of $21+, this "remanufactured" product becomes overpriced. I am keeping it as I intend to buy the refill kit which at $9+ can become a long term savings.

not as good as a new cartridge, but close
it's a very good product. like other refill kits i've tried, the ink smears more and dries more slowly than the original cartridge. however, the instructions are simple and the kit is more complete and easier to use than the office depot version. since staples stopped selling it, i'm stocking up.

and yes, rubber gloves won't hurt, and definitely refill outside or on newspaper.

Dataproducts Cartridge for HP51645A
This was the first time I had to replace my cartridge and it was so easy a child could have done it. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the product performs just as well as the original cartridge, to say nothing for the savings. I would highly recommend it to anyone. You call that black???
I don't know what black means to Dataproducts. But this ink is no where near black. It's between a deep shade of navy blue and a dark grey color. FAR from the real solid black you get from the original HP cartridges. What's worst, the ink bleeds alot on regular paper, even the ones with minimal fibers. Like the other user said, get a pair of gloves, and ALOT of paper towels, and even more patience. It proves to me again that refill is never as reliable and good of quality as the OEM inks. Think of this, the photo or glossy inkjet paper you buy for a sheet... They are chemically treated to react well with certain OEM ink. Its chemical does not react optimally with some aftermarket bulk ink that isn't precisely formulated. I guess this is not too bad of an idea, if you just print alot of junk that quality isn't your priority.
