5-0 out of 5 stars Read the manual - and all things will work
I can't decide like the pre-readed reviews mentioned! I own this camera since a year and all is possible - also that was Rick and the dynamius had critizised! The cam costs 400 Deutschmarks so the price is ok and the features of the cam is all what you need ! I make full-letter sized printouts and they looking well - and what the hell I need 4,1 Mio Pixels? Only that I have to wait half an hour to transfer some pics to my computer? Or will YOU make an ARCH-D-Print, where perhaps such a resolution is necessary!?

The only I sometimes miss is a zoom, but then I remember existing of my legs and go some steps for- or backward - and realy - the image fits like expected...

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor Image Qualtiy
At first glance, this seemed like a good camera at an affordable price. Branded Polaroid, it was expected that this camera be of exceptional quality. After taking a few pictures at each quality level at 1280x960 and 640x480, I viewed them on my computer and saw that the image quality was just horrendous; even at highest quality (lowest compression), the image was not very clear. The LCD doesn't even show a preview shot as you must rely on the optical viewfinder window.

I guess for the price, I would rate this camera as OK for casual use. Anyone looking for a camera that takes clear pictures should look elsewhere.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disapointed
I found the last one at the local Echarts, half price, but even at 60 dollars I have to take it back.I have to reboot everytime i want to transfer pics from the camera to the PC.I could possibly live with this but the pictures are grainy and really poor. I`ll stick with my trusty FUJI..

3-0 out of 5 stars XP Non-compatable...but THERE IS A WAY!
I bought the 1320 with high expectations and most were met, except for the non compatability of the software/Drivers. (The software it comes with and the download from Polaroids Webpage).

If you are currently in use of your computer (powered up)and plug in the camera
the Operating system XP will display a message box telling you
that the camera is not recognised thruogh the USB port.

To loop hole this problem, simply use Microsofts Paint shop Pro. I used version (Paint Shop Pro6)and I'm not intirely sure if any other PSP versions will cure this problem.

There are 2 similar ways to make the camera visible.

Firstly connect the camera with the USB connectors turn the camera on and set it to PC mode.
Then power up your computer (Cold Boot) or RESTART(REBOOT).

After doing the above, open PSP and click on the open folder option, click on look in; you should now see the camera as an external drive or removable disc e.g. " :E " etc
Click on the new drive to download and see your Pics.

Have fun, maybe you guys at polaroid can write a new driver
or send me a great new camera compatible with XP ha ha.
Regards, O'reilly

4-0 out of 5 stars SATISFACTORY BUT........
The PDC 1320 performs fine according to its price, resolution is good, colors are good, the camera in general works weel but the flash could be more powerful.
What I didn't find good was the Polaroid service, my camera is still covered by the warranty, I have had some problems with the camera (the cable is not working properly) I wrote two emails to Polaroid and they don't even bother themselves to give me an answer. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, especially at the price
I've had a Polaroid photo printer for several months and I quite like it. The user interface is a spartan one line text LCD and all you need to know about using the device is printed on a sticker on the film door. Pop in a cartridge of 500 series film (the cartridge includes the batteries that power the device) insert the CF card from your camera (a CF to Smart Media adapter is supplied, SD and memory stick need not apply) and print. You can either use the DPOF feature of the camera to select photos for printing (I recommend this if your camera supports DPOF) or use the up/down buttons on the printer to select the picture you want to print. Remember, there's no graphical display so you are selecting by picture number. The camera takes about 20 seconds to spit out your picture. How do the pictures look? Like you took them with a Polaroid camera. Colors are sharp and accurate and there's no visible digital artifacts (with my camera, a Kodak DX3600, your mileage may vary). The pictures are a bit small but that's due to the size of the 500 series film. There's no way to connect this printer to a computer so no drivers or anything to worry about. The printer comes with one film cartridge and a shoulder strap. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars check carefully
I have this camera and it is in the box. It is an ok camera but I had so much trouble finding a memory card that I gave up not to mention the flash burnt up 1 hour after I had it out of the box, also I could not figure out out how to work the inet button which is supposed to connect you to the internet. I contacted Polaroid because the user manual said nothing about it. Polaroid said that they had discontinued this camera and all of the models they had were reformatted to be used the same as the pdc 640 cameera and the inet button had been disabled and was of no use exceot as a review button for pictures. So check carefully with Polaroid before buying. I now own a PDC 64o ptotmax and it is great for point and shoot and has more features that this camera including a tv out so you can view pictures from your camers on you tv, the picture quality is better and the price is much cheaper. CHECK CAREFULL AND SEE IF THEY HAVE RECONTINUED THE MODEM IN THESE CAMERAS BEFORE BUYING IT SO YOU DON'T PAY FOR SOMETHING YOU DON GET. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow! a motorized winder!
The world of the One Time Use Camera is certainly changing. First we have the Kodak High Definition Camera's come out in 2003-04 with super-fine grain pictures. Then this year Fuji bring out a "Quicksnap Smart Flash" camera which has 2 Flash options and gives brighter backgrounds in nightime shots. Now Polaroid has brought this camera out which winds the film after each shot automatically! 4-0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect!!!
I recently purchased the PDC 640 Plus as a replacement for my Kodak EZ200.
I am very pleased with the camera in general, but there are a few things that keep it short of perfection.

PROS
8 MB Card holds a lot of pictures
Good picture quality (if set on highest resolution)
Auto Focus Lens
Crisp, Clear LCD Screen
Great battery life
Very easy to use (you hardly have to read the manual)

CONS
You cannot add a Smart Media card higher than 8 MB (8 MB cards are very hard to find.)
It takes about 10 seconds to warm up when you first turn it on
Flash could be better (though it works in most cases)
Pictures look distorted when displayed on TV screen
Serial cable transfer is SLOW (but you can always get an adapter)
Software is worth nothing (I use Adobe instead)

Overall, I think that this camera is a must for anyone looking to buy a starter camera that is within their budget.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Look, Semi-Great Pictures!!
This camera is very handy and takes good pictures. I give it for my son to use a lot (maybe I should just get him one). I can't really tell the difference, in quality, between between the different modes. I usually just use the three star mode. The quality of the pictures are farely well. They look awesome though if edit them. I edit them with Adobe Photoshop Deluxe. Anyways, the pictures are nice. The video cable is convient, though the only thing I can do on the TV is view the pictures and take picture. You can't delete or do much on the TV, so don't rely on it too much. The AC adpter is handy, because like most digital cameras, they consume batteries very fast. I strongly recommend buying some rechargable ones, though I carry my AC adpter everywhere. Overall, this camera is a great buy for its price. Great for beginners too. Do get this cmaera!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good beginner camera
I've been using this digital camera for several years. I purchased it remanufactured from a closeout store. Even though I've had to exchange it a couple of times, it's been a good camera. It is very easy to use and doesn't suck down batteries like some cameras do. I use it to e-mail family and friend's pictures and for eBay listings. It has served its purpose well.

2-0 out of 5 stars Eats battery like crazy
This is was my first camera. Slightly overpriced (I paid +- 167 uS$). It's heavier than you think. Uses 4 AA batteries that drain rapidly, it's fast enough to take photos, but I dont like quality of them. Seems granulated.. it's no crystal-clear picture to me.

2-0 out of 5 stars There are better cams for the money
I bought this camera about 5 years back. I'm really surprised they are still selling something this antiquated. With only 0.3 megapixles it is not a good camera if you intend to print out the images. I purchased it for web work and it does a decent job but even with the 72dpi resolution you get from your monitor shows to many flaws in the image. It comes out to grainy and the colors of people are often to orange/red. The software often locks up and tells you it can't complete the action and you have to hit the retry button on every image to get the pictures off the camera. It does that on Win98 and my W2K boxes. All in all I would suggest spending the money on another camera. Polaroid does make some good cameras but this one is really past it's time. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Polaroid's i-zone pocket cameras produce tiny, high-quality Polaroidpictures about the size of a frame of 35mm film (or your average postage stamp). The i-zones use either sticky or nonsticky instant film, so you can put yourpictures in a frame or stick them onto your notebook or CD player. While thecameras all have the same funky oblong plastic design, they are available in avariety of interesting color schemes. The silver edition is a solid silvery graycolor, while Phat Blue and Fireball Red are neon-like translucent monotones, andmost others are two-tone, like the Jade version, which has an aqua green frontand bluish back.

Each i-zone set comes complete with camera, instant pocket film (six shots), andtwo AA alkaline batteries--everything you need to start making pictures. Werecommend buying extra film right away, especially if the camera is a gift, because those first six shots tend to go pretty fast. Loading the camera is aseasy as dropping the film cartridge into the back of the camera and closing itback up. The trickiest part is remembering to pull the film tab out in one fluidmotion, without stopping--exactly like most other Polaroids. When you expose ashot and pull out the film, you get something that looks like a Band-Aid, withan image in the middle and extra paper on both ends. Just clip the extra paperoff with a pair of scissors and you have your final product. Be careful not tocut into the actual photo, as you don't want to give the caustic paste inside achance to seep out and get on your fingers.

There are three exposure settings on the i-zone--indoors (with flash),outdoor/sunny, and outdoor/cloudy. Overall, the camera is probably best forsubjects within 2 to 8 feet, although we took pictures of downtown buildingsthat turned out pretty well. The outdoor/sunny setting requires bright sundirectly on the subject for a good exposure. Even if it isn't cloudy, try usingthe outdoor/cloudy setting if the subject is in shadow or if it is early or latein the day when the sunlight isn't at full strength. The flash seems to workbest from about 4 to 5 feet away.

The best part is figuring out what to do with the mini photos once you'vecreated them. The options seem to be limitless, from decorating cell phones tousing them as key chains, putting them in mini frames, or making refrigeratormagnets. These cameras are affordable, simple to use, and a lot of fun.--Walt Opie ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Smile...
This small camera is ideal for young children to adults. It provides the user with instant pictures. Film for the camera can be purchased with a sticky or nonsticky backing and is easily intalled into the camera. The mediocre flash adds some functionality to the fun camera. The flashy colors and design add a blast of "ah-ha" to the cameras overall appearence. Althought the film is moderately expensive in relation to regular film, the addition of the "neat effect" balance the two. With a relatively low retail price, you will be investing in a camera and a great time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun camera!
I've had my i-zone camera since they first came out, and I constantly use it (when I can afford the film, that is!). I've bought a few more for friends as gifts, and everyone seems to enjoy them. The i-zone camera is a fun thing to take small pictures with, and the sticky film is awesome!

1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk.
Picture quality is consistently extremely poor. Very small image. Film is over priced. Camera breaks extremely easily. Images do not scan well even on a high quality scanner. I think the product is mostly just a gimick and a fad which I hope disappears quickly. I recieved one for free as a prize in a contest at a web site. Tried it out, and I think it's completely useless. I would not even purchase as a gift for someone. Reguardless as to how much they want it except to satisfy curiosity. It will most likely end up either collecting dust or being sold at garage sales for a penny. However, if it goes out of production quickly enough maybe they'll become collectables.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sort of Cheap Fun
I often buy this as a gift, especially for the 8-12 year old group. It's easy to use and the pictures aren't bad - they're about 1 X 1 1/2 inches and have the same fuzzy flattering quality of the regular size Polaroids. The film isn't cheap, though, and after the kids run through the measly 5 picture roll that's included, Mom and Dad or older kids with allowances get to shell out close to [price] for another 3-roll pack (12 pictures each). But it is fun and kids of all ages love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Polaroid I Zone Camera
I love my I Zone camera, but what I don't like about it is that the film isn't very good. What I mean is, it's sharp and everything, but the sticky stuff on the back isn't very durable. Also, it's about 50 cents a shot. I'm 12 years old, so that's a bit expensive for me. Another thing is, I can only find sticky film. The closest place to my house I could find non sticky film was 5 miles away (and I can't even drive yet) But that's not something to judge the camera by.) I would recomend the camera to anyone who's under 15. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Memory Keeper
Ilove this camera! I paid a lot less for it though. It was an X-mas present, so I could capture all of my daughters growing up. It is easy to use, and I love the software. I have done amazing things with the pictures I have taken. I am even using the "new" versions of the pictures to paint. That's something I couldn't have even imagined doing, without all of the editing capabilities. There are 2 drawbacks though, you need to pre-plan the picture, it's delayed between the time you hit the button, and actually taking the picture. Also, either use the AC adaptor,or use rechargeable batteries, it kills them quickly. [...], if you us the camera correctly for the situation, and have a good printer, the printing quality is better than most cameras. I recommend the HP Photo Smart P1000 printer. All in all, this camera is a better than more expensive cameras, at a cheaper price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great camera for the price
I've owned my Polaroid pdc1300 for a couple of months now and I am very happy with it. I actually bought a Kodak dc3200 ...just before I saw this one, but the pdc1300 was on sale ...with a ...rebate - I couldn't pass it up! So, I had time to test out the two cameras. They have similar features but the pdc1300 goes one better on a number of features: 1.) higher res photos 2.) USB and parallel download 3.) macro mode (photos are quite clear) 4.)Flash works great even close up - doesn't white out the subject 5.) Slightly larger LCD 6.) AC adapter included. Positives: Very easy to use, great pictures, great price. Battery life is actually pretty good if LCD is kept to minimal use. Some negatives: long delay when taking picture, no lens cap, indoor photos are a touch dark (but easily fixed with a bit of photo editing) while outdoor photos are slightly bluish, poor photo editing software.

4-0 out of 5 stars Had some challenges but worked them out
Well, I too have faced some of the challenges that you have all mentioned and once I worked them out, I have been very pleased with this camera.

I received it as a gift and found immediately that it wouldn't load on XP - quick trip to Polaroid.com and I found easy instructions on how to install it on XP - now it works - I agree about the Win2000 issues though - what's up with that?

Then I had the issues with the camera freezing up, weird pictures, stopped working, etc - then a guy at Circuit City suggested I buy a new memory card - I did and was able to take 100 pictures in a row without error. Haven't had problems with that since.

I have also encountered the battery issues - however, I found that if I keep the LCD off (which I prefer anyway) and, this is the key, use RECHARGEABLE batteries specifically for electronic devices - I've had much better luck with the battery - again, took over 100 pictures with flash.

Is this a lot of work - sure, but it was a gift and was better than nothing so I tried to figure it out. Now that I have, I really like it and have some pretty good pictures as a result.

5-0 out of 5 stars Olaroid OneStep is the best!
I'm an amature photographer. I love taking pictures, exept waiting to see how they come out. With Polaroid OneStep Express Instant Camera I can take great pictures without having to wait to see what my pictures look like.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cheap Thrills
I bought mine at WalMart 2 years ago because I wanted something inexpensive and easy to fool around with. I was not expecting good quality pictures...and I was not disappointed.

But a funny thing happened when I was learning Photoshop.Needing images to work on, I scanned in my crappy snapshots at a fairly high resolution and was amazed at what appeared on my screen. Then I played with color, contrast, levels, etc. You can probably get the same results with any of the cheaper photo editting programs that are out there.

This only seems to be true for daylight pics.Everything I've taken after dark sucks because of the damn automatic flash.
Recently I tried a pack of the black and white film and the results were really cool. The camera itself cost about 30 bucks, but without a scanner and software the pics are pretty worthless. However it is incredibly easy to use and you can usually find good deals on the film which is available everywhere (for now anyway)The B/W film is a little harder to find, but worth it.

And I'll even admit to sneaking up on my sleeping cat for a candid close up...the motor whirrs as the camera spits out the picture and the puzzled look on his face is priceless.

3-0 out of 5 stars Spiffier cosmetics for Polaroid's classic choice
Lately Polaroid has been busy trying to light a fire under their flagging sales by introducing a raft of 'life-style accessory' cameras: the i-zone, JoyCam, PopShots and most recently, the Spectra FF. But its their oldest model, the One Step, that offers the most bang for the buck. The i-zone, PopShots and JoyCam models foolishly have dispensed with Polaroid's traditional lighten/darken control. Since Polaroid instant film has a rather narrow range of tone and contrast, an exposure that's sligthly too light or dark can be much more disappointing than if it were shot with a conventional camera. And at nearly a buck a pop, disappointing snapshots get pretty expensive. The One Step still has a slide control for adjusting exposure, which gives you some chance of salvaging a shot that otherwise wouldn't impress. The One Step models also give you a swing-in close-up lens for getting more pleasing portrait shots.

The newer One Step Express and Silver Edition models offer the same features, plus an adjustable hand strap in a spiffed-up package; its your call as to whether the strap and added swoop is worth the extra ten bucks. Polaroid's other new-comer, the Spectra 1200FF offers essentially the same features with a wider-angle lens, fold-up body and rectangular format film.... For practical features in a reliable, bargain-priced package, the One Step Close-up model is the pick of the lot.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good for an instant camera
This camera is relatively easy to use and the pictures are very good quality. I think it's important to remember that these cameras are for fun spontaneous moments like at parties and trips to amusement parks. It's an "INSTANT" camera and it does it's job very well.

4-0 out of 5 stars decent pict
I forgot to add that I had a heck of a time understanding the flash business on the manual. My pictures came out pretty good. Pretty surprised for a Polaroid. The case is kind of cool-turns into a fanny pack which is perfect for a busy parent who needs both hands. ... Read more
