1-0 out of 5 stars Stylish but bad pictures
I think that this is a terrible camera. Even though it is very stylish, it takes bad pictures. Even if you have bright lighting the pictures look dark. I would not suggest buying this camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hip and Stylish Camera
Even at the age of 12, I think this camera would be great for kids, because its easy to reload film into and it's not hard to work with. I think it's a pretty cool camera, because there is color to it instead of the plain old normal gray and black. You don't have to worry about you're kids breaking a hundred dollar camera the first time they you use it. I would give this product a five star rating. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The Olympus I Zoom 75's sleek, lightweight form, zoom lens, and splashproof construction make it an ideal camera for travelers who want the advantages of the Advanced Photo System in a quality package. The compact 75 is protected in a splashproof metallic-looking cover, and sports a slimmer version of the Olympus signature sliding-clamshell case, allowing this model to fit easily in to a pocket. The only disadvantage to this camera's compactness is that the self-timer and flash buttons are a little hard to press since they're so small. The Olympus I Zoom 75's multi-autofocus system helps produce the best photos possible--we found the camera did a good job of focusing even when our subject wasn't dead center. The flash gave us a choice of auto, red-eye reduction, fill-flash, night scene, and off modes. The night-scene mode allows you to sync the flash with a slow shutter speed so that you can take portraits with a night scene in the background. The zoom lens--a bonus on such a compact camera--has a 28 to 75mm equivalent range, good for everything from wide-angle landscapes, to portraits and medium close-ups.

The Olympus I Zoom 75 is extremely easy to use, especially since it uses the Advanced Photo System (APS) format. APS film is a snap to load; no messing with film leaders, or alignment of cartridges, as the film just drops in and loads automatically. The APS format lets you take regular, wide-screen, and panoramic photos on the same roll, and your processed prints will include an index print, with thumbnails of every shot, for easy reprinting.

Pros:

  • Ultra compact form
  • Zoom lens
  • APS format
  • Wide range of flash modes

Cons:

  • Certain buttons are too small

5-0 out of 5 stars Love these
I bought two pair of these and I love them. They are very clear. I wear glasses and have a difficult time seeing through binoculars but with these it is wonderful. Very lightweight too.

5-0 out of 5 stars very light, quality made, great for viewing
i have to say that these binoculars are really spectacular to use because they are compact and light, and well made. i use these to view the sky, the clouds, and the planes that pass in the air(private jets, jumbo planes, or fighter jets. the focus is great. i highly recommend this product to anyone who likes to view animals , or see beautiful sites when in certain countries when visiting as a tourist (Poland, Mexico, etc.) or any other clean activity. nice!

5-0 out of 5 stars Really cool!
At a reasonable price, this Olympus binoculor is really cool. It's small enough to bring with you for travl. A bag (for protection) comes with the package, which could be attach to your belt easily. And the optical effect is decent for its price.

I love it. Highly recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars I can only see through them with one eye at a time, too tiny
I had just bought an Olympus C-2040 digital camera (see my review) which I totally love, and I guess I got swept up in the Olympus thing, so I bought a set of these binoculars. After reading the reviews, I was convinced that these were the best way to go. When I received them, I was shocked, and felt a little stupid for not listening to the reviewer who mentioned that they were not for the wide eyed: I could only see through one lense at a time. If I lined my one eye up, the other one was completely out of the other eyepiece. By opening both eyes, I was looking at the painted body of the lense. My head is large, but I thought that it would be in the ballpark, and for the price, it was worth a little inconvenience, but this pair of binoculars is so small that it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to see through them with both eyes, even if I cut my view on both lenses in half. I can't do it that way either. As corny as this may sound, I just went up to the mirror, with a 12" ruler, and measured my eyes, and they are exactly 2 1/2" apart. That's center of eyeball to center of eyeball. These binoculars measure 1 1/4" closed, and only 1 1/2" fully open. That once again is center of eyepiece lense, to center of eyepiece lense. I can just see everybody reading this review, going to their mirrors, and taking a measurement. :-) Hey I am serious, those are the exact measurements. It's a shame, because these things are cool looking, and look crystal clear, as long as I see through them using one eye. Hope this helps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Compact Binos
We were looking for a compact pair of binos for a gift and read several positive reviews here, so we ordered two pair (one for us, since we enjoy birdwatching). I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised by the exceptionally bright, vivid image and crisp detail provided by the optics. Very lightweight and compact, taking up little space if you have to pack them. The carry strap only attachs on one side, but that's a minor flaw. In all, this is a terrific pair of binos, one I highly recommend! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Olympus Trip Camera
Well I actually won a camera exactly similar to the XB40... this one was the AF4000. I have just begun to use it and I really like it. Getting adjusted to a 35mm from a 110 was a little rocky, but all is well and atleast I dont have to worry about advancing the film. Overall this camera is nice, handy, small (but affective), and actually looks expensive, but isnt. I hope all enjoy the camera because I sure do.

3-0 out of 5 stars good camera but only worked for a year
I got this camera last year for camp. It worked fine. The pictures were good but not the best. The pictures i took with it; didn't look like what it looked like when i took the shot. The pictures also had red eye. I continued to use it until recently when i brought it to camp again. This time the camera skipped pictures on the roll of film, and sometimes didn't work at all even with new batteries in it. Now my camera doesn't work, and i only had it for a year. But what can you ask for when you buy a ... camera.

2-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, but very disappointing fuzzy pictures.
Lousy autofocus - I replaced the camera once and the new one is no better. I am sick of fuzzy, hazy pictures!

I consistently get MUCH better sharpness and quality with the Fuji SnapShot disposable cameras, as well as the Vivitar focus-free cheapie. Same shot, same time, same place they both put this camera to shame!

Even with ASA400 or ASA800 film, the pictures typically turn out too dark and with poor contrast as well. If pictures are worth taking, they really should turn out better than this!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good camera, not as automatic as I'd thought
This is a good camera: takes good pictures and has huge 'viewing lenses' (or whatever those are called) that worked great for my grandmother's bad eyesight. The film is not automatically rolled neither in - when you insert the film you have to take a few pictures and make sure that the small numbers are changing, which can be pretty hard without eye glasses - nor out when there are no pictures left. At least the rolling forward between pictures is automatic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow - Great Deal!
This was a gift purchase for my husband. He needed something simple for his racing adventures, but I wanted quality for the sake of good pictures. This camera delivers both. The view finder is easy to see through, which is great for someone with poor vision like my husband.

The camera is small, easy to use, and easy to load with 35 mm film. Automatic advance and flash make it perfect for the novice, and takes the hassle out of candid shots.

We do not have any complaints about this camera. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Just got it
I just got this camera last night -- so far it seems very simple to operate. The features are many but the buttons are easy to understand. There's no lag when you snap the picture it takes right away. The timer has a 12 second delay and the other cameras I looked at only had 10. I haven't had the roll developed yet --but if the picture quality is as wonderful as this camera is to operate I've found a winner!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great camera for the price
The Olympus D-150 is an excellent entry level digital camera. It has most of the major features that is needed to do general purpose photography, whether it's computer based (web/email) or print based (great pics upto 5x7), with the ease of use of "point and shoot, auto everything" technology found on most "traditional" 35mm cameras. All features are easily accessible from the menu system and there are quick access buttons for flash and marco zoom modes. The D-150 is is one of the few digital cameras in it's price class that has optical zoom (3X) which is far better than digial zoom (the D-150 also has 2X digital zoom for upto 6X zoom). The included 8MB Smartmedia chip is small and you need to get at least a 16MB chip to do any serious shooting(the memory chips are not that expensive). The 1.5in LCD display is handy for precise framing of your subject. Also, buy the Lithium batteries!!! Do not buy the Duracel or Energizer or other alkalines unless you are desparate. It's worth the $10 (19.99 for two packs) to buy the Lithium battery pack. They last considerably longer than alkalines, especially when using the LCD display. Unless you have Photoshop or MS Office's Photo Viewer or equivilant, the software on the CD is useless except for PC driver support since the pics are jpeg format. If you're using a Mac (especially G4 w/OS 9.x and higher), you don't even need the CD for the drivers thanks to it's USB connectivity. Make sure your USB ports are working properly and try not to connect the camera through a hub or keyboard on both platforms. All in all it is a nice, "fun", little camera and takes great images for 1.3 megapixals. The D-150 is highly portable (unlike the high end Sony Mavicas...) and is feature packed for $300. Truly a "Best Buy".

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice little camera
I am no photography expert and this is my first digital camera. I agonized over this purchase for several hours reading all the reviews I could find. This seemed like a good all-round camera for the price. I rather get the impression that in camera terms you get what you pay for.

I think that this camera represents very good value for money. If you want to put pictures on the web or email them then this camera certainly does an excellent job. The software that comes with the camera is not great, but then you just plug it in and you can access the images using Windows Explorer (the camera is recognized as a removable hard disk).

I would say that indoor pictures in low light taken with flash are not too bad, however I understand that the flash is weak on many digital cameras, and this one is no exception. I bought a 32Mb memory card, which can store 35 really high quality or 99 medium quality pictures, which I think is more than enough. That card cost ...and medium quality is 1280 x 960 in 24bit, which is more than enough for my purposes.

I have not tried to print the pictures out in any way, but I am a web designer and so really I only want pictures in computer form for web or email use. All in all I am quite impressed. There are a few minor shortcomings but generally if you want high quality digital pictures for a reasonable cost this would be a great buy. If you want awesome printable pictures that beat a quality 35mm camera, you're going to have to spend a little more I think.

5-0 out of 5 stars for the money, there is no match
For a first camera, I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's small, durable, and takes great photos. The interface is easy to use and the photos it produces are printable quality.

Sure, if you want to spend a few hundred dollars more, you will get a better camera. But, if you want something simple, with an optical zoom, this is the camera. Photos print out fantastically (with the proper paper and printer, of course), and they are great to use for online purposes as well. Add on a pack of rechargable AA batteries for it (or any camera), and a larger memory card, and you're set to go forever.

4-0 out of 5 stars Camera Size is Perfect!
We love the fact that this camera is so tiny. I can just toss it in my purse & it even often fits in my pocket. It's a great camera. Our only complaints are that it has problems with unusual lighting (pictures aren't as good inside, but can be doctored up in a photo editing program) & the menu system is tedious. I don't know if all digital cameras have the lighting problems. It's also slow to take a picture, but I've heard that is true of all digital cameras (I think?). Highly recommend for the price though!!

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent Quality for a small price!
