1-0 out of 5 stars buyer beware
if you own an nolt3 the lens doubler will not fit your unit as night owl optics says it will,,thought my unit had the wrong size lens on it and after talking with night owl they said it was their mistake and they should not show the lens double compatable with the nolt3,,,so just be ware it will not fit this unit.

3-0 out of 5 stars Does magnify a little, reduces brightness a little.
I'm not so sure about "doubling". Yes, it does increase magnification a little, and dims the display a little. It's not very spectacular, it depends on your needs at the moment. If you really need to zoom in a little more, and it isn't so dark that you can afford the slightly dimmer output, that may be what you need. Also, it is heavy, and adds both weight and size to the front of the Night Owl unit. With the lens doubler attached, the Night Owl will not fit in its storage pouch. It screws on with fine threads, be careful! Attaching/removing the doubler is not fast, not something you will want to do constantly. There is not storage pouch included with the doubler.

5-0 out of 5 stars By far the best night vision buy under 500 bucks...
I've checked out various night vision brands out there, and for my money none of them come close to these Night Owl binoculars. Not only do they look good. They work great. Fact is, as soon as you grab the rubberized barrels, you notice how good they feel in your hands. And then you take'em out at night. And lo and behold, it's like you've just discovered a whole new world out there - the nocturnal world. So, what do I particularly like about these? I like the fact that they have these really wide lenses. You get a really nice, wide field of view in these. I've checked out other brands, but unless you're willing to shell out a couple of grand-at least, you won't get nearly the quality as these. Oh, did I mention the mirrored lenses? I haven't actually noticed this feature on other night scopes, but what these do supposedly is that they help improve the light transmission. And I know come August when it gets real humid, I'll appreciate the weather-resistant feature too. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars night vision rocks
The night owl night odyssey is one of the best out there in my opinion it works like magic and it is easy to use. It's waterproof so you don't have to worry about getting it wet. When you turn the infared illuminator on, it's like there is a huge flash light that is scaning the object. It really works great.

4-0 out of 5 stars Low price, exceptional value
I am amazed at the features this toy has compared to the price. At $150 this is the cheapest I have seen this particular model selling for. I have been looking at purchasing a night vision monocular for about a year now and finally decided on the night owl brand. I wanted something that I wouldnt have to worry about if it got wet. I also wanted to stay with in $200. I have owned the Odyssey for about 5 days now. Each night I spend an hour or two looking through it. It has performed well in near complete dark situations with out the IR illuminator turned on. When the IR illuminator is switched on I can see perfectly in the dark. I recently helped my neighbor find her cat when it wouldn't come home after dark. I was easily able to see her cat hiding in a tree. When I switched on the IR, I was able to pick out the details on the cats collar. I give this item 4 stars because of two improvements that I feel are needed. The lens cap screws on which is great. However, there is no way to secure the lens cap to the unit via a cord or string. If I am not careful I can see myself losing the lens cap. I would also like to see the Odyssey coated in shock absorbing rubber. I am scared to drop it as the manual says it isn't shock proof. Oh, one more thing...the batteries are a little expensive. I was able to pick up two of the 3V lithium batteries for about $10. I haven't been through the first battery yet, but Night Owl says one will last for about 20 hours. Overall, great features and a very low price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Exellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first time i used this night scope i was a little disapointed as i didn't read the instructions, i just put the battery in and pressed a button, but later on when i pressed the IR button...WOW, i am amazed by the results, my garden is about 160 feet long and even in total darkness i can put the IR on and clearly make out any objects/animals that are in the garden. Here in the uk they charge about $450 dollars for this item, I managed to get this model in the Seben Make for about $175 dollars (inc. Delivery from Germany). It is exactly the same model, my mate has the Night Owl Version, and we have compared, they even have similar Serial numbers.
P.s. No matter what Night Owl say these are Designed and made in Russia, not the USA.

5-0 out of 5 stars This really WORKS!
I could not believe such an inexpensive device would work as WELL as this.
We own a country place we go to in the summer & watching what goes on nocturnally with wildlife is unreal. Where there appeared to be nothing during the day, at night we can see the true potential of our small forest surroundings. It is a blast! Deer, racoons, foxs, owls, coyotes, even BOBCATS come out all over the place!
We also like to watch the stars away from city light pollution & it's amazing what can be seen through night vision.
Another thing it is used for at home in the city is security.
With no sun, that equals no shadows, so it's like you can see right through bushes & thick undergrowth. No "snooper" is going to go undetected hiding behind bushes. (WE can even see THROUGH cars windows at night, if someone tries to hide behind a car)
The IR illuminator works VERY well, if you ever encounter a situation with NO ambient light, like in a totally dark room.
My husband even found a mouse that had been driving us crazy using this thing.
I also like the waterproof feature, but am SO scared to test it's "floatablity" feature.
If you have never experienced night vision, give this a try.
For the price of less than [money], it's a VERY useful item to own.

1-0 out of 5 stars could not see 40 feet
My husband and I are avid hunters. I bought this for him for our 10 year anniversary. We took it deer hunting with us on several occasions. It would not let us see in the dark past 30 or 40 feet and the product says it will let you see at least 150 feet.
The product was not (to us) worth the money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality and Value for Money, a true BARGAIN!
I bought this monocular scope originally for use to catch night-time wildlife. However it has come in to use for many other things. They are great if you think you have an intruder in your apartment or your garden because, they wouldn't have a clue your there. Anyway the quality of the image is exceptional, I was hesitant at first to buy a night time vision monocular because I thought it would be a waste of money, but I was certainly proved wrong. If you are thinking of buying one, go to a shop and try one out for yourself, but buy it here because they are about $50-100 more in the shops... Well worth the money, thanks "night owl" daniel_walton@lineone.net ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Check these out, they'll last you a long time...
Okay, so this thing is not the lightest unit out there. And I tell you I was skeptical these things would work. I mean, are they like the ones in the movies or kinda like them or what? And then I stumbled upon these at my local camera store. "Getta load of this piece", I thought. Well, It is sturdy built, and a bit heavy, but since it is made out of all-cast iron, you can tell it is a quality device. Rugged too. I usually take the Bright Nite out in the desert on weekends and check out all the activity on the border, just like the real Fed-boys. What I like about them is the wide camera-style lens plus the eyecups, they really help blocking out light that might interfere. They also come with a tripod-mount, which is great since I can then get a steady view of what I am observing. Bottom line, this is a great device, weather-resistant so I know a little rain won't hurt, rugged like you couldn't believe it, so you know it'll take a little wear n' tear. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Night Owl's advanced technology allows you to see during the day and night with their All-View Binocular. These unique day/night binoculars feature an isolator system that safely disengages the two intensifier tubes from the field of view with just the flick of a switch. This switch lets you use the All-View as regular binoculars instead of night-vision binoculars.

The high-quality, extra-wide optics have a multilayered protective coating that increases the light transmission, while the built-in IR lets you see in complete darkness. The protective coating also minimizes distortion and sun glare when the binoculars are in daylight mode. Night Owl used a rubberized armor on the All-View, giving you a comfortable grip and worry-free use--even in rugged conditions. The retractable eyecups provide comfort for those who wear glasses while also filtering any distracting light. These binoculars can be used within a temperature range of -22 to 113 degrees F (-30 C to 45 degrees C). ... Read more
