5-0 out of 5 stars Neutral Density
Neutral Density filters have several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance. They have four main uses:

1 To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars.

2 To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background.

3 To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations.

4 To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure. Neutral Density factors:

Cokin 152 (exposure adjustment = approx. 1 stop, reduces ISO 1/2) Cokin 153 (exposure adjustment = approx. 2 stops, reduces ISO 1/4) Cokin 154 ("P" series only; exposure adjustment = approx. 3 stops, reduces ISO 1/8) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cokin P026 Warm 81A Filter
Add warmth to light and a pleasant tan to your photo. In general, they suppress blue casts on overcast days and on subjects lit by blue sky. These filters correspond to the Wratten Series 81 (81 A, B, C) and complement the Cokin blue filters (023, 024, and 025) which create cooler or bluer tones.

Helpful hints : Do not combine these with other color filters as this will destroy the subtle effects. But you can combine them with optical effects filters, including Pastels, Dreams, Star, Speed, etc. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cokin P113 Split Field +3
With this split-field close-up lens, you can get a sharp and magnified foreground while maintaining the background in focus. Enhance the mood by contrasting a blurred, lighter subject against a darker area. Also, by combining two Split Field filters, you can deliberately blur one or two areas of an image, in order to emphasize just one part of it.

Helpful hints : Stop down the lens and observe the effect in the viewfinder. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cokin Creative Filter A83 Diffuser 1
Diffuser filters have very little effect on the sharpness of the image. They merely diffuse highlights, thus reducing contrast. As such, Diffusers can be used to soften a landscape without suppressing detail. They can also soften the skin texture and hide minor flaws. You can take a sharp portrait without emphasizing every pore.

Helpful hints : The effect of the Diffuser filter 083 is minimal and works well for landscape photography, especially when used with Cokin Graduated, Speed, Super Speed or Multi-Image filters. Diffuser No. 084 is more suited for portraits and still life's. For even greater diffusion effects, use the two filters together. Diffusion filters often collect light from outside the image area that can mislead the camera meter and cause it to underexpose. Long focal-length lenses require less diffusion than short ones to achieve the same visual effect ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cokin Warm Filter adds cozy skin tones
This filter is great for portraits. It is a warm, tannish-orangish color that enhances Caucasian skin tones. Flashes can sometimes wash out skin tones, as can too much sunlight, and this replaces or maintains a warm glow. Also nice when used in conjunction with a blurring filter (diffuser) which hides tiny imperfections and softens the whole look.

This can also be used with landscapes to create a different mood, to warm up an Autumn or desert scene for instance. I have used Cokin filters for years and find they are a great way to add a personal touch, a surreal look or a more professional finish to your photographs. ... Read more
