3-0 out of 5 stars Quality comprimised by size
I've had this camera for two years and although it is compact and light - easy to carry around anywhere withought being a nuisance, I've had several problems with it. The picture quality isn't very good - my pictures oftentimes come out hazy (indoor and outdoor). Also, no matter which view I put the camera in - it also prints out in panoramic view. Quite annoying since I've never had a need for panoramic pictures. I probably would not buy this camera if had the choice now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Investment!
I have owned a Vectis 2000 for about three years now and have absolutely no complaints! I have gotten numerous compliments on the camera's sleek shape and compact size. It is a very elegant looking piece of equipment that fits easily in my purse and is perfect even to just carry around in my hand. I have never had any problems with picture clarity, or messing up a roll at all. The camera is incredibly durable, I have taken it overseas, on many vacations and am still perfectly happy with it. If you are looking for a compact, easy to use, VERY good looking camera, then the Vectis is for you. Also check out the Vectis 3000 which has a larger zoom.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost Point-N-Shoot
I bought this while on vacation without a camera, possibly not the best time to break-in a new one. When first 3 rolls were developed I was able to see a progression of clearer pictures and now I'm completely comfortable watching the flashing green light in the view-finder for the optimum photograph. The compact size fits in a jeans pocket while knocking around historical sites. The 3 photo sizes allow for a vast array of shots and the zoom is fairly quick to adjust before the subject gets tired of smiling for the picture. Automatic dating and even a memo can be programed to print on the back of prints.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for touring
I have no complaints. Most importantly, the red-eye reduction works great. I had to return an Elph because all my subjects looked like red-eyed monsters. The Minolta Vectis 2000 is great to fit in your pocket, especially when you're traveling and sightseeing. It fits right into your palm. You don't have to look like a "tourist." It pops out to a bigger size when you're ready to take pictures, and the zoom works great. Many more features are also available. Drop in loading APS film is fool-proof. There's only one way to load. Friends are always asking about it and complementing me. It's the only camera I take when traveling, and great for everyday types of photos. The developed shots also turn out great.

3-0 out of 5 stars well protected body
This is good product, I am using this since two months. I like most its protection. It really help me while I am traveling. Result from this camera are also good. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I got this camera as a birthday present six months back. I was looking forward to getting into digital photography.

Here are the results so far.
1. It takes a long time for the camera to settle on an image and allow you to take a photo. That's no good in a fast moving situation like a kids birthday party.
2. It takes too long for the flash to recharge, danger being that you miss photo opportunities.
3. As others have said, it eats batteries. You have to buy the lithium pack to get any kind of longevity. And then, you shouldn't use the view screen if you can avoid it.
4. Photo quality is very poor, even on the highest resolution. Any disposable plastic 35mm will give you just as good or better on film.
5. On high resolution there are very few photos, so you need to buy a card to get additional storage.
6. The movie option requires really good lighting, so I have only really got it to work in daylight out of doors.

On the positive side it is cheap and pretty easy to learn to use. It is very easy to transfer images to the computer, but I suspect that is due to the quality of my Dell, not the camera. The digital 2X3 zoom option only works on high resolution shots, but it does work pretty well!

The movie clips only play in Quicktime, so don't bother trying to load them onto other media players.

1-0 out of 5 stars 3 MONTHS LATER LOOKING TO BUY A REPLACEMENT
...this camera eats batteries like nothing else I've ever experienced. Cant think of anything in its favor.. its bulky and ugly.. and I feel embarrassed asking someone to take a picture for me, because it's difficult to use and very tempermental! Just arrived back from Chicago where I took 25 pictures.. and had to buy 4 new batteries along the way.. already searching online for a good replacement

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Junk
I bought this camera for my 6 year old son's B-Day. Before giving it to him I tried it out to make sure that it worked fine. Here's the result:

Pro:
- Simple to use.
- Inexpensive.

Con:
- Very mediocre quality pictures.
- After taking about 3 pictures, you have wait about 10 seconds between taking pictures (none of the buttons will work until it recharges itself).
- Eats batteries like crazy. After using it for about 20 minutes taking 10 pictures it was nearly out of battery power.

Returned it immediately and got a Sony.

2-0 out of 5 stars This is a battery eater
Bought the kd-220z at Frys for $120 with a $20 rebate and tried it for about 15 photos until the two new alkaline batteries went
dead. When I opened the package there was an insert from the factory which recommended use of a lithium CRV3 battery which came with the camera, even though the camera is touted as working with 2 alkaline batteries. The camera worked ok and the pictures were of good quality, though it took a second or two or three to actually take a picture after pressing the button. The menues and operation were effective but crude and slow - have to keep turning the display button on and off when switching from display to shoot. I returned it because it took so few photos with the alkaline batteries. I get the feeling the factory knew of this shortcoming and now includes the more expensive (to replace) lithium package. But then the cost is only $100. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great but proprietary
I've been using this flash unit with Minolta Dimage 7i and I'm absolutly satisfied.

- This flash is really powerful. The guide number is 185 (feet), it means under the most conditions your can easily shoot for 60 feet in the complete darkness. And it is probably even more important, that it is powerful enough for any kinds of bounce lights.
- Complete integration with the camera. In most cases you don't need to touch any controls on the flash. It automatically adjusts zoom and power level when you change settings on the camera.
- Wireless control. You can disconect the flash and install it somewhere or simply hold it in your hand and without any cables it can communicate with the camera. So you can use your integrated camera flash and this external unit to do some nice fill-ins.
- TTL metering. The flash makes a pre shot to let TTL system figure out what is the best exposure and power level and adjust the camera and the flash before the main shot. Very usefull when you do any bounces or use multiple flashes.
- Very fast! Because it's so powerful even if you set the flash at 1/8 of it's max power, it's still enough light for most scenes. But in this case the flash is ready for the next shot almost immediatly and you don't have to wait till it gets recharged. So far it could keep up with my camera in all situations.

So the flash is really great. The only problem is this is s Minolta proprietary stantard and you have to make sure your camera can utilize all these features.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing but proprietary
I own Minolta DiMAGE 7i and I've found this is the most usefull accessory I have. It's amazing how this flash can improve your camera functionality. Really high (>180) guide number, virtually no limit on sync shutter speed (1/12000 sec!), fully supported TTL metering. Plus because it uses wireless channel to communicate with your camera, it very easy to point fill-in light. Just hold the flash in your hand or ask someone for help and no need to worry about cables or settings - TTL and wireless make your job really easy. Actually I can't name anything I don't like.

There is just one issue. It's proprietary, so it's really nice on compatible Minolta cameras and it's really ugly on everything else.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have a matching camera..
If your camera is compatable with this unit, it is the best and most easily used. You will get the most benefit. It has a bunch of bells and whistles but most of them can be set up automatically. Off Camera remote with some cameras like my Minolta Dimage 7i. I have the older 280 and 4000AF units to use with my 7000 series and they are still working after 15-20 years. Hope to have the same results with the 5600HS. You camera was an investment, invest in the best flash for it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Worked as advertised
I bought this battery as a backup for my Minolta Dimage X. It works as well as the original. These batteries charge quickly... but also don't last very long (at least not in my camera). I find that I can take about 200 pictures with the LCD viewer on before battery life degradates to an annoying level.

3-0 out of 5 stars More Juice!
They need to wake up the engineers and amp this up. I can go thru a fully charged battery taking 40 pix at 'fine'resoution. I try to keep the flash turned OFF (it produces a blue result anyway.) and when traveling, resist movies. It is very hard to resist movies when charming children and festive occasions are going on. If traveling for 10 days overseas and with no power adapter (I don't trust them.) take 4 to 5 batteries.3 was not enough for Thailand.

I will say that no one I was traveling with every guessed I was taking movies! Guess that goes in the camera review.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wrong Battery
You offer this battery as an optional purchase for the Panasonic e-wear digital video camera but it is not compatible with that camera. I will be returning it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Battery! (5 Stars-except for price)
Slim and Trim. This battery charges quickly (usually about 45 minutes)Long lasting-of course this depends on the camera settings-but overall I have been very satisified. I do have two additional batteries. So I have plenty of power-always!
I use the optional AC adapter for extended use on the computer-this means I only use the batteries for shooting great pictures with my DiMAGE X and playback. Probably the best Propriety Battery on the market. Pricey-but worth it! Beware of "substitutes". You can't beat Minolta Quality!
