Direct Printing
The Photosmart R707 offers PictBridge functionality, which enables you to transfer pictures from your digital camera to a compatible printer without a PC or image-editing software. Images can be stored in the built-in 32 MB memory, or on optional Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMedia (MMC) memory cards. Wonderful little camera
This is my third digital camera. I have owned a Fuji FinePix and a Pentax Optio S4. This camera performs so much better than either one of those. The good points: Great video, crystal clear images, super easy to use, removes red eye after pic is taken, adaptive lighting really works, good battery life. The bad points: a little slower than some cameras when it comes to processing images(but it is worth it), no case or SD card (seems to be a trend with most digitals).

I researched this camera and the Canon Powershot S410 and S500. When comparing the two, the HP had 2 or 3 better features than the Canon. I was hesitant about buying the HP, because it was so new that there was not a lot of customer feedback. I guess the selling point that just made my decision easier was the red eye in camera removal, since I take lots of close ups of my children.

I am so happy with my purchase. I would recommend this camera to anyone. The auto features make picture taking a no-brainer, but if you do want to get creative, you can adjust almost anything, in the manual mode.

HP Delivers with the R707
HP finally delivers a Camera that puts themselves above the crowd. I've been a fan of HP for a long time and the HP R707 is a big jump in quality from their previous cameras. The first thing I noticed was the speed. Everything from taking pictures to navigating the menus was lightning fast. HP has also packed the camera with great software. Built into the camera are features for removing red eye, making panoramic scenes, adjusting bad lighting in pictures...ect. The camera also does not use double A batteries, which I always burned through on my previous cameras. I was able to use the camera continuously for about two hours constantly using the flash and lcd screen with the lithium-ion batteries.

I had no problems with the software and the camera was synced in under 10 minutes. I really like the Arcsoft panoramic maker.

I give the Camera four out of five stars because I thought HP should of included a Secure Digital memory card with the camera. It does not come with a removable memory card and I thought that was cheap on their behalf.

Overall, I highly recommend this camera if you are looking for a point and shoot device.

Best Quality in its Price Range.
You won't find a better camera for this price. I bought this camera in August while on vacation. I had read raving reviews about the camera prior to getting it, and they were right. What I love most is that the camera fits in my back Jean's pocket. Now that it's winter I have it in my coat pocket every day. The battery lasts forever and has no "memory problems". The camera comes with its own recharger and the battery takes between 6-8 hours to charge, can be done when you go to bed. <br />The camera has many features you only find on more expensive cameras at half the price. The 5 megapixel shots are astounding in crispness and color fidelity. It does not come with an SD card, but it has built in memory which allows you to take various shots depending on the quality setting. All the cameras that come with a card include one with so little memory that they are not even worth using and require the purchase of an additional card, so I don't see the lack of one as a drawback on the R707. I have taken pictures and had them developed at the kiosks in some of the stores for 29 cents a piece and I only have to develop the one's I like. I never have to buy or develop film, I can email the images to family instantly with the camera's features and can even print them on any color printer with the press of a button. If you want stunning photos and the lowest price with the easiest user interface, then this is the one to get; you can't go wrong.

Love it!
I just bought the r707 a few weeks ago, and I LOVE it. I spent a lot of time researching and I would have never thought of getting an HP, but I finally decided to get this camera after testing it in the store. It replaced a 2 megapixel canon elph, which produced average pictures. The interface for this camera is much more user-friendly than my old elph, and the pictures are gorgeous too--the colors are sharp and crisp. It's just so fun to use! You do need to take advantage of the many modes and setting options to get beautiful images in all conditions (low light etc) but it's not hard to do that and worth the effort. It also does really well with action shots.

Lens in the Viewfinder -----
I just bought this camera. Its a nice design overall...but suffers from one major flaw. The lens is visible in the bottom right-hand corner of the viewfinder.

I read many detailed reviews before purchasing and none of them mention this....WHY ? Don't others find this a distraction when composing pictures ? HP has designed all these nifty features not available on other cameras... They got the styling right all in a nice tight package but really dropped the ball on the most basic feature of all....optics.

I called HP to make sure that my unit wasn't defective. The rep powered up a camera and comfirmed that yes you do see 'a bit of the lens' but it doesn't print !....well duh...I know it doesn't print. So basically its good to know mine is not defective...they are ALL defective, IMO. Told the rep mine was going back to the store tomorrow. Excellent Carmera, poor offering
I purchased this Camera because of the good deal since it stated that the docking station is included with camera, still does.I got the camera, but not the docking station.I contacted Amazon about it and they were to resolve it by sending me another camera with the docking station.Too no avail, still no docking station.Now I had two cameras and no docking station.Finally got one camera sent back, but stillno docking station from Amazon.As far as the product, GREAT CAMERA forthe price!!!

I received this camera as a Christmas present last year and I love it!It's very user-friendly, compact, and you get high quality pictures with it.I especially like the zoom feature.The built-in directions for the multitude of settings are handy--no need to lug the owner's manual around.

A great compact digital camera with reasonable price...
I bought it as a sub digital camera. I have a fuji S7000.
-Low lighting condition: it is much better than any others
-Picture quality: Very good or equal to S7000 with 6M*** setting
-Easy of use: Yes, it is very easy and support 11 languages
-Size: small enough and solid construction
-Red eye: it works as it described. Although, it is "post-processing" and takes 1-3 seconds per picture.
-Battery life: good enough to take 150 pictures
-LCD: 1.8" with 120K pixels. Very clear than low resolution 2.0" or 2.5".

Not like:
Re-charging flash or saving picture take longer than S7000. I'm not sure it is because of compact camera. Depended on picture quality setting, it takes 2 - 5 seconds.

Beautiful color and B&W prints!
The photosmart 8750 produces exquisite photos with sharp clear details, amazing transitions especially in blue skies, and real neutral black and white. The 9-ink system produces the colors I want out of the box, but I can also use ICC profiles for extra control. On glossy paper, the dye-based ink creates beautiful depth in the image without gloss differential issues. When printing black and white, only ink from the gray cartridge is used, producing true black and white prints that rival any other method I have used. With the deep blacks, the black and whites are particularly stunning on the HP satin paper. Overall, this printer produces fantastic prints and I love seeing my work in 13x19 inches! ... Read more

This printer is groovy!
I purchased this printer a few months ago for my work, and I am still totally in love with it. It is really fast, printing 20 ppm black and 12 ppm color. The HP DeskJet 6122 is very quiet, and everything I print looks fabulous, including printing out photographs.
Perhaps my favorite thing about this printer is the automatic double-sided printing feature. I am in awe of this feature. No more manually re-feeding papers through the printer! Yay!

HP has always been my brand of choice; I've always found their products to be highly reliable, affordable, and easy to use. The 6122 is everything I expect from Hewlett Packard and more!

A Stellar Business Class Performer
Our current office environment is a hodgepodge of desktop and network printers all of which need toner or inkjet cartridges replacements on a continual basis. Even over a short period of time this can add up to a tidy chunk of change, not to mention the storage space needed to store the disparate collection of dissimilar boxes and packages. Add to that the need to call a variable rainbow of manufactures and one could see that something needed to change. We needed a standard for desktop inkjet printing, which would combine outstanding output, low cost, easy maintenance, duplex printing, and a small footprint. According to a Hewlett Packard media releases, the HP Desktop 6122 inkjet printer offers the ability to print: "laser-quality black text plus professional color photos at up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi color printing on premium photo papers and 1200 x 1200-input dpi. With quick print speeds - up to 20 pages per minute in black and up to 13 pages per minute (ppm) in color - your high-volume printing will be incredibly efficient!"

The latest crop of HP desktop printers is now indistinguishable from their LaserJet counterparts in print quality when the proper weight paper is utilized; for inkjets that weight should start at 22lbs. Adding color to this functionality makes the HP Desktop 6122 a bargain at $180.00.

Features & Specifications:

One of the biggest selling points of the HP Desktop 6122 is the standard duplex module (the ability to print on both sides of the paper) which ships with the printer, and must be installed during the initial printer setup and configuration. This option is then selectable via the printer software. The duplex printing option has worked perfectly for our user base thus far.

Another feature business-class clients will find useful is the standard 150 sheet paper tray that is standard on the HP Desktop 6122, instead of the 100 sheet tray found on most Inkjet printers at this price point. In addition, an optional 250 sheet paper tray can be added to the printer, which attaches to the bottom of the unit. Installation:

Installation of hardware and software components for the HP Desktop 6122 is easy and straight forward, with a typical installation taking less then ten minutes. HP has provided an easy to read (large print) step-by-step installation sheet for both Mac and PC users. The most difficult portion of the installation is the duplex unit which ships unattached; however the procedure for installing it is clearly outlined on the installation sheet.

The HP Desktop 6122 ships with two print cartridges, one black, one tri-color. Installation of these is easy and is again well spelled out on the installation sheet. Unlike some previous models which called for the installation of the software driver before connecting the printer to the USB port, the HP Desktop 6122 installation instructions call for the reverse; i.e. the printer should connected to the USB port first, powered on, at which time the software and drivers can be installed.

First Impressions:

I like the printer. It has a small footprint, and while not the most attractive inkjet on the market it is thus far very reliable, which is a quality I have come to expect from HP products. The black print is outstanding even on standard 20lbs laser paper, though I advise all of my clients to purchase 22-24lbs inkjet paper for the best results. Color output is nothing short of spectacular, and again with dedicated 22-24 pound inkjet paper, or even glossy photo paper, the results will speak for themselves. The colors on the page are sharp, bright, vibrant and true to life, with no streaking or running evident. And while the HP Desktop 6122 may be on the noisy side, the decibels levels are certainly acceptable and not at all distracting.

Conclusions:

Price, fast draft printing (which by the way saves a considerable amount of ink), duplex printing, and options such as a second 250 sheet paper tray, as well as the ability to add an external Jet Direct Ethernet NIC, combine to make the HP Desktop 6122 a very attractive alternative to even the most basic laser printer.

The true work horse with minor bugs & great performance
I had an HP Laser which drove me batty in terms of getting stuck paper unjammed. After looking at 5550 and 5650, along with Epson, Lexmark and Cannon, I bought the 6122. I rate
the printer 4 1/2**** and am in the process of buying a second.

The construction is sturdier than the 5650 and even 960.
The printer memory is amazing. I will print 40 pages. Nothing will come out at first and then they start flying. The quality,
especially for text letters at Best is like laser. Color
quality: I have a picture of my feline and it is superb.

Bugs that may be related to my CPU include having the printer go off line. This is easily fixed. I just delete the pages
in the que, reboot, reenter the pages being printed and off
we go. I have XP Home. The 6122 is quite at home with it.
Generic cartridges work fine. Have a box in front for when the printer gets going, pages fly out.

The 6122 eliminated slight negatism re: HP old laser jamming.
While not as easy to find in stores or on sale much, the
6122 is worth list price plus. I am mystified over some
of the criticisms. The 6122 is not the most space age
stylish model. It is a Clydesdale. Now I will get a new HP Amdahl or Intel CPU to go along with it. Buy the 6122
and use your worries elsewhere. This is almost as reliable as my Honda Accord.

Decent Printer - LOUSY HP support
This printer seems to be a decent, reliable, no-nonsense printer. I really like the double-sided print capability. Photo printing isn't bad, but not the best I've seen, and not as good as my HP 960c printer (which was replaced by this printer when it broke after only a few months). The Photo Print software, which is otherwise very useful, has a serious disk space detection bug in it. When I called HP, they "offshored" me to India and I was unable to obtain any useful help there. For this HP deserves the lowest possible rating.

Great Home or Office Printer
I have had three HP Deskjet printers for my office and have had great luck with all three. I did not do any comparison shopping for my work printer it was just assigned to me by my company. The HP Deskjet 6122 printer is an outstanding printer. I have had the opportunity to use it with all print modes and several paper types. It prints superb photo quality prints with photo papers. It prints business size envelopes very well. You can feed them in one at a time or place them in the lower tray for multiple envelope printing. It also works well for printing greeting cards. On draft mode it shoots out the pages with lightning speed and even in draft mode the quality of printing is pretty good. It uses high volume ink cartridges and the cartridges are reasonably priced for the amount of printing you get out of them. I like the printer so much that I bought an identical one for home use. The one I bought for home replaced three lousy color inkjet printers that came free in packages with computers a Lexmark, a Cannon and an Epson. This printer is much more expensive than the cheap or free bee printers but it evens out in the end when you look at all the wasted time and money fiddling with dinky low volume cartridges that your lucky if you can get three 8X10 photo prints out of. Not bad, but a tad overpriced
I bought this printer to go with my HP Pavilion ze5200 laptop the summer before heading off to college. I knew that in college, I'd be mobile and on the run, so I was looking for a good quality printer that was small enough to fit in a dorm, but wouldn't crap out on me as I was printing a ten page paper half an hour before it was due.

It's been about nine months since I bought the 450Cbi, and I've had a really good experience. It's small enough to fit compactly on my little dorm-room desk, and every time someone walks into my room they say, "Oh! What a cute printer!" It's small and lightweight enough to throw in my backpack along with my laptop as I go to the library or student center to study, and the fact that it can be battery-powered is just awesome--I can be sitting outside in the middle of the quad, with no outlets in sight, tapping away happily on my laptop with my printer chugging out my papers beside me. The quality is fantastic, both photo and simple black-and-white, and one black ink cartridge lasted me eight months, which is amazing considering all the papers a college student has to type.

For the negative stuff: As other people have said, it has a problem with paper jamming. I've had several times where the paper has jammed, and I've had to work like the devil to un-jam it. However, nothing has broken, and all in all, it's held up beautifully considering how much I put it through, always lugging it from one side of the campus to the other. My infrared printing did suddenly stop working on me for some reason--my laptop will detect the beam and begin to print, but an error will pop up and refuse to print anything that's not a Notepad file. As well, I was also disappointed that though the printer is advertised as being wireless, it doesn't actually come with a Bluetooth card. No matter though, a parallel port cable is short, compact, and has worked perfectly fine for me. I do think that it is a little overpriced--I paid $250 for it--but for me, it's been a great a little printer and I don't regret my choise to buy it.

Paper Jambs
I heavily use the HP 450CBi daily. Usually print 75 to 100 pages of Docs per day. Battery life is good. Print quality is good. Print speed is acceptable for a portable. Durability is questionable. I keep it clean and in its own protective case. I am on my THIRD HP450CBi printer in 9 months! Paper jambs, multiple sheets feeding, print carriage movement obstructed. I have tried many different types of paper based on quality, brand, thickness of paper, inkjet, multipurpose, etc. all with similar results. When number 3 gives out I think I go for a cheap disposable desk type model and plug into a 12V/110V power inverter in my vehicle. No Bluetooth as advertised. Forget IR. Just plug in a USB cable. 450 CBi misrepresented by manufacturer.
I purchased a 450 CBi so I could use the Bluetooth technolagy with my HP ipac 2215. The printer is clearly advertised as having Bluetooth connectivity. Upon receiving the printer the information included indicates that a HP Bluetooth printer card is required priced at $97.00. After spending 3 hours on line and on phone I find the item can't be bought. HP's last instructions were to search on google for it. I did only to find only one reseller listing the item. They were out of stock.

Not what is advertized
I spend a lot of time on the road and I use a lot of different types of printers. The HP is over priced for what you get. Keeping in mind you can buy a pretty nice printer for $300 today. It is much slower that advertized at 9 PPM black. It is more like 1 minute per page. That is with 30% text on a page. This is NOT good. The duplex printing requires one to manually flip the pages over. What is up with that? Print quality is good. Portability is OK, but not as nice as the Cannon i70. Ink cartridge size is good, but expensive. Infrared printing is glitchy. Quality and syle is OK. Unfortunately when a company tags a printer as a portable then the price goes up by a multiple of 200%. This is a mediocre printer that is worth about $50.00.

A Great Desktop -- and Portable -- Printer!
The HP 450 cbi is an extremely versatile printer which I use as much in my office as I do on the road! It prints both text and digital photos every bit as sharp as my larger HP Photosmart 7550. It's extremely compact for traveling. And with its dual wireless capabilities (infrared and Bluetooth), I can output to it from my laptops - as well as from my PDA's.

The portable 450 uses HP's new six color ink system which, when printing digital photos, trades out the black cartridge for another three-color unit. The flip-up paper tray feeds well and holds up to forty-five pages. There's a special slot for 4" x 6" paper which makes printing snapshots as easy as making 8" x 10" enlargements. But the kicker for me was HP's claim of a 73 year photo life using HP's Premium Plus photo paper - which was verified in independent testing by PC World magazine in their November, 2002 issue! (Gee, what's not to like?)

The HP 450 has a built-in infrared port on the front (and is the only model in HP's new lineup so equipped). But contrary to what's written, connecting via Bluetooth requires purchasing an optional Bluetooth Compact Flash Card directly from the Anycom.com website, which is then installed via a handy slot in the back.

I use a USB cable to print from my desktop, and very reliable 3Com Bluetooth PC cards to output from my laptops.

I print via infrared from my Sony Clie using Docs To Go and IrPrint (available from iscomplete.org). And I output from my Palm 515 by using a Toshiba Bluetooth SD card - and Docs To Go and BtPrint (also available from iscomplete.org).

Even my daughter, not to be left out, prints directly to the HP 450 (via infrared) using her Palm OS-based Alphasmart Dana word processor, and she loves it!

I've carried the HP 450 with me on several business trips where it's performed flawlessly. I've taken the printer (with its portable battery) to meetings - where it was also a big hit. I've even used the HP 450 - in my garage -- to print labels and identify all of my stuff! The capabilities of this printer are truly amazing!

The HP 450, incidentally, is a much better portable printer than the HP 350 cbi or the Canon BJC-55 I owned previously. The HP 350 was much bulkier and could only accept a single ink jet cartridge (either a 3-color or a black & white unit) at one time. The Canon BJC-55 had extremely small ink tanks; and printing from my Palm (due to very weak print drivers) was rudimentary at best.
