Bright and nice
In my opinion, the Hakuba KLV-M70 is one of the better cold cathode fluorescent flat panel lights available. While its specified luminance of 1,400 candela per square meter is shared by similar flat panel lights from other makers, in use the M70 appears whiter and brighter than many others. Transparencies are very enjoyable to look at, due to the 5000 K. color temperature of the light.

I use the M70 as a light source for a special View-Master stereo viewer, and it performs very well in this capacity. Details of how it was attached are on my 3-dviews website, under Technical.

When used at home, it makes sense to use a power supply rather than the AAA batteries (which last a bit more than 2 hours per set of 4). Hakuba sells a dedicated power supply (in Japan, at least), but a Sony AC-E60A AC power adapter works perfectly, and functions at any household voltage. Any 6 volt DC power source of 500 mA or more with the right plug (center positive polarity) should power the M70 satisfactorily. ... Read more

Don'tBlow it!
I have been in photography for the past 15yrs and broken more blowers than I care to mention. I purchased this blower 3 months ago and have had no cracking of any sort. A field-and-travel tripod that travels well in the field
I bought this product recently in order to tape a few of my childrens' soccer games. I found that it's light weight was usefull, but the supposedly easy length adjustment was not as advertised. I found that the product was difficult to use in this way and caused way too much shaking for my vid cam. I also had problems with the rubber leg mounts that seemed to "scuff" the tiles at home. I'm under 18, and still, I found out that the diameter of the large magnifying glass is 3 1/2 inches. I went to the Hakuba USA website and found out. It's common sense!
