1-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It
Snapshot cameras operate on such a simple principle that I didn't think it was possible to take such out-of-focus images. Well now it is, thanks to the Nexia 20.

I've owned and used many different 35mm cameras in the past, and I was able to produce some kind of workable image with every one of them, even the wind-up snapshot camera I have. This one I gave a try to get a feel for what APS can do.

I took pictures from 3 feet away, 10 feet away, and at great distance. I took them in daylight, and I took them with a flash. I took them in a box, and I took them with a fox, but nothing I could do would make a single picture I took with this camera appear in focus.

The view lens doesn't line up either, so if you think you're taking a picture of your friends, you're actually taking a picture of your friends from the neck down.

The problem with making a discount APS camera is you can't take away features to make it more affordable (it requires automatic film advance/rewind and print format selection) so all you can do is make everything cheaper. Which they most certainly did.

My advice is to go with a 35mm camera in this price range, or to buy a more expensive camera if you must have APS.

In short, this should be sold as a paper-weight or maybe as a Rubik's cube-type toy (try opening the loaded film compartment without a chisel), but this thing is no camera.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fuji Q1 Zoom lacks Negative size selection
This is a 'beautiful' design and takes reasonably good pics. (It IS a point & shoot) but unlike all other APS cameras, it only takes pics in the "C" mode (the traditional size prints) NOT in the "H" mode (slightly wider) or the Panoramic. Why Fuji left this choice off Boggles the mind. The main reason I use APS is for the "H" size prints. I'm dissapointed this feature was left off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stop whining....
This format works just fine. I can't understand the issue people are having with this card. Yes it is new and it is more expensive. Remember what the other format cards cost when they were new?? The price is already dropping on xD cards now.

My Fuji Camera takes amazing pics and I dont care if it has a different format card in it. I dont plan to use it in another camera. This card uses less power and writes faster than older formats. To me this is a very important feature. It works and it works well.

Technology is improving. What, should we just stop and all be happy with one format that is developed? Did these people complain to Sony when the CD was developed? What about to Mercedes because they developed the air-bag and antilock brakes in cars?? Things change....get over it.

5-0 out of 5 stars tell the truth--
the Fuji and Olympus xD cards DO NOT cost 2-21/2x the other types available and in use today--I understand change is difficult for some folks but telling untruths about a new product is unacceptable---the xD card is faster and uses less battery juice which helps the photographer by making battery charge or change less frequent(saves money and time)--therefore, any small difference in initial purchase costs will be repaid many times over duting the life of the card--watch where you buy electronics and get the best prices before you spend your dollars (buy Amazon.com)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product, Speed and Memory
I Highly recommend the XD digital cameras and XD memory cards. I purchased a Fujifilm S5000 digital camera which came with a standard Fujifilm 16mb card. I upgraded to this Fujifilm 128mb XD card and have had no regrets or problems. A good deal for a price of around $50 to $65 dollars. You can double the memory, 256mb, for around $110 dollars. I found the Olympus 128mb XD card is cheaper in price than the Fuji, but when I researched them both, the Olympus card when you touch the connectors the memory, in some incidents, have been erased. This was a risk I was not going to chance for $2 to $6 dollars less in price. In the 6M quality mode ( 2816 x 2120 pixels ) I can get approx 90 photos and 165 photos in the 3M quality mode ( 2048 x 1536 pixels ).

The XD high speed can greatly enhance the user's experience with the product. A photographer can take & store new pictures or view existing images on the LCD screen more quickly with the XD Picture Card than with other, slower media formats. This means less battery drainage!

The Con's,
Small: could easily be misplaced or lost.
Price: the XD card is a little bit more expensive than other memory cards, but you get what you pay for!

1-0 out of 5 stars Do We Really Need Yet Another Flash Memory Format?
Sure, the read/write speed is fast. Sure, it's supposed to be energy efficient. But -- puhLEEEEEZ! Compact flash was fine at first, but doesn't make the grade in today's minuscule digital cameras. The SD (Secure Digital) format, however, does. Here's the kicker -- you can get an SD card with up to 1 gig of storage. The xD format hasn't even started shipping a 256 megabyte card yet. Yes, the Fuji and Olympus cameras (the only two that take the xD format) are terrific gadgets. But there are SD-compatible cameras that are just as good and, frankly, somewhat cheaper. 1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time on Fuji products
I've ordered not one, not two, but three different cradles from Amazon for my Fuji A210 and I still don't have one that works and includes all the correct parts. The first one didn't work--it charged the batteries for only 15 to 30 minutes which meant that I could only take a few photos before the batteries went dead. I returned it and Amazon sent me a second one but the video cord was missing from the box. Amazon then sent me a third one and it was missing the same cord that was missing from the second box. Since this is the only style cradle I've been able to find that is compatible with this camera, I plan to return the camera, the spare batteries, and the photo card to Amazon for a complete refund and then start all over again with my camera selection. Don't waste your time on Fuji products like I did.

3-0 out of 5 stars Response to fellow from Maine
I just bought the A210 and am terribly disappointed in the short term life of the batteries Fuji enclosed in the package. I appreicate your comments on the charger, as I just about ready to order that, thinking it would be best and would avoid the costs of the batteries. I am also finding that my picture frames don't follow suit...they skip backwards 2-4 digits when you take a pic, so you don't have a clue as to where you are. I was a firm believer in Fuji and Fuji films...I am saddened to read y our issues, and a few of my own that I have. The camera overall, seems to take great pics, but what do we do about the short life of batteries, and trying to find a decent charger and power supply cord? I guess we need to go to the Fuji site directly.
Some one in Mass.

3-0 out of 5 stars I have some serious qualms
After just purchasing the FujiFilm Finepix A210 camera, I decided that the cradle would be a great complement to it.

I had researched which batteries were the most dexterous for power-intensive digital devices. After some browsing on the web, I decided that the MAHA Powerex 2300 mAH NiMH's were the best choice.

The cradle arrived from Amazon today and I was shocked, after reading the manual - to find that Fuji says that other consumer-brand NiMH batteries either a) will not work with the cradle, or b) are not recommended to be used with the cradle.

There was no in-depth explanation given, other than that the manual recommended only the Fujifilm NH-10 NiMH's be used with the charger and camera. What gives? Is Fujifilm forcing you to buy only their brand of batteries in order to make use of the cradle, when there are other batteries which have proven to have more longevity?

My second problem is with the cradle's design. The camera itself comes packaged with a cheap, and somewhat flimsy plastic adapter/housing for the camera to sit in. Don't be deceived by the picture above - the holder seen on top of the cradle does not come with the cradle. It is only sold with the a210 camera or other appropriate model.

Rather than just make the adapter/holder a part of the cradle, it's a separate accessory - and makes the unit seem chinsy and not "solid". I would rather slide the camera into something that feels like a glove around the camera while it recharges. You are not afforded this with the cradle, because the plastic holder does not fit around the camera with a snug fit. Instead, when I find myself trying to put the camera into the cradle, I have to wiggle it around a bit in order for the bottom of the camera to mate up properly with the male plug which connects from the adapter to the camera body.

Overall, it's just a very poor implementation in concept and design.

Thirdly, the USB cable which comes with the cradle is only about 2 1/2 to 3 feet long!

Remember - the a210 supposedly features a webcam mode. Unless your computer tower is in the direct vicinity of the cradle, you're probably going to have to move your computer in order to get the camera/webcam where you want it to be. a 3-foot usb cord is simply not long enough for most webcam to pc configurations. 6 feet, even 10 feet would be much more ideal.

I had wanted to put the camera/cradle on the other side of my monitor near the light source on my desk. Unfortunately, I can't do that - the usb cable simply can't reach. 6 feet would have been perfect. Alas, I'm out of luck. Now I have to move my tower just to put the camera and cradle where it should've naturally been able to be placed. You might say - "Sure, well just go buy another USB cable."

It's not that easy. The cradle requires a specialized usb cable, because the connector on one end of this cable is a proprietary design, something I've never seen used with other digital devices.

Those are the three biggest problems I've found with this cradle. I really do hope that it is possible to use other NiMH batteries with the cradle, if not - Fujifilm has just forced you to continue buying only their batteries for your Finepix camera, and their offerings are certainly inferior to the MAHA Powerex's in terms of longevity. Many sites around the internet offer comparison graphs revealing which batteries are the best performers, and the Powerex's are #1.

So I have to say, shame on you Fuji, for misleading your customers. Your cradle's charger should be compatible with any brand of rechargeable NiMH batteries which are ideal for use with the Finepix a210 - not only compatible with your brand of rechargeable batteries.

Proprietary usb cable connector on the short included usb cable, proprietary rechargeable batteries - shame, shame.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great with my new Fuji camera
I purchased to make taking digital picture simple for my family and it does just that. The batteries that come with the dock last over a couple of hundred shots on our Fuji a210 camera, depending on flash usage. The simple connection to the PC makes it easy for my family to e mail picture to friends or to Ofoto for great processing. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Unneeded accessory sold to me by Amozon
The Finepix 700 camera comes with a recharger with a wall plug. It also serves as an adapter to run the camera off wall current, making this product comepletely unneeded. But since Amazon does not give a detailed description of what comes with the camera, it was hard to tell that.

3-0 out of 5 stars AC adapter
I am hoping this is just what we need, but nowhere in the literature do I see if this adapter will work as a recharger for our Fujifilm 3800 digital camera. It only states "in some models". Delivery was VERY quick.

5-0 out of 5 stars The XD Picture Card is fast and efficient
Although a little expensive for its size, it is very fast when deleting, viewing, and taking photos. The 64MB card is a good size, taking about 101 photos on a 2 megapixel camera with the highest quality, which is plenty for a home use digital camera. I have experienced other cards, such as SmartMedia and CompactFlash and they are bulky and are considerably slower. Although it could be my previous cameras, I believe the cards have a greater impact. Also, about the price, the price for the cards are going down. Don't listen to bad reviewers...they are just bitter that their cameras are out of date and do not feature the XD picture cards.

5-0 out of 5 stars So far, so good.
I bought two 64MB XD picture cards, thinking I'd have one for backup if anything went wrong with one of them. I have yet to use the second one, and could probably have just gotten away with using the 16MB card that came with the camera as backup. Then again, if I did more travelling, it's like having two would be a smart move. I have no complaints about these XD cards.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great new format
I think these are great, I get a lot more battery life and they allow the camera to be much smaller...they may not be industry standard, but they were created by Olympus and Fuji, so even if they just become the standard in those two companies they'll stay around for quite some time.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not standard
Although the card itself is not bad technology, it is NOT the standard (which is compact flash, CF). If you ever upgrade to a better camera or another device that uses memory cards (MP3 players, or SLR camera, etc) then you'll lose your investment in these XD cards. Also, since they are proprietary and non standard they cost more per megabyte. I would never purchase a camera that uses non standard proprietary cards (like Sony, which uses their own "memory sticks" or Fuji and the XD cards). But if you already bought a camera which requires them, then you really have no choice. Standards are important with new technology (remember betamax vs. VHS) so that early adopters don't have equipment that becomes obsolete, or unduly pricey due to lack of competition.

If you have a choice, try to buy devices that use CF (compact flash) and protect your investment. Just my two cents.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fuji and Olympus Leading the Pack
I received a Fuji 3800 Digital Camera, 64K Xd Memory Card and Fuji Card Reader for Christmas. The camera is excellent for someone who wants a digital camera with excellent optical zoom for the price. The smaller compact memory cards are the wave of the future. The Fuji Card Reader is extremely easy to use a very fast to transfer pictures from and Xd or Smart Media memory card. Just leave in plugged in and the software automatically recognizes when you've inserted a memory card. Best of all it doesn't drain your camera's batteries. ... Read more
