Amazon.com Product Description

Early Adopters Pick: July 2003. The S1 from Epson is a price-busting portable projector that delivers brilliant, full-featured SVGA performance, under $1,000.

With a footprint of just 14.6 by 10.4 inches, the S1 sets up on nearly any convenient surface and weighs just 7 pounds, making transportation painless. An SVGA native resolution of 800 x 600 ensures that projected images retain their clarity even at great distances, while 24-bit color support of over 16.7 million colors results in accurate, true-to-life images. A monitor out capability lets you display images on both the projected screen and on a monitor simultaneously, while compatibility with both PC and Mac operating systems ensures that your presentations a snap to set up, no matter where you are. The 400:1 contrast ratio provides sharp detail, and 1,200 ANSI lumens of brightness results in projections that are easy to see from anywhere in the room. The 132 W UHE lamp provides over 2,000 hours of lamp life, while the internal power supply consumes 180 watts during normal operation and just 5 watts in stand-by mode.

The S1 has a variable aspect ratio of either 4:3 or 16:9 and an adjustable projection screen size of 30 to 300 inches. The digital zoom/manual focus lens has an F-number of 1.4 and an f-number range of 16.6mm, which combine with digital keystone correction of plus or minus 15 degrees to help achieve accurate, in-focus projections across the entirety of the image. The S1 supports NTSC, NTSC4.43, PAL, M-PAL, N-PAL, PAL60, SECAM, and HDTV formats, the latter including 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Mini DIN, RCA, and mini D-sub signal inputs and an RS232C control input are provided. The internal fan emits less than 33 dB of noise during normal operation, while the internal 1-watt mono speaker provides a clear, intelligible internal audio output. The remote operates at a distance of up to 19.7 feet and provides control over a wide range of projector functions. The S1 also comes backed with a two-year limited warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome projector for the price.
I saw a review about this projector about a year ago on a tv show called screen savers, which airs on tecTv.They gave it a good review so i gave it a try,AN LOVED IT.I only bought it to watch dvd's on an it works perfect for that.I have a huge wall in one room of our house an simply painted the wall white an use it as the screen.A 20 foot screen no less. It's the ultimate home theater, just add your surround sound an boom.No reason to ever leave your house for the movies again.Yes the lights do need to be low,or in my case i like it dark. But its got a great picture an more then worth the price. We've had nothing but fun with it ever since i bought. Its the perfect projector for those on a buget or for anyone that just dos'nt like to waste a lot of money on something like watching movies..............

4-0 out of 5 stars Good projector!
I purchased this projector two weeks ago and I am very pleased with it. When I connect it to my computer the image is very bright and I do not need to darken the room much at all to view it. The room needs to be a bit darker when viewing TV or DVD/VHS movies. My son uses it to play GameCube games--which is really fantastic because of the size of the image! However, for some of the games (Lord of the Rings) we really need to darken the room to see the screen well.

I have used LCD projectors for the past five years in educational settings. This is the first one I have purchased and I am extremely pleased with it. The only negative comment I can make about it is that the zoom feature doesn't change the size of the image by much. I wanted to set the projector on a stand near one wall and project it to the wall on the other side. When I do this the image is bigger than the wall space and I can't change its size by much using the zoom feature. Instead I have to move the projector into the middle of the room and operate it from there. Even with this inconvenience, I still think it is an excellent projector and so far I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see beautiful color images larger than life!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love mine.
How many people do you know who have 100inch tv's and paid less than $1000. I'm guessing not too many. I guess a picky person could find some faults: not as bright as a tv in a well lit room, no manual lens zoom, makes more noise than a tv. Still I really do love mine. It takes up about 1/100th of the space of a large tv, I can pack it in a backpack if I want to take it to a friend's, I can move apartments without hiring 5 movers to cary it down the stairs, I can play 4 person video games (Mario Kart Double Dash!) and everyone gets their own 50 inch tv, the colors are brilliant, and the price is decent enough.

Go buy one and you won't be unhappy.

5-0 out of 5 stars S1 Hit of the Party
This is a great product.

We had more than 250 digital photos submitted by our Harley Owners Group members to be used in a continuous-loop slide show during a recent party.

We mounted the S1 in a loft and projected the slide show onto a wall 25 feet away making a huge display of the photos. The S1 was on for more than seven hours, performed flawlessly, projected sharp images, was easy to hook up to a laptop computer (the source of the images). The simple operation of the S1 made set up and adjustments quick.

We later used the S1 in our living room to watch a DVD on a 70-inch movie screen. The projector was hooked into the video-out RCA jack on the DVD player. Total set up time: Less than 3 minutes. Again, flawless operation and extremely good picture.

I'd recommend the S1 to anyone looking for an entry level projector with seemingly solid construction, easy-to-understand controls and great features.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a good projector
This projector has very large pixels and the picture is dark comparing with other projectors. I carefully compared this projector with several other brands in a store and got this conclusion. My experience is that you really need to compare several projectors before buying one. If you only believe the reviews, you may get very disappointed after you buy one and plug it in. After you plug it in, the only thought you may have may be how to get rid of it.

However, this projector does have a short throw rate which I like. This means you can use it not far from the screen to get a relatively large picture size. The projector only uses 100 to 120v power so it is not usable in some countries which use 220v electricity unless you use a transformer. So if you often travel to other countries, you need to be aware of this. Many other projectors do have the feature of using 220v. The physical size of this projector is large. When I went to a store to compare projectors, this projector was the largest of all. I also don't like the shape. It does not look neat to me. I like a projector with more flat surfaces. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value
I bought this printer a little over a month ago, and I am completely satisfied. I used the card reader for photo prints for the first time last week and I really liked the process. Prints came out very nice. Comparable to an HP photosmart printer, but I feel like the epson prints were much nicer because you don't have to wait for ink to dry. Colors are just as vivid as an HP photo printer. But I do suggest that you buy DuraBrite Photo paper. This optimizes the photos appearance.

The printer is very easy to set up, Nice speed and very quiet. This is a great value for anyone looking for a quality multi-function printer. Especially with the great rebate Amazon is offering at the moment. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is a little bulky. But that is expected from a multi-function printer. I would LOVE for these to shrink a tad bit!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Multifunction Printer!
After doing a lot of research and talking to friends I finally decided on the Epson CX6400, and so far it has been great! It produces great color prints and can print crisp, clear, dark black text at about 10ppm. The photos it print are with rich colors and are clear. PHOTOPAPAPER REALLY ENHANCES QUALITY! It can copy about as fast as a standard copy machine, and can print directly from compact flash, memory stick, and SM cards. Setup was very fast and easy to do, it has a illustrated setup guide included. It can also act as a card reader for your digital camera. It does not have a fax machine included with it. The only other drawback that I have seen so far was the time it takes to start printing, about 30 seconds. The features are:

Color Printing-approx. 5ppm
Monochrome Printing-approx. 10ppm
Color Scanning
Color Copying
Card Reader

I recommend this printer to anyone looking for an affordable multifunction color printer. Epson remains a great supplier of printers!

Update: I have just printed a 41 page document with color images and text. I was able to print it double sided very easily, and did not have to rearrange the pages at all. Double sided printing is very good, and the printer has remained solid the whole time I have owned it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice Hardware, Poor software (on MacOSX)
I am very satisfied with the print quality, borderless on photo paper is just stunning.
As a scanner the printer is really hampered, on Mac OSX, by the supplied drivers: The installer crashed a number of times, the "Smart controller" often unexpectedly quits.
Also, the screens in the "scan and save" function have many field that I just can't edit, for example the Format where you could choose between PDF, JPEG is stuck at JPEG, a real bummer. The resolution field is also unmodifiable.

The software is obviously a bad port from windows, as it does not obey the most basic keyboard shortcuts (cmd-W to close a window does not work, cannot tab between fields etc). The "Smart panel" is laughable, especialy its "advanced settings" that's totally useless.
If I had known this I would not have bought the printer.

And yes, I went to Epson site to get the latest drivers&software.

3-0 out of 5 stars Printer paper has to be loaded from the back
I have only used HP and wanted to change to a printer that has individual color - I don't know what HP was thinking when they made color in one cartidge! I don't like the fact the paper has to be loaded from the back - didn't even know they made a printer like this. I am returning mine and will probably go back to a HP again. I don't like the time it takes to start printing either. When I put several sheets of paper in the paper holder it took all of them so it messed up the printing but that could just have been the way I loaded it. I don't think envelopes can be printed with it but I could be wrong - not keeping it long enough to find out.

4-0 out of 5 stars So far, so good
Pros:
Does everything well
Excellent value for the price!
Easy to use
Cons:
It does shake quite a bit
Nothing else so far.

I would give it a 4+ ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Value for Home Use
Working on a compact budget, I was looking for something I could use to scan photos, negatives, and slides that would approach quality amateur level.

For photo scans, I was impressed by the speed, the quality was average or slightly better than average.

For slide scans, I found that if you have an image with a lot of black or very dark space, the scanner/software gets confused and it took several tries to get it right; sometimes, it wouldn't happen at all. Otherwise, slide scanning was fine. Nothing to write home about, but adequate.

I've had much better luck with film negative scans. Colors come out rich and detail is fine. The higher resolutions take forever, but the results are worth it.

I tried playing with the three different software settings: full-on automatic, pro, and home use. I haven't bothered with the automatic mode, it was too restrictive. The professional setting is more trouble than it's worth, for the most part. Great if you want to play around with colors and such for the fun of it, but trying to use it for color correction was more of a hassle. The 'home' setting works best for me 95% of the time.

There are better scanners out there, but for the price, this is a fine little machine.

2-0 out of 5 stars Unhappy with slide scanning
In interests of full disclosure, I was only interested in using the scanner to scan family slides, and I returned the scanner after one week.

On the positive side, installation was a breeze in Windows XP. Epson includes a high-speed USB 2.0 cable, which was a nice extra, as most companies skimp here. I was also intrigued by the "touch up old faded photos" software. I have had great experiences with Epson scanners before: in the past I have found Epson scanners to be among the fastest and most accurate, and they have, in the past, included the best OCR software free. I was disappointed that this scanner included ABBYY's OCR software, which is inferior to the OCR software Epson included with last year's scanners. (See CNET's reviews of OCR software.)

After hooking up, I scanned a photo using the included software and automatic settings. The scan went well. I was a little surprised that the automatic settings default to 300 dpi scanning (whether for photos or slides), but higher settings produce images so large in (initially uncompressed) megabytes as to slow down my relatively new Dell computer with 128 meg RAM. Scanning the photo went quickly.

Things did not go as well with the slide scanning. While the software is quite easy to manage, whether in automatic or manual settings, a few annoyances interfere with what could otherwise be quite a successful suite. First off, the scanning software uses overlapping windows for such (simultaneous) windows as the preview window, the scanned pictures window, and the manual settings window, but none of these have separate tabs or "buttons" in the Windows XP taskbar, so it is difficult to move each out of the way to find the other ones. I'm unsure how they even accomplished this, as I've never used a program in XP that didn't produce a button on the taskbar corresponding to an open window. At first this was an annoyance, but after three days, it was crazy infuriating, as it makes it difficult not only to deal with the scanner windows themselves which keep hiding each other, but it also makes very cumbersome to multitask with any other programs. When the scanner is scanning, its software window sometimes will not hide, and then when you do hide it, you can't bring it to the fore again without minimizing the other programs' windows, or it will bring to the fore the wrong window. How Epson can commission an expertly performing software application, but have it without corresponding window-tabs, is typical of today's rush-to-the-market user-unfriendly software. I suppose it doesn't matter when scanning the occasional piece, but it certainly ain't fun when you're scanning the family photo album.

But the final straw was that after hours of scanning various slides at different resolutions, I could not produce a scan that was not SLIGHTLY blurry. Since some of my slides were taken by professional photographers and look crystal clear on the wall, I scuttled my project and returned the scanner. Why spend a week converting the family slides for permanent sharing and archiving, and getting a blurry scan? I have read that this is a common problem with inexpensive scanners: I suspect that if you take the slide out of its white cardboard frame, so it can lay perfectly flat, they might be in focus, but I don't want to ruin my slides. Seems to me that if they can put an autofocus mechanism in extremely cheap cameras, they could have figured out a way to autofocus the slides in this slide-scanning scanner.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible software, no 800 support
The Copy Utility software does not work in WinXP. Apparently there is a conflict with the twain and twunk files that Windows uses. After 7+ hours...on my dime...with advanced tech support they gave up and said they can't do anything about the problem. The copy program is unusable and they said "too bad".
They don't have an 800 number so you must pay to get their problems fixed.
The Abby OCR program only works half the time. Many documents come out with gibberish on them. Poor program.

Epson quality has definitely gone downhill. Will never buy another Epson product again.

5-0 out of 5 stars I would buy it again!
I would buy this scanner again.... maybe it's not perfect but I'm happy with the scanner. Those who are crying about the 1670 should have spent $500 for a scanner instead of $125 if their standards are so high. It was easy to install (Win XP) and it does a good job scanning photos and documents. I'm surprised at how much I've used it. I haven't scanned any slides yet so I can't comment. It may not be a professional quailty scanner, but it's darn good for small business and home use.... a good buy for the money.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very disapointing userinterface
I bought this unit to scan old photos and slides. The software that drives the scanner is not intuitive to say the least. It has a fully automated mode to pick the best results for the user, but it "remembers" the settings from the previous manual operation. The "professional" mode does not let you control the size of file you create. Stay away unless you want a cheap product ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Photos I Have Ever Seen. . . But. . .
Okay, here is how it is: This is the best photo printer this side of your local photo lab, but it doesn't come without some disadvantages. This printer does not use the Epson DuraBrite ink, which the Epson C82 does. It does use a five ink system, but it is housed in a single cartridge. That is pretty lousy because the ink tank is rather small. You must understand though, if you have a decent digital camera, you will not know the difference between this and a professional development.

The digital film readers that are included in the unit are pretty cool as they are pretty expensive when they are not in the Epson box. The little read out screen for picture selecting is a bit difficult to get used to, as it is definitely no LCD screen. But, for the price, who would expect a monitor. If running without a computer is a must, then the selection screen is sufficient. If at all possible, use your computer and import that way, it is much easier. There is also a reel on the back for 4x6 paper rolls.

Overall, the printer is rather affordable for the output. The pictures are top shelf and text is almost laser quality. It is well worth the money and puts out better pictures than any machine I have ever encountered. This replaces the Epson C82 as my favorite photo printer on the market.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful prints, affordable price
Bought this printer a month ago for $... online after comparing with the Canon line and I say-if you're looking for beautiful images and flexible formats, buy it! Yes, it uses ink quickly-what printer wouldn't when printing 8x10 color top quality photos?? I printed about 30 4x6 color photos and 10-15 8x10 color photos and several black & white 8x10's before I began to run out of color ink (cartridge registered 30% left, blue ink was running out noticeably in printouts). But once I figured out what settings work best when combining my scanner/computer/printer, every photo was beautiful; you couldn't tell it came out of a computer.

I use this printer primarily for prints and negatives scanned in on my Epson Perfection 1325 scanner (another fabulous piece of hardware). It was necessary to scan in images at a minimum of 800 (recommend 1200 and higher) dpi to print quality images. I printed both snapshots and fine-art quality black and white photos and loved the results.

As far as papers go, I started out with hp 4x6 paper and it was abysmal!!!! Don't ever buy it. Am now printing my 4x6's on Kodak premium heavyweight glossy paper with exceptional results. Also love the Epson heavy matte paper, results in beautiful colors and rich, textured images. Even gives decent prints on normal letter paper, if you just want to print off some photos for fun.

Overall: pros-beautiful images, relatively quick printing speed, in limited trials with directly printing digital images from a flash card with on-printer keypad loved ease of use and quick results, used with Adobe Photoshop Elements software easily, no problems with text quality (comparable to my old Canon BJC-250 inkjet), relatively inexpensive ink (color cartridge under $... at Office Depot)

Cons-hmmmm.....didn't much like the software included with the printer (i.e. FilmFactory and PhotoImpression which is inanely stupid) for lack of flexibility when working with images. Remember that the USB cable is NOT included. Have to always print at highest quality for good results on photos (why do they bother to include a lower photo setting??)

2-0 out of 5 stars epson smepsun
This is the second epson I have owed. One thing I can tell you about this brand is they are LOUD, put on some headphones when you are printing things out, oh and the desk better be secure because they rock back and forth, I though mine was going to walk off the table! The print, its ok but also expect the paper to jam a lot on thicker card stock. Oh and make sure you order some head cleaner from www.maxpatch.com. The heads constantly get dirty and they sell a fluid that will clean them. with HP or Lexmark every time you buy a new cartridge you get a new head, not so with epson. When I am making greating cards, mine likes to leave nice black track marks. I have cleaned the rollers and it still does it, guess its a gift from epson. If you want a good printer buy HP or Lexmark, yes you pay more for ink, but the photo quality prints are just as good and they are super quite. My printer is in my bedroom and when I print in the morning the noise is enough to wake up my girlfriend. stay away from epson

1-0 out of 5 stars Faulty print heads make this printer a money-pit!
This printer is a joke! Sure, it prints good pictures - but the print head gets clogged so often that most of the ink in your ink cartridges is drained before you can do much! If you let this printer sit for a week, you will need to run the head cleaning utility - which drains a visible amount of ink on the ink monitor . Subsequently, you run out oif ink in less than two months without doing much printing at all! It's ridiculous!

I bought ink cartridges three weeks ago, have printed nothing but a few resumes (no color) and now they are both halfway drained. Tell me, is this reasonable?

I think not.

1-0 out of 5 stars 825 Very Poor
Worked great for 30 days then it became impossible to get consistent color or print quality. It has gotten so bad that often I can not even get text quality. A complete waste of money. I am going to toss it and get something decent. I have spent more in ink trying to get it to work than the cost of the printer. A real lemon. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Great for printing both photos and text-based documents, Epson's Stylus C64 is affordable, fast, and engineered for quality. With Epson's water-resistant, light-resistant, and smudge-resistant DURABrite inks and 177 nozzles (monochrome plus color), the C64 can print black text at 17 pages per minute, color sheets at 9 ppm, and 8-by-10-inch color photos in under five minutes each. The printer's 5,760 optimized dpi ensures photo-quality clarity and detail for your bordered or borderless pictures, text, or graphics. Of course, higher-quality settings result in longer print times.

For photos, DURABrite photo paper gives amazing prints with vibrant color, fine detail in highlight and dark areas and smooth graduations. For everyday printing, you can enjoy the same exceptional quality on plain or recycled papers. Due to the special nature of Epson DURABrite inks, you can print on both sides of the paper without fear of leak-through or page wrinkle, and you can handle prints as soon as they're printed. Epson's Variable-sized Droplet Technology produces and controls ink-droplet size (with a 4-picoliter minimum) to maximize both quality and print speed.

The C64 supports several paper types, including plain paper, premium semi-gloss, and DURABrite photo paper, as well as large-format sizes up to 10 by 15 inches. Convenient individual ink cartridges make ink replacement simple and cost-effective, and USB connectivity facilitates quick setups on both Windows and Macintosh computers. Included Photo Quicker v3.4 software simplifies photo editing and print management, and the C64 is backed with a one-year warranty that includes the Epson exchange program.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap to buy, expensive to own
The ink will kill you, especially the black. Generic ink? Forget it. It clogs the nozzles and you'll waste more than you will use cleaning the nozzles. This thing does give a good print-out, but it's not worth the high price of ownership. I had an 880 and loved it. I hate this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cheap printer, expensive non-fading ink.
This little printer was no trouble to set up and start using. It's a bit slow. Even just a black & white page takes quite a while. A full-color photo takes a couple minutes. The "draft" mode comes out verrrrry faint, but is really fast, and obviously uses a lot less ink (an important point, as you will see).

This printer uses a special type of ink, called "Durabrite", which is MUCH longer-lasting than normal inkjet ink. (It's a pigment-based ink rather than a dye-based ink.) Your printouts will not fade away like a normal cheap inkjet's will. The downside to this super-duper ink is that the ink is darned expensive. The good news is that the four colors are separate cartridges, so at least you only have to replace the one color you've run out of. The black ink, however, is the MOST expensive inkjet cartridge you'll see in the store. It's about twice the price of a normal black cartridge. Yes, your printouts will last some 70 years on plain paper, instead of vanishing within 2 years like the cheapo inkjets do. Three of those $25 black cartridges later, and you've just spent more on ink than the printer itself!

Strangely, the other color cartridges (cyan, magenta, and yellow) are only half the price of the black cartridge. Don't ask me why, I have no idea. Too bad the black is the one you'll be buying most often.

I should point out that this printer will try to con you into replacing the ink cartridges long before they actually run dry (it gives you all sorts of dire warnings about low ink levels). Don't fall for it. It will actually STOP printing when it's truly run dry, so just keep printing until it stops, and only then replace the cartridge that's empty.

So, should you get this printer? It depends on what you'll be using it for. If you want a cheap printer for making quick printouts that you'll be tossing in the trash within a couple years, get a different printer. If you want printouts that will still be legible 50 years from now, get this one. If you're an artist or photographer and want to make decent prints of your art that won't fade too quickly, this is a good starter printer for you.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Printer, But Ink Eater
The printer itself is a great product, especially for the price. The print-outs are of excellent quality and it prints fairly fast. However, it goes through ink SO FAST! I don't use it extremely often and I go through one black cartridge every month and a half.

4-0 out of 5 stars Slated too badly
I have read quite a few bad reviews for this printer, but I bought one after it being reccomended to me at my local office suppliers. I think its a nice little printer for a good price. As for the ink cartridges, Epson are the cheapest printers to run, as at a computer fare or online, you can pick up a set of 4 replacement cartridges for about £10-£15.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I have had the earlier version, the C62, at my office for a year now. It is solid, trouble free, reliable, hard working. The C64 is an improved version with faster printing (17 pages per minute vs 14 ppm on the C62), and better resolution (5760 x 1440 up from 5760 x 720). The print manager is very good, lets you know when you have 20% of an ink cartridge left, then 10%, and then when you are out. When it is time to replace a cartridge, the display on the screen walks you through the steps. If paper jams (which it does not do very often), the print manager displays an "eject" button, click on that and it handles it for you. Rarely does the print head need cleaned. Last week I printed over 500 pages in the week, and the printer just kept churning them out trouble free. As to using up too much ink, perhaps the other reviewer is changing early when the 20% warning comes up, which will usually tell you how many pages you have left to print similar to the last page you printed. The amazing thing is, I paid $89 for the C62, which is a great deal considering how well it has performed, and the new improved version is only $59.

4-0 out of 5 stars Was only in market for new scanner, but...
As a graphic designer, I'm ALWAYS skeptical of anything that claims to be able to do "everything"...

Initially, I was in the market for a new scanner - I thumbed through some recent issues of MacWorld to try and find something decent and reasonably priced. I then stumbled upon a review for the RX500, because I also wanted to replace my clunky HP Deskjet- which was no good at printing photos, and it couldn't even do text that well either! Why was I keeping this thing?!

I went to CompUSA with the RX500 in mind, and there happened to be an EPSON rep. there, coincidentally in the process of selling an RX600 to someone else. Well, this person was ranting and raving over how great this printer was, and my wife and I just happened to overhear it. You married guys know how important it is to have the wife's blessing, don't you? Well, a couple of photo demonstrations and some copy tests, and we were walking out the door with an RX600 of our own!

I only gave it four stars, because I'm just way too critical of any photos & color prints that don't turn out perfect. But that's my profession, not a reflection on the product. I should have my wife write the review, because she's absolutely *thrilled* with the prospects of scanning & printing old negatives & slides, and printing directly from the camera's memory stick- no need for the nitpicky husband and his crazy Photoshop...

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality all in one device!
There are hundreds of products I could (or should) have reviewed. Some good, some bad. This is the first one I have ever felt strongly enough to comment on.

Being in the IT field I have always been skeptical of "all in one devices". However, after doing some research this is typical of those devices

Pros:
(1) It's photocopier - plain and simple. With or without the PC. Color, BW, enlarge, reduce, zoom - all the features of regular coper.
(2) Digital camera support - memory card or USB cable. Images can be viewed and printed directly - again, without a PC
(3) Ease of setup. Very easy to follow directions. Step by step. It works as advertised with no installation hassles (WinXP)
(4) Scanner & a printer. Attach to the PC via USB - scan to image, scan to application. Very easy to use, and again, it does everything it says it should do

Cons:
Honestly I can't offer any. Maybe the price, but even then you're getting a set of multi-funcitonal devices all in one. How much would a printer, a scanner, and a color copier cost separately. How much space and cabling hassle would there be?

4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice unit
This unit can do it all (except fax). The software is a dream compared to the HP2150 I returned in order to get this. I got the HP because it had built in wireless/ethernet print server and a fax. But the software bundle is all or nothing, they didn't separate out the printer driver...so anyone who wants to just print on the thing must first install 1.5gb (thats GIGabytes) of crap the infects your registry like a cancer. This Epson RX600's software is a dream. They separated everything! Just want to print occasional black and white like me, driver is just 8mb. Want everything and do photo touchups and crazy things and photo albums and scan (like my wife) - just put in the cd and add what you want one app at a time. That's why we went with this printer and returned the HP. Also, one more plus is that the RX600 scans old negatives and can print them perfectly or digitize them for you forever - the HP can't. I LOVE this feature (and yes, it's a combo of mechanical and software differences that achieve this, I dare you to try on another machine). I do miss the HP's built in print server. I bought a Linksys Wireless-G for USB2.0, and it won't work with this printer. Epson wrote me back and confirmed this. This is why I docked this review by a star. You MUST be able to run your printers from a print server. My 4 year old HPLaserJet3150 hooked up no problem, but my new Epson fails? That sucks, and if my wife didn't love this so much, I would send it back strictly for that reason. I do like how it's USB 2.0, it is fast. Separate color tanks (...)are sweet, not like HP where if blue runs out, you're forced to buy all other colors again. This has 6 color tanks all independently replaceable. Nice.
PROS: USB2.0, individual color tanks, scan negatives,LCD screen, front loading usb input for cameras, built in card reader on the front, great b/w quality, killer photo print quality, minimal/incremental/customizable software/driver install (extremely flexible and lightweight)
CONS: doesn't work w/ LinkSys print servers

5-0 out of 5 stars Epson RX600 - A standalone photo lab in a box!
I have had my RX600 for a couple of weeks now, and think it is amazing. WITHOUT USING A COMPUTER, you can copy B&W or color documents that look fine and come out pretty soon after you push the button. However, when printing PHOTOS, this thing is LOTS better than Kodak's printing system in drug stores. It reads virtually any memory card. It reads cameras, CD's, and hard drives via USB on front. It scans color slides, negatives, B&W negatives and makes FANTASTICALLY RICH prints from them. With the tilting color LCD on the front you can crop and zoom photos before printing. It can scan or copy to CD's, memory cards, USB flash, etc, using its front USB port. Also has a Bluetooth adapter option that plugs in the same USB port.

Amazing feature: Print thumbnail preview sheets and blacken circles under pictures you want. Stick these sheets in the scanner and it prints out only your choices!

Naturally it's a great computer printer and scanner. You want to fax? Use it with your computer's modem.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Multifunctional Printer
This product is the greatest. It can print, scan, copy. And it looks great with my black desktop. I love the LCD screen. ... Read more
