HP PhotoSmart 735 3.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom

The HP PS735 delivers big results from a little camera, thanks mainly to its high-resolution CCD. It also offers terrific connectivity options thanks to HP Instant Share technology that lets users select where photos will go the next time they connect the camera to a PC--e-mail addresses, printers and more.

Optics and Resolution
The PS735 has a 3.24 effective-megapixel CCD that snaps pictures at a native resolution of 2088 x 1550 pixels. That's enough resolution to allow for clear printouts at up to 11 x 14 inches. The 3x optical zoom lens can be augmented by the 5x digital zoom for a total zoom level of 15x. This is a point-and-shoot camera with a variety of automatic shooting modes, but several manual adjustments also are available for those times you need to override the default settings.

Storage and Transfer
Images are stored in the camera's 16 MB internal memory or on removable SD or MMC cards. The camera connects to a PC using a full-speed USB 1.1 interface.

More Features
The HP PhotoSmart 935 and 735 digital cameras feature the latest version of HP Instant Share. HP Instant Share is an Internet-based software application that allows consumers to select destinations from the back of the camera; then, by connecting the camera to a computer, the photos are instantly sent to the selected destinations--e-mail addresses, printers or hpphoto.com. Receivers of the HP Instant Share e-mail can easily view, print and save the photos from a secure Web page--all without downloading attachments.

The many manual adjustments include various ISO settings, several flash modes, macro focus mode, and many exposure controls. A ten-second timer is built in and the camera can adjust automatically to compensate for a variety of lighting conditions.

Other features include:

  • Captures video clips with audio
  • 1.5-inch LCD
  • Can shoot in burst mode
Power and Size
The camera is powered by two AA batteries (rechargeable NiMH batteries recommended). It measures 4.13 by 1.8 by 2.8 inches and weighs .52 pounds (without batteries).

HP PhotoSmart 7760 Photo Printer

4-0 out of 5 stars A decent camera for the price
I recentley purchased this camera from target. I now wish I had purchased it from target.com, due to the $ 50 mail-in rebate. But, anyways the camera is a solid performer, I purchased it for taking basic everyday pictures. The 3.2 megapixels are more than enough for my photos. The zoom is the reason I bought it (15 x total zoom). I am happy with it overall. The uploading process is fairly easy too. If you plan on purchasing this camera, be sure to buy good batteries (NiMh) and a charger. You will be set to take pictures for a long time. The battery cover is very flimsy so be careful there, so you may want to buy a camera case. The internal memory is allright, but dont rely on it to store all your pictures. I also purchased the 64mb memory card and at the lowest quality you can take over 400 pictures with the card. The video mode is suprisingly decent, but don't expect to shoot whole concerts. Overall, for the price its a decent camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars 1800 photos in 3 months
I am an art student and I need quick shots for reference, inspiration, actual graphic work, and documentation of my other work. I have had this camera 3 months and have taken over 1800 pictures and video and I've been very pleased with it. I take it everywhere with me. It's proved itself durable.

If you invest in this camera buy rechargable batteries and extra memory. Plan on this with ANY digital or you will be unhappy with the result. I have used three other digital cameras of different MB capabilities and by different makers...the same is true with them.

This camera has a top display that is not on any other camera in this price range. Very easy to change flash/mode/quality settings without turning on back screen. A definate plus. Saves battery and time.

This camera is a little slow but it is not anything a little patience can not handle. It just takes a little getting used to. There is a setting to take several pictures quickly. I have not had the need to use this feature, but, it may help with those hard to catch quick moments if the need arrises.

The camera is also quicker if the flash is not on. Pictures do turn out better without flash and when not applicable I advise turning it off.

The colors on this camera are GORGEOUS. They are very vibrant and bright. I advise having a photoediting program however with any digital for even BETTER pictures. A small adjustment may be all the difference you need to make a picture that's too dark and useless to the best picture you took all day. Get the best out of your digital!

There are better cameras, but be prepared to pay. This is a great camera for what it is and for the money. Take it from someone whose in the visual field. Some reviewers seem very biased about this camera. Again be prepared to buy rechargable batteries and additional memory with ANY digital camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good job, HP!
I bought this camera from Target. It is a great camera. My only peeve is that the battery door is weak, and it broke while inserting batteries. I called HP and they promptly replaced the camera. I got my replacement in less than 2 days!! As far as power consumption goes, I don't use the LCD display at all. I also use NiMH rechargables, and I get about 65 pictures each charge. I use the optical zoom sparingly and transfer pictures to my computer about 3 times. I best feature about this camera is that it has a little display on the top, where you can adjust picture quality, mode and flash options. That, I guess saves a lot of battery power. All in all, a great product and I am really happy with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great pictures fast
For those of you having problems with the batteries... We finally bought more expensive, non rechargeable batteries. Otherwise you could only take about 5 pictures, and it took FOREVER to save them. Try Energizer Litium. They worked great right up until the time someone stole it!

2-0 out of 5 stars don't get it!!!!
Don't waste the money on this camera. Pictures are great but the baterrie life is terrible...At first I didn't mind replacing the batteries because I got the rechargeable pack but things haven't changed!!! I called HP on this problem the gentalman on the phone didn't understand the problem, he told me to use photo lithium batteries I bought a pair hoping this would cure the problem but nope same old batterie sucker!!!! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Poster-ise your life!
I have been doing public relations work (my paying jobs) for the past fifteen years. For many of those years, I had to make tough choices -- I could have a printer that would permit me to print 11x17 (poster-size) paper, or I could have a colour printer, but never the two would mix (at least, not in a way that I, poor struggling self-employed student, could afford). When I discovered the HP 1120C, an affordable, good quality wide-format colour printer, I rejoiced, and bought two of them (one for home, one for office; the one at home on a Mac, the one at home on a PC).

So, when looking to upgrade after these printers had given good service, naturally I looked to HP again, and they (bless them) had an upgraded model, still within the realm of affordability. This is the 1220Cxi.

I produce a lot of posters. I did a series of 13 career posters for our local schools, and suddenly had 500 orders for sets (yes, that is 6500 posters to run). Nor are these simple posters, but rather colourful, graphic-full posters (which is required if one is to have the chance at catching the average school child's attention). I managed it on this printer. That is remarkable in anyone's book. Yes, I was running them night and day, but still, this is probably one of the harshest tests to give any printer. And it came through with flying colours.

This printer prints well on PC and the Mac (although I have had the experience that it always runs more slowly on the Mac, and the interface I've had to use for my Mac (a G3 233mhz) is somewhat clumsy in that it doesn't allow me to toggle easily between the HP, my laser printer, and the modem).

The HP DeskJet 1220C is one of the faster printers in the wide-format inkjet category. It prints at up to 11 pages per minute in black and 6 or so in color. It uses PhotoREt III Enhanced Color Layering Technology, an HP benchmark in print quality. The printer also has an alternative mode of 2400 x 1200 dpi printing on photo stock media.

I regularly use photo paper, transparencies, cardstock thickness as well as regular paper formats, and it always performs beautifully. In addition, it has features such as reverse printing/mirror image (I make decals to go on windows, which must be printed in reverse), and tiling, so that you can print things out much larger (up to five times larger); by the time you tile five 11x17 sheets together, you're getting pretty big printing there!

The documentation says also that it will handle a 5000 page per month workload, but there are some months we churn out more, and it keeps on going!

Print cartridges can be expensive (we use discounters and buy in bulk to reduce our costs) but, comparing that cost to the cost of professional printing (which isn't needed for the school audiences we're reaching) and adding in the flexibility of being able to change and print on demand, there is no contest--this printer is the tops!

I also greatly appreciate the HP website, which has downloadable templates, solutions, drivers, etc. It is well designed, and it is easy to find what you need on the site. Consider spending a little extra when getting a printer, even for home use, and get the wide-format--you'll be pleased with the flexibility of printing that it affords.

It did give up after about three years, but given the heavy level of printing I subject printers to, this is fairly typical (I've never had one last five years from any source).

2-0 out of 5 stars Power supply problems
This is an excellent printer, but it may not server you well in the long run. There are numerous people, myself included, who have had the printer die mysteriously. One day, it will just not power up. Why? Apparently the power supply board is poorly assembled and excess glue material causes the components to burn out. The suggested repair cost - almost $300.
I enjoyed owning my 1220 for almost 3 years. But my prevous HP printer lasted for almost 10 years, and I'll be in the market for a new printer and it sure won't be from HP.

5-0 out of 5 stars Does more than I could hope for except
I have a small graphics business and I bought the 1220c on speculation that it would do what I hoped it would do. It printed 11 x 17 menus like a charm. Tabloid sized photographs turn out better than I had hoped.

Just one small glitch. I work on pc and mac. On pc the printer does everything like a charm. On mac it prints in every area except quark express. When I try to print in Quark it gives me a fatal error sign and I have to reboot without extensions until I remove the offending file which is always a picture of my printer with a big x through it. Can anybody help me? I would be very grateful. Thanks a million Hewlett Packard for just one more excellent printer.

David

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning!!!
The unit is being shipped with defective (lids) covers. After going through the whole start-up. The cartridges will not activate. The lids are not putting enough pressure to activate the sensors.

You will find this out after spendinding your money & time call the (Non-toll Free Warranty Support). They are aware of the problem and shipped me another lid. The only problem is that this lid did not work either. You have to actually put pressure or step on the lid to make the Printer work. The minute you take the pressur off...The printer stops...

HP Acknowledged they are having problems with this issue. However they still make you go through the time & expense of re-shipping. Telephoning and wasting time on hold...Never again

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Investment
This is my third printer that I have purcased since becoming a
computer wiz or a new comer. If you like to do your own Photo's'
this HP Deskjet 1220Cxi will really turn out very sharp color
prints. Another feature that I really like is how you can save
paper also on your Ink, with their Print Preview editing feature
Again I give this printer my thumbs
up and say that this would be a very wise purchase that you
would not regret.... ... Read more
