great TV for the money
Casio's portable color TV-980 is a great, inexpensive option for road trips or places you need a TV. It is small enough to fit in most jacket pockets and the antenna picks up stations well. In fact, I can pick up more stations with this TV than with my rabbit ears at home.

The screen is a passive-matrix LCD display. It is sharp and clear, and the colors are rather vivid. It is important to keep the brightness at the right level, otherwise the display is difficult to read. It is also tough at times to read small print on the screen, the display is clear but not when it has to be read that close.

The television is powered by 4 AA batteries, which will give you about 4 hours of viewing time. There is also an AC adapter option, however, you will have to either buy this separately, or get this TV in the package which includes a case and the adapters. no customer service, no adapter
I just bought this and 1. it did not come with an adapter for in-home use nor did it come with a car adapter. Its a neat little tv, but - when I tried to call to ORDER the adapters - the number is "no longer active". So what does that tell you? It tells you that - do not buy this product. It costs too much, and they can't even supply an adapter! and 2. There is NO customer service to order more supplies, ask about warranty, return the defective product or ask general inquiries. I gave it two stars for its quality, but dropped the two stars for horrible customer service and no adapter.

Much less than expected!
This TV is not very sensitive and does not pick up stations very well. The unit does not work with an external power source and must be repaired which is an additional shipping cost. The bottom line: Another expensive useless piece of junk!

Too cool!
This thing is AMAZING! Courtesy of Hurricane Isabel and a decaying deregulated infrastructure, our power has gone off 6 times in the past month, for as long as 10 hours at a time. Even though we have laptops, the DSL doesn't work without AC, so repeated unpredictable blackouts really cut us off from the world, the weather etc. No more. It works on batteries, a vehicle DC charger, or regular AC. Batteries last forever courtesy of the LCD screen. It has a built-in, adjustable antenna but since we are in the sticks and a minimum of 55 miles to the nearest broadcast station, we got an optional adaptor designed to connect it to an outside antenna, but we connected it to cable instead. Direct connect to cable gives channels 2-22 and 56-98, we've also run it thru a VCR to give access to all channels (of course that doesn't work when the power is off). Last power outage - no problem, got local news to determine that it wasn't a terrorist attack, it wasn't affecting the entire east coast, just a little local inconvenience. It's funny now that when the power goes off and the neighbors are in utter darkness, we still have a working light in the frontyard because its a gaslight, AND have the familiar blue glow coming from this puppy inside - combining the best of the 19th century & the 21st.

In addition, my partner and I no longer fight over the tube. We can both watch what we want to within arm's reach of each other, with little unwanted disturbance from the other. He can point out the Cubbies fan grabbing for the ball in the playoffs, I can point out the Roomba vacuum ad I want for Xmas, and then we happily both go back to what we were doing. Better Than CD Labels
I've owned this cd printer for about a year now and I love it. It works much better than labels that can come off from heat and ruin cd players. Although you can print single color graphics, multicolored graphics aren't recommended. For that you'll need to buy a different thermal cd printer, and they run about [$$$$] a pop! So, for under [$$], you can't beat it. You may have read the previous post regarding the cost of the ribbons, but that was a little high. You can get a 3pack of black ribbons for [less], that's not bad for 3 labels....If you're looking for neat and affordable cd printing for mostly text, this is it. Comes with software and 1 free black ribbon. Ribbons also come in red, blue and silver. Try this little printer out, you'll love it! (PS stock up on black ribbons if you can, the supply seems to run out quickly)

Professional look at an amateur price
This is a great little disc printer--both CD and DVD. Installation and software is simple to install and operate. In addressing a few of the drawbacks cited by others, let me say that they are minor and easily overcome.

This printers prints on ALL CD's and DVD's that I have tried. You may have to be clever on how you rotate the disc to insure that the print area is clear of manufacturer's writings, but I've been successful with several different, including Sony, Memorex, Imation and Fuji. Print quality is excellent.

The printer will only print on standard full-sized CD's and DVD's and not on the CD-Single or CD-Business card discs.

As for the fact that you may only get 20-40 labelings per label tape, that makes the cost about 15 cents each. If I can get a great looking print job on my labels for distribution at an average costs of 75 cents total (including amortizing the cost of the printer over 300 discs, the cost of the discs and the cost of the print ribbons) then I feel I've hit the jackpot!

By the way, many have pointed out that you can only print in one color per disc. This is not true. You can print each line in a different color if you want to and have the patience.

Do not be dissuaded. At this price, you can't go wrong.

Depends on CD or DVD you are printing on.
I gave this printer 3 stars because your results depend on the media you are printing on. If the media you are using is textured in anyway, forget about using this printer. The CD / DVD must be perfectly smooth. With a smooth CD / DVD, the results look pretty good. If you are used to the paper labels you print and stick on, the result can look a little industrial because, unless you change ribbons between printing lines, its all one color. But with smooth media the results are clear and don't easily come off. With a textured surface, the results are really bad. All of my DVDs have a textured surface (TDK is what I use the most). The results are horrible when the media has a textured surface and smooth combination, (imation DVDs are like this). Please look at your favorite media before you buy this printer, I wish I knew this before I bought it because I don't want to switch media just to print a label clearly.

Fine If You Seek A No-Frills CD Printing Experience
I have had and used one of these for two years, and I find it workable and useful, despite its obvious graphic shortcomings. Most fonts appear somewhat pixilated when printed on CD surfaces. I have developed a 'palette' of fonts that work particularly well. Sans serif fonts such as Futura, Franklin Condensed and such seem to work the best.
Graphics tend to look particularly rotten, no matter how high the dpi of the image is. I am non-amazed at how an outline of a rectangle, made in bold, thick lines and saved at 1200 dpi, comes out looking like mud. This printer is best at simpler jobs.
The printer does its work quickly, which is good. I've had to bat out 50 or 60 CDs in an afternoon, and the printer is faster than I am with the discs!
THE SINGLE BIGGEST DRAWBACK to this and to other Casio CD printers are those @$(^@_^_@!~ ribbons. The ribbons hold exactly 40 prints. If you use 2 per CD, that means a fresh ribbon after every 20 discs. The ribbons are not sold in office supply stores. CompUSA carried them for a brief time, then moronically deleted them. And don't even think about OfficeMax, -Depot or Staples. The cheapest I've found the ribbons is here, at $7.00 apiece, or sometimes on eBay for less. I am always "counting bullets" with these infernal ribbons. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING GETTING ONE OF THESE, TAKE THIS TO HEED: the ribbons are a supreme pain in the ass. They are hard to locate, expensive, and wastefully manufactured. The greedy souls at Casio could easily get another 20-50 prints' worth of ribbon on the cartridges.
As well, the ribbons often have flaws in their manufacture, making for fuzzy half-coverage of some prints.
I am probably making this printer sound worse than it really is. As said, if your ambitions are simply to have a title printed in regular type, without much ado, this will do the trick. If you seek anything more complex, you'll need a bigger and better machine.

This printer is well worth the money, i have printed hundreds of cd's so far, and it works without a hitch. The only thing that can be a little annoying is that the ink cartridge only does about 20 cds's each. This can get a little pricey if you are printing alot of cd's. I love this litle TV!!
I keep this on my desk at work. Most stations in my area come in clearly. A few are fuzzy, but that's not the fault of the TV, that happens with all portable TV's. You have to be in an area of good reception. Anyway, this little TV has a really clear picture for a portable TV!

If it came with an A/C adapter, I'd give it 5 stars. But I have to dish out another $15 for the adapter.

Good Emergency Backup TV
I bought this TV in July of 2003 after a massive storm knocked out power to over 75% of the Memphis area. I finally got to use it when another storm rolled through May 30, 2004, and our power went out during a series of tornado warnings and severe thunderstorms. The nice thing about the color screen is that you can see the radar image on the news and stay informed. The digital tuner works good if you are close to the city. In the outskirts it might not be as effective. I really liked being able to stay with the news after the power went out. It takes 4 AA batteries which are easy to install. It has a "kick stand" on the back which allows you to set it up on a table at an angle. The controls are easy to use and the volume seems sufficient even when the rain and thunder are loud. The only thing that would make this TV a little better would be a larger screen. I highly recommend having this in your emergency stash. If you only use it for emergencies, I would recommend non-rechargable batteries. But be sure to keep the batteries with it but in another container so that they don't leak and make a mess.

Casio SY30 - Disappointment
I purchased the Casio SY-30 as a Christmas gift for my in-laws and was highly disappointed. Reception is poor, if not non-existent, as none of the main (i.e. ABC, CBS, NBC) TV channels were accessible in their home. It is difficult to manually adjust the TV to locate the stations - you can't tell what station you are turning to since there is just a yellow line that appears when tuning - there's no clear-cut channel identification. Upon returning the item, I did not receive the full value paid for it as selling a TV that doesn't work wasn't Amazon's fault. If you are even thinking about purchasing this item, go to a store so you can get a full refund if you have to return it.

Great value for money
It's fun , it's versatile, it's very playable and great value for money. Not only that; but AMAZON has it at a knock down price. You can't find a better keyboard value at this price! I'm using it in home recording, for live music applications and for songwriting. Its portability as well as versatility makes it a leader. Far better than a TI...
Simply put the Casio 9850GB Plus is the best performace over price value out there. Though many schools have TI centric curriculum, I've found I have an even easier time than the TI owning students because of the Casio's straightforward interface. I highly recommend this calculater, it's easy to use, as fast (or faster in my expierence) in graphing sine functions when compared to TI's, and the price is unbeliveable (I got mine for $49). My advice, go against the crowd, get a Casio. You'll thank me later.

Best Buy Graphic Calculator
I needed a graphing calculator for a math course I'm taking late in life. Everyone said go Ti. When comparing the functions of both this Casio and the $150.00 Ti, I found them to be capable of the same things. With a rebate, I only spent $40.00 for this one and it does all I need to do. If you can handle the little differences in operation between Casio and the Ti that the professor probably has, save some money. The color display makes the graphs much easier to see. Highly recommend this calculator.

Great Calculator
I bought this calculator before i enetered the 9th grade. Everyone in my class had the Texas Instruments TI 83 so i wanted to be different so i bought the CFX-9850GB Plus. It was the best desicion of my mathemtics life. Aftewr my friends saw the features and the user friendly menu they also decided to buy one. It has more features than the TI 83 and is easier to use. It is a bargain at the price it is being offered at. Even if you already have a graphing calculator i suggest buying one ASAP.

I have one and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I bought mine to use in my classes for my A.A.S. Electronic Engineering. It has been a mind-saver when it comes to finding the answer to any equation I come across. The mathmatical features of this unit are more than enough for any field of study. I would recommend it for anyone. The only drawback I could find with this unit (as with any graphic unit), is the time it takes to learn some of the more advanced features, however, there is a very informative handbook to help you get the most out of this product. If you purchase one, you should not be disappointed.

User friendly!
I am in a college statistics class and I am glad I have this calculator instead of a TI-83 or ANY TI for that matter. My professor would give instructions for both the TI-83 and Casio CFX-9850 GB Plus and let me tell you the Casio has fewer steps almost all the time! With the TI, it is very easy to put in statistics info wrong if you cannot remember the proper order to input the numbers. With the Casio, it tells you what numbers to put where. If I had to pick between the TI and the Casio, I would pick the Casio. Even my mathematics professor recommends it for ALL of her courses. ... Read more

BE -300 - Best PDA of the century
First of all, this PC is for SERIOUS people, who use it for business, organization, school, etc.
This handheld is an excellent device! It is fast and the OS is simple! Whatever you want to do, there it is and when doing stuff, the directions are self-explanatory. Has good programs, but not many additional ones. The website has lots of differnt programs for the Casio BE-300. Most are very cheap, however they can go up to 20 bucks. Most programs are 5-6 bucks. LOTS OF NICE SOFTWARE (solitaire, freecell, word processor, world clock and much more)
Everything about this machine is great! Fast, beautiful screen, light (weight) and it can fit both types of CompactFlash cards! Get Type 1 though, not Type 2! Also, don't listen to the box. In the Hardware Manual, which comes with it, says that both types fit! I have a Type 1, because it is more common.
Yes, this machine CAN PLAY MP3 files! I have 3 of these files on mine. Also when having headphones, the sound is great.
Anyways, great PDA and great price for it! I recommend that you buy this marvelous device!

A Surprisingly Good Unit at a Great Price
I previously owned 2 Casio Pocket planners, and had to get something new after I damaged my last unit. When I surveyed what was out there, I was disappointed to find that the typical Electronic/Appliance and Office Supply stores around town carried mostly Palm devices, with only a miniscule assortment of Treo and Sony models, in addition to a few wildly expensive "Pocket PC" type devices.
Then I found the info on the Casio BE-300.
I was somewhat concerned when I read the mixed nature of the buyer reviews, but decided that I could work with the kind of negatives that were mentioned.
Once I received it (3 wks ago) and started using it, I was very happy I bought it.
--Beautiful color display, great resolution;
--16MB RAM is one of the larger standard memory capacities around
--Using a modified Windows-CE OS (instead of the Palm OS) frees up display space for easier use and beter viewability.
I had only one minor problem synchronizing with Outlook. I followed the bundled PC Connect software instructions, and ran into only one issue - the program wouldn't accept the Mail synchronization settings. I later realized the reason was probably that my business mailbox exceeded 200 MB at the time, and would have crashed the Sync process anyway.
It took me a half hour to get through that problem, and when I went to sync folders, it took just a short while to sync my tasks, Calendar, Contacts, and folders. I guess I'll have to delay setting up e-mail until I can trim my mailbox.
I also synchronized a folder of very complex, large Excel files. I downloaded the PTab program from Casio's website, and can now edit and manipulate large, formula rich business spreadsheets. I was amazed to find that I can work directly with fully functional formula entries on a pocket unit this small.
Speaking "small", the BE-300 is actually a bit smaller than my previous 64k(!) planner.
The only two disadvantages that I can see are the fact that I had to buy it over the net, instead of trying one out "in the flesh"; and I wish the expansion slot had room for a cover that would fit with a flash card in place. (Just concerned that pocket lint could get into the connector area and cause problems.)
I'm looking forward to the future when I can learn and start to use some of the Internet type functions of this unit.
I am tremendously pleased with the unit, and think that anyone who's interested in excellent value for a bargain price should buy from AMAZON and try this unit out.

Slow Recall
I have owned this unit. It's processor was very slow when searching a contact. It took up to 20 seconds. I have always had Casio PDA's, but had to trade this one in for a Toshiba.

BE-300 is Very Good-BUT
This is an excellent PDA.
BUT it stopped working in 3 months but i would still highly recommmend it because i caused the problem and it is very sturdy and the screen quality is great and the mp3 player is nice too!
Plus CompactFlash is a must have!

BE-300, It was a GOOD one, until.......
It was a GOOD one until I tried to buy a new battery for it. It took me a week to get ahold of someone at Casio to order a battery. When I finally did, it was on backorder. They refered me to another supplier that gets them from Casio. When I asked "how much?" they said $63 plus freight ($71 total). I decided that was too much. I only paid $140 for my BE-300 new. Casio TV EV-4500 is a good buy!
Amazon delivered promptly and professionally as usual. The set met my discerning approval. The picture is bright and clear. Living near a mountain, reception was my main concern. The set performs well under these conditions. Using the dipole rod antenna all local stations were received... some better than others. Don't expect cable TV quality reception though (although it has an input for an external antenna). Know the portable TV's limitations and you won't be disappointed. EV-4500 is well built. Sound is adequate for up close viewing and tuning is a snap. Scan through all channels - no presets. We use it for watching the news on our back porch while we have dinner and it works well. My wife uses it in the kitchen and bath suite. Too small for constant viewing but just right for a quick news show.

Very nice picture in a small package
If you're in the market for a portable television, I recommend you skip the 2.3 inch models and upgrade to this 4 inch Casio. You'll be amazed by the difference 2 inches can make. I've abandoned my smaller RCA portable after seeing the display on the EV-4500; the difference is striking.

The TFT LCD screen produces a sharp, detailed picture and reception is quite good even before extending the rod antenna. Sound from the small speaker is also clear but you can always use the ear jack (mono sound only). The only reason I knocked off a star is because of battery life. Casio's specs. indicate an estimate battery life of 2 hours (4 AAs); that's close to reality, so the other reviewer's recommendation is dead-on: if you plan on watching this often, buy the AC adaptor accessory (MSRP 19.95). A car adaptor is also available.

If you want a portable television with a great picture (that doesn't induce eye strain), buy this EV-4500. It's a great value.

Keeps Me In The News
I always like to watch the news while I make dinner but in my small kitchen it was not easy to fit a TV on the counter. I was actually looking a larger ones but my husband got me the Casio EV-4500 for Christmas last year. The pros and cons are both the same: it is small. Nice and small so it does not take up much counter space but too small for watching, say football games. But, for general weeknight news watching, it is fine.
Two notes: it did not come with a power cord and I used rechargable batteries for several months but it got very tiring to replace the batteries every 2-3 days. So, I recommend you buy the optional wall plug, which I now have too.
Also, the set did have to be returned for repair (the screen died) but they sent me a new one rather quickly. No problems so far with this one (knock wood). ... Read more

Overpriced "hook"
What you save on the CW50 you lose on the ribbons. The ribbons are about 10.00 which makes it imperative to find the absolutely lowest price. My CW50 broke down. It's under warranty so I sent it back. It ruined a ribbon in the process. A lot of websites say it's good for 50 prints. However, the back of the single pack says it's good for 40 prints. I was mislead. The price of the ribbons should be 3.99-5.99. I have been constantly complaining to Casio to get the prices down. A digital camera that lasted less than half a year
I bought this dig camera when there was no customers reviews, so i basically risked it. Well, my consequence is that I have to send it back to the Casio Company for repair. I bought it in March, 2004 and now tons of lines appeared on the screen for i don't know what reasons. They said maybe I drop it, it went through some scanning problem, or just there are some problems with it! v.v ... Other THAn that.. this dig cam is pretty good .. but I don't know what the say.. not only half a year yet~ The pictures are pretty nice, great functions, it would be better if this 5 mp dig has sound for the video mode. Hopefully the problems will be fixed or else I guess risking is baD.

Good camera, red eye a problem
I like the camera a lot but the red eye thing is really hard to get away from since the flash is so close to the lens axis. The camera is small, easy to use and with a 512 KB card can really take a lot of photos. The video feature is useless, but so what, that's why I have a video camera. I like the battery charger's small size and the ability to use commonly available batteries while the rechargeable ones are in the charger. All in all an easy to use and carry camera that does a decent job of taking pictures and with careful placement of people and using the red eye elimination feature can do good close up work. Oh by the way my wife reminded me that one of the more important reasons that we got this camera is the larger view screen.

easy to use, picture quality was lacking
Like so many other people I researched digital cameras before I bought this one. I played with it for a week and was disappointed in the picture quality I got. Any pictures taken later in the day produced red-eye, even with the red eye reduction feature on. You also have to hold absolutely still. If you don't you get fuzzy pics. If your subject moves, same thing. The camera was great, and easy to use. I was just expecting more. I have played with my family and friends cameras and they get much better pictures with less hassle. I did load my pics onto my computer to fix them, but the software that comes with it is useless. In order to get rid of the red-eye, I had to use other software that I already had on my computer. I decided that if I didn't have the extra software to fix my pics, I would be very unhappy with this product. That's why I returned it. I do understand that I will not get perfect pics all the time with other cameras, but I was getting more pics to "delete" than I was to "save".

Very Pleased
We are very pleased with this little camera. We got it for a trip to Disney and were concerned about the print quality. Ultimately, we just wanted great prints. Well, they exceeded our expectations! Here's what else we liked:

-Great price for 5MP camera.
-Easy to use, but with a few extra features (like a histogram and various adjustable settings) for those who want to use them.
-2 NIHM AA rechargable batteries (with a charger that is great for travel) that last a long time (a full day at Disney, plus some--about 150 shots)
-Small, compact camera size makes it easy to carry around.
-21 settings on the camera help you to set the best shot. (Like a "Fireworks" setting that we used in the evening at Disney; also Scenery, Portrait, Monochrome, Night Scenes and others.)
-Zippy start-up time when you turn it on
-Can take short, silent movie clips

What we don't like:
-Red eye on some shots--even with the reduction feature.

You'll want to play around at first to learn the best settings, but the great thing is you can always just delete what you don't like. This was a GREAT replacement for our film camera! Well worth the price!

BEST value, most usable digital camera around!
This Casio QV-R51 is really SUPER! You have to THINK about what you are buying, and why. For starters, this uses 2 of the most available AA batteries, period - NO special $30 to $50 batteries. Then, even if you should crash the TWO INCH (about 1/3 LARGER than usually found on cameras of this type) VIDEO viewfinder, there is ALSO an OPTICAL viewfinder that also works with the optical 3X Zoom lens so you can SEE what you are looking at.
The QUALITY of the pictures is great, and you can print them directly to most Epson printers, and many others that allow it, without going thru a computer. The software included makes quick downloads to any USB equipped computer. You can also shoot up to 60-second MOVING PICTURES (60-seconds at a time). While there is no sound available for this, and the quality reminds me of when my father took 16-mm movies of me a zillion years ago- - it is like a freebee, and not why I bought this camera. Good in size, bad in quality.
when i just bought it, its compactable size seemed to be its biggest advantage. however,its battery life isn't that good as it could only last for at most 2,3 days. sometimes, lesser than a day if many pictures were to be taken. also,its metal finish ain't that good as it is scratchable easily.Not good if you were prepared to have it with you for the rest of you life.thus, i find that only its size and mp3 function is a big plus for this little camera, without the fact of its poor quality of pictures. but hey, wad can you expect from a 2 megapixel camera...

style & convenience=5 stars, pictures=3 stars
I am overall pleased with my purchase.
PROS:
1. really nice style; eye-poppingingly small; attractive aluminum finish; fits in pocket/take it with you everyday.
2. fast response (due to fixed focus lens which is also a con); ready to take a picture almost instantly.
3. video mode is very fun; takes decent mpeg videos with sound even in low light; i use this feature a lot.
4. mp3 function is awesome; except included earbuds are useless (too big for ear hole); good battery life.

CONS:

1. picture quality only fair; fixed focus optimal for subjects around 3-5 ft away. closeups & landscapes not so sharp. low light stiuations for stills pretty bad (i dont like to use flash).
2. quality of remote unit for mp3 is bad. after only 2 months the wire crapped out (must jiggle and hold in a certain position for sound to come through).
3. battery life for stills & videos could be better but not really bad.
4. only 8MB built in memory; i recommend buying 256MB SD card (i wasted money on separate 64 & 128 cards)

you could get better optics in a similarly small package (the sony dsc-u20 for example; sharper pictures but poor video quality, no sound or mp3, cheap plasticy case); but the combination of the mp3 function, fast response as well as attention getting style made this the choice for me.

very cute camera.
I purchased this camera instead of a higher quality camera because of its size and its functions. The mp3 player part of it is awesome and the size of it is very convenient. its a great camera, although the quality of the pictures arent that great. i recommend this camera for people looking to take everyday pictures, but if you're looking for quality, this camera might not satisfy you. i bought a 256 memory card with it, and it allows me to have as many things on my camera as i desire. great design very stylish.. =]

A thing of beauty
I bought my girlfriend the Exilim S2 about a year ago, she got fed up with me using it, so I had to buy my own. The thing is just amazing. Simple to use, in a beautiful, sturdy, magnesium, credit-card sized body. And the battery lasts ages. Picture quality on the lower resolution settings isn't so good, and the digital zoom is rubbish, but that's hardly the point. This is a camera for snaps, moments where you just want to reach into your pocket and snap what's in front of you. The computer interface is a doddle - I use it with my Mac, and all the file formats are standard so you can use it with just about anything. I know about five people that have gone out and bought this camera after I demonstrated it to them, I should be getting commission from Casio!
