Amazon.com Product Description

Canon's EOS-10D 6.3-megapixel digital SLR builds on the strengths of the award-winning EOS-D60 and offers a range of improvements to both the camera's design and its feature set. It offers a seven-point wide-area autofocus system, fast 3-frames-per-second burst rate, and an ergonomic, super-tough magnesium alloy body shell.

The 6.3-million effective pixel CMOS sensor--providing up to 3,072 x 2,048 pixels--is supported by Canon's unique high-power DIGital Imaging Core (DIGIC) processor. The speed at which the DIGIC processor works has allowed Canon to extend the number of full resolution images in burst sequences to nine, at a rate of 3 frames per second. As well as improved speed, DIGIC also helps produce more accurate color rendition while reducing image noise.

The metering system, using the newest metering algorithm available and a 35-zone evaluative metering system linked to all seven focus points, offers improved exposure consistency and stability. A range covering ISO 100 to 1,600 offers high-quality images across a very broad spectrum of shooting conditions. Photographers working in particularly poor light may also take advantage of an option to extend this range to ISO 3,200.

The EOS-10D is the first digital SLR camera to feature direct printing. Linking via a USB cable, you can make prints immediately from any of Canon's range of compatible bubble jet or CPprinters--including the S830D, S530D, and CP-100--without the need to connect to a computer. Controls within the camera's own menu system allow you to choose print quantity, size, and image cropping. When using Canon's card photo printer CP-100, with the optional battery pack, prints can be made in the field away from a power supply.

Other features include:

  • Automatic selection of FAT16 or FAT32 file systems, to supportlarge-capacity CompactFlash Type I or II memory cards of over 2 GB storage size (such as Microdrives).
  • 1.8-inch TFT (transreflective) LCD monitor with five brightness levels and 10x zoom.
  • Super Intelligent Orientation Sensor detects whether the camera is being held in the portrait or landscape orientation when an image is captured, and automatically rotates the image in the camera's LCD preview screen and on a computer when downloading using Canon's ZoomBrowser software.
  • Extended battery life providing approximately 650 images without flash or 500 images with 50 percent flash.
  • Ability to save an image in RAW format even when it was shot in JPEG mode.

The EOS-10D comes complete with battery pack, compact singlebattery-charging unit, USB cable, video cable, the latest Canon software and Photoshop Elements. The EOS-10D accepts the same BP-511 battery pack, and the same BG-ED3 battery grip as the EOS-D60. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing camera, outstanding flexibility
The 10D is the camera I had been waiting for; the look and feel of a 35 with all the benefits of a digital camera. The camera feels great in your hands and produces outstanding results. It can be used as a point and shoot with little instruction and the creative modes and manual override settings allow you the freedom to take control of any shooting situation. The 9 shot drive mode is great for sports action. The camera even gets good battery life (approx. 500 shots w/half flash). I highly recommend a minimum of 128mb compact flash card for higher end photos as well as a tripod for optimal control. B/c the 10D is compatible with all EF lenses it's easy to pickup extra lenses at good prices. Extra batteries and other accessories are also available. Outstanding camera but still very hard to find and a bit pricey when you can find one.

4-0 out of 5 stars canon eos 10 :affordable digital for serious photographers
I purchased my Canon eos 10d seven months ago after extensive reviews of available cameras that were affordable. Recent price drops have made this camera within the reach of serious amateur phtographers. I would never go back to film because the instant review of photos is a great learning tool, plus you can experiment with settings without paying for film or waiting for developing. Reading all the camera tests was great but there is no substitute for actual experience.
I have taken over 4000 photos of wildlife, mostly birds, plus quite a few landscapes. The quality of your work will depend a great deal on quality lenses, study of exposure theory and becoming familiar with the cameras features. If you just want to point and shoot, buy a less expesive camera. to get the best use you will need to use the customized features to adjust exposure. This camera will require manual focus in low light nature scenes and shots with lots of sky. It also will not function in autofocus mode when using the teleconvertor on a lens like the Canon 100-400L IS. This unit also tends to overexpose when taking landscapes with lots of light, requiring the use of built in exposure compesation or photoediting programs. Be prepared to spend time studying the manual or buying
an aftermarket book. With these reservations I highly reccomend this camera.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not happy with this camera
I have owned a Canon TX and Canon 650 film cameras. I was always very happy with my Canon film cameras. I bought the 10d thinking that I was finally able to get a digital replacement for my old Canon film cameras.

I have now owned my 10d for over a year. The picture quality is only fair. It often selects ISO 100 and gives me fuzzy pictures. The white balance is extremely poor compared with the film cameras. The "full automatic" mode does a poor job of focus and white balance. The "creative" modes are similar to the film cameras but don't seem to work so very well. I am just having a terrible time trying to get the settings right to get good pictures! After a year of trying I am extremely frustrated with it.

Finally, the print pictures I get from it are _always_ too dark. It seems I need to post-process EVERY PICTURE in photoshop to get the gamut correct, or brighten/enhance/correct the photos to make them look right. Argh!

It's all probably user error, but I never had these problems with my old film cameras. If I could easily get PhotoCDs made I would go back to film immediately!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!
This camera is everything I desired in a digital camera and so much more. While other kids played baseball and football I grew up with a Pentax MX strapped around my neck. Photography was and is my passion. This camera allows me the expression I always dreamed of. Combined with Adobe Photoshop, this is the best camera/darkroom setup I've ever worked with!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mega happy
I've had my 10D for just over six months, taking mainly landscape/wildlife photos during that time. I moved up from a Minolta film SLR and chose the 10D in preference to Nikon due to my experiences with the Powershot S400 (compatability of menu systems, software etc) and in preference to the Digital Rebel due to build quality/feel and the slightly faster FPS and improved buffer (important to me when trying to photograph animals). I have a big trip to Alaska coming up where the camera will pay for itself with the savings in film/developing alone, never mind the instant feedback and convenience of not having to sort through 250 rolls of film when I get back.

Overall experience with the 10D is very positive with minimal/no shutter lag, great autofocus speed, and the SLR type features often missing such as depth of field preview, mirror lock up etc. If I have any issue with the camera it is the boot up time which seems like an age compared to simply turning on a film camera but isn't too unreasonable compared to other digital SLRs (the brand new Nikon being one of the few exceptions-at a price, mind).

Other reviewers here and on other sites have commented on the soft focussing. Never had an issue with it but I'm not shooting portraits of people but rather I'm normally using large depth of field.

Picture quality has been consistently excellent. Without trying to mess around with the white balance etc I find the color to be spot on and exposure is consistently where I expect it to be. The additional exposure latitude of digital over slide film really helps on difficult to catch contrasty outdoor scenes and the 10D does a great job of making the most of it (comparing it to point and shoot digital images really brings out the differences). I've printed numerous prints at 13"x19" on a Canon i9100 inkjet at home that are outstanding and exceed the quality that pro lab printed slides/negatives have achieved.

Unfortunately, I managed to get the dreaded "Error 99" message a few weeks ago. I use two new Canon lenses (28-135IS and 100-400IS) and a Sigma 12-24. Seeing other comments about non-Canon lenses causing the problem, I called Sigma who confirmed the 12-24 is software compliant and shouldn't be the issue. I called the Canon service hotline and after 20 seconds was actually speaking to a live body (amazing in this day and age). The technician ran through all the things that could be tried to fix it and confirmed that the camera needed to be sent in for repair. I mailed it on a Tuesday and received the camera back the following Wednesday (with the Memorial Day weekend in between) fully functioning, with a new shutter, updated software, and fully cleaned and running to factory specs. Outstanding service response and an experience to put a smile on my face.

Highly recommended accessories to get for the 10D: 1) a second battery (good power usage but I take way more shots than I used to on film and it's not good to run out while in the middle of nowhere); 2) some form of cover for the LCD screen (hoodman peel-on/off work great and help protect it from scratches). ... Amazon.com Product Description

Canon's 12x36 Image Stabilization II binoculars incorporate an optical image stabilizer for shake-free viewing with minimal eye fatigue. This technology was first developed for Canon video camcorders and is now available in many of Canon's binoculars. The system employs a Vari-Angle Prism, dual transparent plates, independent vertical and horizontal sensors, and a dedicated microprocessor to continuously adjust the prism to maintain a steady image.

These 12x36 Image Stabilization II binoculars feature a water-resistant rubber coating for nonslip holding. If you get caught in light rain, you don't have to worry about the optics fogging up or getting ruined. These binoculars deliver high magnification, long eye relief, and wide-field viewing. Controls for focusing and image stabilization are centrally located and are accessible by both hands.

Improvements to the objective lens assembly have resulted in the binoculars being approximately 26% lighter and 10% smaller than the previous 12x36 IS model they replace. And reductions in power consumption mean a massive 270% increase in battery life of up to four hours using two AA-size alkaline batteries.

Image Stabilization and More
With any high magnification binoculars, most users will experience frustrating image shake. Unless fixed to a tripod, image shake can render high magnification binoculars useless. Canon's IS technology is remarkably effective at eliminating this problem and is widely used by the television industry with Canon's professional broadcast quality video recording equipment. A special VAP (Vari-Angle Prism) corrective IS system sits between the objective lens group and the porro prism on each side of the binoculars. Within thousandths of a second of the binoculars being moved from their optical axis by vibrations, a detection system activates the IS mechanism. The VAP shape alters to refract or 'bend' the light path by precisely the right amount, thus fully compensating for the vibration. It is this essentially immediate response that effectively suppresses image shake. The binoculars' compact design is based on Canon's popular 10x30 IS model. Curved surfaces mean easy handling, while nature lovers will appreciate the low-reflectance exterior and low gloss front covers, which help to avoid disturbing birds and other

What do the numbers mean?
15x50? 8x25? The two numbers used to describe any pair of binoculars are their magnification — 8x, 12x, 15x and so on — and the diameter of their objective lenses — 25mm, 36mm, 50mm, and so on. The larger the first number is, the larger the object will appear to be in the objective lens. For instance, if you use a 10x lens and look at an object that is 100 yards away, it appears to be the same size as an object located just 10 yards away. The second number, the size of the objective lens, is important because the larger the objective lens, the more light it can admit for brighter, more detailed images, and the better suited they will be for lowlight situations.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good camera for daytime photos; not so good for night photos
This is a compact camera with solid metal construction.Startup times and shutter lag are extremely fast for a digital camera.Daytime and flash pictures are excellent.Macro pictures of flowers are pretty sharp.I'm also happy that the camera runs on AA batteries. Low light focusing is very good.Nightime pictures illuminated by street lights are okay when the camera automatically chooses a shutter speed of 1/8 sec and ISO of 250.However, anything darker than that requires the use of the nighttime scene best shot mode.Under nighttime scene best shot mode, the camera chooses a shutter speed greater than 1/8 sec.Often it may chose between 2-4 seconds, which means that one absolutely needs a tripod to avoid image blur caused by camera shake. It would have been nice if the camera offered manual control of the shutter and aperature settings because I can take reasonably shake-free photos up to a shutter speed of 1/2 sec and sometimes I don't want the camera to automatically chose a shutter speed longer than I think is necessary.Another annoyance is that the noise reduction system takes on average about ten seconds to process long exposure pictures. I suppose this frustration made me to return the camera and get a Canon A85 camera with manual controls instead even though the Canon A85 operates slower than the Casio QV-R62. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect!
I'm very happy with this purchase. I've had it for a month now and it has worked flawlessly. It takes great stills, on par with other 5mp cameras, but that's not why I got it.I wanted something that could do decent stills & videos - so I wouldn't need my camcorder anymore. The vids are not quite as good as a DV camcorder, but I'll settle for 90% of dv camcorder quality for the joy of leaving the camcorder at home. Another thing - tape sucks! It takes forever to get a movie on tape into my computer for editing/burning.Saving movies on a SD card rocks!

My only gripes are the included software and camera computer interface.
Each time you take a movie clip, it is saved on teh SD card as a seperate mpeg4 file. That's OK, except Casio doesn't include an easy way to link the clips together again. The included Movie Wizard software will let you link together clips, but you must save them as dv or mpeg1/2 files which are much bigger and the conversion process is very slow. I searched the net and found a program called avi joiner to quickly splice together mpeg4 clips.
As for the camera computer interface, I have had trouble moving large video files from the camera to my HDD. The process errors out and I get a message that the connection to the camera is lost. I have to cycle power on the camera and try again. I always get them off eventually, but it is a pain. I haven't tried it with a different computer, so it might not have anything to do with the camera.

But overall I am very happy with the EX-P505

Crap! I don't have much more time.

I wish I had time to share everything I have learned....the alien/govt/megacorp collusion has produced amazing technologies. After being puzzled over several freakishly innovative aspects of the Casio Exilim Ex-p505, and upon closer examination of the camera, I began to make a startling realization....Now I have the PROOF I need!

It's all there, Crap! They are definitely on to me. I've been at this public IP terminal too long...

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! Great Photo Printer For Just A Bit More Than New Ink
My old HP 880C needed new ink cartridges but I felt the money spent on ink (forty - fifty dollars) would be better spent towards a new, up-to-date technology printer. Man, prices have come down in the five years since I got the HP. Print quality has gone the opposite way (way up). This printer prints FANTASTIC photos. The sample Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy prints are indistinguishable from lab prints...in many ways they're even better because you can crop/frame exactly what you want and print only the shots you really like. I love this printer. Right now, Amazon sells a 50 pack of the Canon 4x6 photo paper plus for just under 8 bucks with free super saver shipping on twenty-five dollar orders. In addition, consider that this printer has separate ink cartridges and relatively cheap ink prices and you can't go wrong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great all-around printer
I've had my i560 for about a week, and so far, it's the best printer I've ever had. Installation of the ink and printhead was a snap. It is extremely quiet and smooth, and had a much smaller footprint than my old Epson. It prints fairly quickly in color, extraordinarily quick in black & white. Color prints on the included Canon photo gloss paper look like they're straight from the photo lab. On plain paper, the prints are sharper than I expected, and the inks are sometimes shockingly bright, even without the image enhancement features of the Canon printing software turned on.

I replaced my old Epson 980 because it seemed destined to develop clogged jets every five minutes. Two weeks ago, I tried to print just a single page, but after ten cleanings, I still couldn't get a solid print, so I hunkered down and ordered this baby. I was tempted to just get a new Epson, but after reading some reviews of the current crop, it seemed the problem is an epidemic with all models, even the newest ones. Conversely, everybody I've ever known who's had a Canon printer loves it. I was also tempted to get one of the higher end, six-color Canon photo printers. But I opted to save a few bucks and go with the i560 instead. I honestly can't imagine that the more expensive Canons could do much better!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Value I've Found
For speed, print quality, quiet operation, long ink cartridge life, and versitility this bets the Epson, HP, Lexmark, and Panasonic competition by far. I've been using the i560 for 11 months and have no complaints. I sold all my other printers at a yard sale last spring and haven't missed any of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars You cant do better for your money
My last printer from a few years back was an Epson. At first the printer was good then there was the dreaded clogged print head which frequent Epson printers. After that I swore that my next printer would have the option of replacing the print head. Fast forward a few years forward and I purchased the i560 with complete budget on mind. I wasnt expecting anything other than an average printer, when I began using the unit I found that its more than an average printer.

Good:
Borderless printing on glossy paper is amazing with this unit even at 8x11.5 paper. The printer has a decent build and the seperate color tanks is a fantastic. Text printing has been the majority of the printing use for this unit but photos from my 2MP camera look amazing on the 4x5 photo plus paper.

Bad:
As with any product you can find flaws. Borderless prints will have a very thin line (as thin as a strand of fine hair) at the bottom of the print. This is mostly noticable if your looking for it and if its on black. From what I understand when printing photos it doesnt use the black ink but the combination of the 3 colors to produce black.

In either cases these are not major issues and shouldnt stop anyone from purchasing this unit if your in the sub 100 range for a printer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little printer
I just bought this and I am really impressed. I have used only Epson printers before this and finally dumped them because the print heads always jammed or it ran out of ink after having to repeatedly clean the heads. I came to a point where I needed a new ink cartridge for my Epson 785EPX and they were $50 for 2 at CostCo OR I could buy a new Canon i560s for $80 and ink is only $30 for 2 (all CostCo prices). Well I bought the Canon and will never go back to Epson.

First, the Canon has a replaceable print head. So if it every wears out or gets clogged you can replace the print head and don't have to toss the whole printer. 2nd, its very quiet - much, much less noisy than that my Epsons. 3rd, the print quality is very, very good. B&W text is laser quality but print speed seemed a little slow (maybe I had it on high quality). Color images print surprisingly fast - faster than on the Epson and Web pages with mixed text and colored items print extremely quickly. 4th, I agree with another reviewer who says the ink cartridges don't have chips in them. So I assume that this printer will continue to let you print if one tank is out of ink. The most annoying thing with Epson is that if you are out of color ink, the printer will not print - not even B&W text until you replace the color ink! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Small, Convenient, Works Great!!
The Canon BJC-85 is a small, lightweight printer that is easy to pack and works wonderfully well. It has both parallel and USB connections for PC's or MAC's. The quality of the black text printing is very good - especially when you consider the small size and light weight of this printer. The color printing is also amazingly good. The software loads easily, and I had mine up and running in a matter of minutes attached to my laptop. You'll need to buy either a parallel or USB cable, since it isn't included. Canon has the best reputation, by far, of all the brands who make portable printers and this is their newest model. This is really a terrific little printer that is well worth the price for people on the road who need to print from their laptops.

4-0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for..
This printer is a convenient size for someone with limited desk space or for taking it with you when traveling. The battery pak mentioned that can be used with this printer is available through DELL. It may take a bit of searching to find it. Click on Printers, then look for the Canon BJC-85, then click on more details under the printer icon, then related products on the next screen. It does not state for BJC-85 but it is the correct battery pack or ask Dell for reassurance, I did! I have been very pleased with the print quality of such a small printer, even the graphics are great. For Word Processing that requires mostly black ink, use the large BCI-10 Ink Cartridge it is better than the small black tank you use with color printing. I have not been able to locate the Infrared Driver for it does anyone know where that can be acquired? I am more than pleased with this quality and size of this printer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Print Word Documents From Your Palm
If you add DataVid's Documents To Go 4.0 (available from Amazon) to your Palm; and if you also add Docs To Print and IR Print (available from doctoprint.irprint.com); you can then -- work on -- and print MS Word files from your Palm to the Canon BJC-85 via IR (infrared) -- no cords or PC required.

The printing I get when using my Palm and Canon BJC-85 isn't letter quality. But the Canon BJC line of printers are the smallest, most portable letter-size printers available today. And being able to -- work on -- and print MS Word presentations and proposals from my Palm while on the road is extremely convenient.

(The above software combination, incidentally, will enable you to also print to other IR capable printers such as desktop models from HP and portable A6 paper-size units from Sipix.)

The BJC-85 also provides the option of swapping out the color cartridge -- and replacing it with a much larger black cartridge -- which is very helpful, especially since the ink capacity on this printer is quite limited.

(As a watch-out: be sure to aim your Palm at the Canon BJC-85's IR port from at least seven inches away, otherwise the connection won't be made. I learned this after e-mailing someone at Docs To Print, who was most helpful.)

Being able to print letter-size documents on the road directly from my Palm is another good reason to leave my heavy laptop computer -- at home -- where it belongs!

3-0 out of 5 stars Poor paper feed
I have owned BJC 70 and BJC 80. Both have difficulty feeding automatically. I have had to guide each single piece of paper in order for the feed to catch.

I have also gone through a power supply. Currently my power button is not operating and cannot turn on.

I paid the high price of $300 for dependabilty thinking that it was reliable but the variety of mechanical failures have caused me to look for another brand name. I do love the portability design, but I guess design does not equate with dependability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, with one discrepancy (sp?)
This is a good quality printer. I like it. There's only one thing I don't like. The ink tanks (cartridges) are small. It seems like I'm always putting in a new one. And of course, they have to have all three colors in one tank so that the remaining ink of the other two colors gets wasted. At least the tanks are cheap. ... Read more

This comes highly recommended. However, print your most important pictures at the beginning of the cartridge, because as it runs down, the picture quality decreases.

This paper print set gives you glossy and smooth prints that look just like a photo you get from the lab. Since the process is dye-sublimination, you don't get those ink jet spots, and smearing that you get even from the finest photo printers. The cartridge is easily slipped into the printer, and the paper put in the paper tray. After three passes, yellow, red, blue, you get an extremely nice snapshot to pass out. I'm so glad that Amazon decided to carry this product, as I was worried after buying my CP100 that I would not be able to find the paper. 5-0 out of 5 stars Professional Quality Photos
I love having my own photo lab at home! This printer is simply fantastic and produces photos that look great. In fact, I can hardly tell the difference from the photos printed with my CP-330 and the ones I've had professionally developed. Photos come out incredibly sharp and colorful.

My favorite feature on this printer is the fact that I can plug my camera directly into it to print a photo that was taken mere moments before. It is so much fun to take photos and then almost immediately be able to have and share a print of it.

If you are looking for an easy to use, high quality photo printer, this would be the perfect choice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good little printer!
I like the clear protective coating on the paper. Seems to be waterproof, which I can't say for the other brand of printer that I looked at. I wish it were easier to find the sizes of paper other than 4x6, though, especially since the printer comes with a 4x8 tray. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good camcorder for the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure what the reviewer below is talking about but based on his lack of details I imagine it's not a genuine review.

Anyway, I spent allot of time researching before buying a camcorder and decided on the Elura 65 -- check out the review of the Elura 70 (the 60, 65, and 70 are basically identical) on http://www.dvspot.com .

The Elura 60 didn't have a hot shoe which I knew I would need since most camcorders in this price range do not have a good light -- if any at all. Daytime recording is excellent.

Some argue that it's only a single CCD camcorder but it's a large CCD as apposed to the three small CCDs in the Panasonic PV-GS120. The Panasonic was my second choice but I read allot of negative reviews about the image stabilization. The Elura also fits more comfortably in the hand when compared to Panasonic. In addition, the Canon has virtually no tape noise when operating.

I highly suggest that you get the double capacity battery BP-2L14, the hot shoe light VL-3, and the portable battery charger CB-2LT. The double capacity battery will last about four hours and adds very little weight to the camera. The supplied batteries drain very quickly. Night shots are notoriously bad for all camcorders in this price range even though some are better than others. The VL-3 light will make a big difference in picture quality at night. Also, the portable charger is more convenient to travel with than the big and cumbersome charger supplied in the box.

I can't comment about the reliability yet since I've only had it for a couple of months. But based on my experience with other Canon products it should be good. Enjoy!

1-0 out of 5 stars Never buy canon DV again
Bought one from dell.com, after one day test with this "high" rated DV, decided to return it back. It's a horrible canon DV.
Pros:
None
Cons:
1. Very bad resolution of recording on SD card, even worse than my cheap webcam.
2. Unaccept noisy while recording tape.
3. Compare to USB stream or usb mode webcam, DV messager is a joke function, hard to use and bad compatibility.
4. Light shoot is another joke from canon DV.

5-0 out of 5 stars The winner!!
Well, choosing between the cameras, and after going for MVX250i (European twin for Elura 70, as I live in Europe), I'd like to point out some really strong sides of the cam: 16:9 is really WIDER than 4:3 (not just cutting upper & lower parts only) and is taking full advantage of 1.3 MPixel CCD, which btw, let's the stills be captured to SD card in 1280*960 res.. not bad at all for screen viewing. The optics are absolutely superior in its class, the angle for close-ups IS wide and the optical zoom is remarkable. It HAS mike input, unlike new ZR series (which I was considering at some point), and the motor is much quieter also, comparing to ZR. Its shape & size is excellent, it feels solid and is really comfortable to held - thanks to the low height. On table it may seem somehow thick, but to palm it fits perfectly.
If to mention one con, then in lower light conditions the cam tends to boost the sensitivity of the CCD too much, making picture quite grainy. Also, any faster movement in dark will result in blurry picture. The built in white LED sure does its job well, but the sand in the picture remains... So you'll get some of the advertised colours with the price of noise, the opposite of Sony's night-mode. Sure you can attach external lamp any time ..
As a conclusion, it seems there is no other cam offering this level of features & design at this price.. at the moment. If you are looking for something small & capable, this is it. Absolutely no regrets so far..

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Choice
You can find a full review + users opinions on the Elura 70 at www.camcorderinfo.com.
I bought mine at another vendor's site, after carefull research.
Let's just say I consider it the Top Choice for the entry level digital video fan.
Canon is scoring a hit with this year's line of Eluras. In fact, they have announced they even are pulling out of the analog camcorder bussines.
In my opinion the Elura 70 offers the best package of features and characteristics, compared to the other brand's models on its category (under $1K) ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Whether you are sitting in the nosebleed seats of a stadium or an opera house, with Canon's 8 x 25 IS binoculars you'll get an outstanding close-up view of the action. The binoculars are designed to fit perfectly in your hands and have a rubber coating for nonslip grip and protection from damage. The focus dial is center-mounted and the image stabilizer controls are easily accessible from either hand. Canon's optical image stabilization technology eliminates shake and reduces curvature of field. The image stabilizer operates with two AA batteries. A BP-B1 battery pack is included. The lenses are coated with Super Spectra multicoating that improves image quality by maximizing contrast and minimizing color smear.

Super Spectra Coating
A number of optical factors affect the brightness of an image, including the amount of incidental light that is reflected by the lens. An uncoated lens will refelect away as much as 8% of the incidentail light, significantly dimming the image. Canon's Super Spectra Coating prevents that reflection.

5-0 out of 5 stars They beat Leica 8X32's
Oh, man. I worked eBay, finally got myself a pair of the vaunted Leica 8X32 roofs at a decent price. And splendid binoculars they are. Excellent.

Then Canon comes out with these IS 8X25's. I already had the 12X36 jobs, wonderful and bulky. HAD to have the 8X25's.

Here's the deal. Serious binocular users know "Better view Desired" http://www.betterviewdesired.com/

I used a casual version of his NEED test.

The $300 canon IS 8X25's beat the $500 Leica 8X32's all hollow on any measure of hand-held resolution. HAND-HELD. On a rest, the Leicas showed their precision optics. Hand held, the Canon's were far better.

There ya be, friends. Image stabilization RULES.

5-0 out of 5 stars Viewing Power per Dollar - Second to None!
I have to give these binoculars 5 stars, not because they are the finest optics money can buy, but because they give the clearest and steadiest handheld viewing you can get at anywhere near this price. Value for the money is the point, here. But, besides value, they actually are very good quality optics! They feel well made. Although they are mostly plastic, it's good quality material, they don't feel cheesy. No, they are not built like a Leica tank (intended to survive an atomic blast), but the image stabilization is so amazing, I am willing to be a little extra careful with them. You look through them and press that button, and, PRESTO, the view just stops jiggling! It's just fantastic! The I.S. has greatly improved my stargazing pleasure. Maybe I have especially bad hand tremor, but I would bet anybody would notice a big difference. I really love them!!

4-0 out of 5 stars You can't pound tent pegs with them.
They are, and they aren't, great binocs

What they are: as it says, the lightest and least expensive IS binoculars on the market (right now). The optics themselves are only merely very good, but - HAND HELD - with the IS activated, they allow me to read fine print about 20% closer than with my Leica 8x32 Ultras. On a rest, the Leicas are superior. It's the elimination of the jiggles - the 8x25 Canons don't give an image that's as bright and contrasty as those high dollar Leicas, but the steadier image more than makes up for that.

What they aren't: waterproof or armored. So have a care if you use them in conditions of rain or dust. They're much more complicated than simple binocs, with electric circuits inside, and the matter of reliability does come into consideration - but in the first year, they've survived life in the tote bag ,bouncing along dirt roads without a hiccup. Two more things: besides armoring and ruggedizing, Canon had to compromise _somewhere_ to make them this small. So, while the IS deals well with rapid human shaking. it doesn't seem to correct at all for slow motions. I imagine the engineers were forcd to leave off the sensors for slow motions, to fit everything else in. And, they use CR123 batteries, more expensive and harder to find in a pinch than AA batteries. Of course, if the batteries run dead, all your are left with is a functional set of very good, if a bit bulky, 8x25 binocs. What Canon has created is $300 binoculars that - hand held, with the IS active - outperform my high dollar Leica 8x32 Ultras. And, I imagine, the Nikon SE's, too. No kidding. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Canon has once again raised the bar in the world of 35mm SLRs with its EOS Rebel Ti. Canon claims the Rebel Ti has the fastest autofocus (AF) in its class, which should increase accuracy and precision for shooting at a real-life pace. A built-in flash pops up easily for shooting in low-light situations, and its extended arm reduces red-eye effect. The included EF 28-90mm f4-f5.6 standard zoom lens is an ideal all-around lens for wide angle to medium telephoto photography.

Fast, accurate, and flexible, Rebel Ti's three autofocus systems (the camera chooses the best one automatically) free you to concentrate on your composition and to just have fun. Seven focusing points cover an area wider than any other camera in its class, letting you place your subject off-center or even focus on the area covered by multiple focus points.

The glare-free laser matte viewfinder displays seven wide-area focusing points, which are clearly superimposed to guide composition. There's also a dioptric adjustment so that prescription glasses can be removed for up-close comfort. The extralarge LCD panel is illuminated for clear viewing whatever the lighting conditions.

You can rely on Rebel Ti's automatic exposure system for professional results, but the camera's special exposure controls give you lots of room for experimentation. With the camera's multiple exposure control, you can place up to nine images in a single frame for impressive surrealistic compositions.

Shooting feels natural because the shutter button, AF point selector, main dial, command dial, and even the LCD panel's buttons are all within reach for one-handed operation. The command dial has seven preset image controls for work in various common shooting situations.

The lens mount is solid stainless steel to handle Canon's full line of world-renowned lenses. A built-in, automatic pop-up flash eliminates guesswork. It recycles for action quickly, and with a red-eye reduction lamp built right in, images are natural and flattering. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera for the price.
I got this camera for christmas last year and was immediately impressed at how easy it was to use. I've had a few months now to try out all the features and can honestly say the auto-focus modes are a lifesaver. When your just a beginning photographer they come in very handy. It gives you more freedom to concentrate on what you are taking the picture of. Even beyond the beginner stage it allows you to catch people or places in the momment without worrying about your camera settings. Capturing real emotion when it happens is one of the most important things anyways. Isn't it?
Anyway, five auto-focus modes(of which the auto-focus is extremly fast), and five user-defined modes(for those of us who are more experienced) cover pretty much any situation you will ever encounter. Very light weight. I shot a wedding the other day(the pics came out amazing without any filters or extra flashes) and never got tired of having it around my neck. Its got plenty of other great features too(red eye reduction, ect.). Check out the specs.
Bottom line is that its a great camera for anyone from beginner to semi-professional, and for the price its a great deal. Plus its a very good looking camera.
The only thing I would recomend is upgrading the lens at some time, because the 28-90mm lens requires me to get a little too close to my subjects. Thats just a personal preference though.
Great deal for a great camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eeeeeexcellehnt
I really enjoy this camera.

Very ergonomic, completely flexible, full of features (including auto-bracketing, multi-frame advance, pre-programmed settings for typical scenes (night, portrait, etc.), manual modes), good flash, 28-90mm zoom, easy to read lcd screen on the back. To top it all off it's a VERY light load, yet sturdy!

And most importantly, the pictures are absolutely beautiful.

If you're serious about learning real photography at any pace, pick this thing up. You'll feel like a dog who just walked into a meat plant.

1-0 out of 5 stars My camera dont work
I have purchased this camera and it stop of working after 3 months, (I wrote The first review on amazon for this camera) I have lost my money :(

5-0 out of 5 stars Totally satisfied with this setup.
I purchased my canon Rebel Ti with the 28-90 lens from
Wolf Camera in Charlotte, NC and I have been very happy with it. Previously I have owned and still own and use two different models of Minoltas, an XP-700 and a 400Si. I operate a small one man photography busines from my home and all three of these camera get a real workout. The canon is the new top of the hill user camera for me at this time. I just need to add a new lens in the 28-200 range to extend the versitility of this unit. Wayne Shook dba commoncentsphoto@conninc.com

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Scanner For The Amateur Photographer
I just purchased this scanner to replace a slow, unwieldy HP 5300C. After 1 week, here's what I think.
===============================================================
PROs:

1. Slim form factor.
2. Good quality photograph scans. Maybe not for a professional, but for us amateurs, it rocks!
3. Very quick scanning
4. Negative scannning possible with included adapter.
5. Canoscan software definitely a cut above the norm
6. Windows XP installation is fast and simple.
-->a. Install Canoscan Drivers and software, reboot THEN
-->b. plug scanner into nearest HighSpeed USB (USB 2.0) port
-->c. You're good to go!
7. Full Photoshop Elements 2.0 included
================================================================
CONs:

1. A bit noisy
2. Some software supplied as "SE" or limited versions
3. Scanning Kodak APS film pictures can be tricky due to the
nonstandard print sizes.
================================================================
A final piece of advice - make sure you acquire the latest Canon software from the Canon, USA website.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fast and Convenient
The Canoscan LiDE 80 is easy to use for a variety of applications and the USB Hi-Speed (no longer USB2) interface is super fast and convenient since it not only is the data link, but supplies power to the scanner. If your power hub is as congested as mine, you'll appreciate this bonus. The LiDE 80 comes standard with a film adapter unit so you can scan 35 mm film or unmounted slide film. although the literature claims the film scanner runs at 2400 x 4800 DPI, I don't buy it. My Nikon fim scanner is 2900 DPI and gives MUCH better scans of 35 mm film. No contest. Then again, it was quite a bit more (4X)expensive than the LiDE 80 and only scans film...

The LiDE 80 includes software for automatic retouching of scratches and dust - and it also now has grain and fading correction. I tried these features on color photos taken over 50 years ago and was pleasantly surprised with the results. Overall, this is a nice package that goes well beyond the typical bargain scanner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great and Easy to use.
Old scanner(4yrs. and it died) was a general HP not for pic's or slides. Decided I want to copy my pic's & slides onto CD. This scanner works great with a great price. And it has a nice software package. Cannot compare to a high price scanner but I am very pleased the the results that I am getting from my pic's, old negatives and slides. I am using the software with W98SE and I have the scanner plugged into a Belkin hup. I also have the Canon printer i860 which does very nice pic's.

5-0 out of 5 stars easy for computer dummies like me
Short and sweet I'm just a guy with a computer no fancy computer job no fancy education in computers. I read the manuals but they are not my cup of tea. This scanner took me about 2 days to really get the hang of it. Which was a short time compared to what most of this stuff takes for me. If your like me just go to cannon on your menu open canno scan tool box, click save and start there.

4-0 out of 5 stars Re:- Using 4-hub USB adaptor
I plugged my LiDE 80 into a cheap 4-hub USB adaptor and it is producing excellent quality scans.
My only reservation is that scanning via the single-touch button produces a reddish tinge, whereas scans to the computer seldom needs adjustment, but if they do, the desired result is easily obtained via Adobe 2.0 (supplied with the scanner).
Hope this helps! ... Read more
