5-0 out of 5 stars Good binoculars, bad strap, good sunglasses
I am happy with this set. The binoculars are good, but the strap for them is a thin cheap plastic thing, I would like to find a replacement for the strap. The sunglasses are retail boxed "Bolle Piraja" model: included with there own soft neoprane case and cleaning cloth. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent inexpensive binocular
These binoculars perform very well during daytime and are good for the occasional birdwatcher or for viewing any outdoor event. The light weight and the insta-focus make them very easy to use. I bought them for stargazing (very tight budget!) and I am very satisfied with them giving what I paid. I have been able to locate and clearly see many Messier objects (ie. M22, M13, M11, M3, M5 and the great Andromeda Galaxy M31, and many star clusters such as M39 and the coathanger) and double stars with the Falcons, and they give a nice view of the summer milky way although the view is not very bright since the Falcons are not multicoated, but for [money] you really can't ask much. Overall, excellent value. Buy the Falcons and Terence Dickinson's 'Nightwatch' ('Turn Left at Orion' is another good one) and you can get into backyard astronomy ...

4-0 out of 5 stars Well Worth the cost
I am a rookie bird-watcher and I would recommend this pair of binoculars for bird-watching/binocular astronomy. It can be used to track birds in flight with comparitive ease, and this is a big plus. The insta-focus is a nice concept, especially in winter when the standard knob that binoculars usually have, is a nuisance. The weight, too, is quite manageable.

I found this adequate for most birding, except for things like identifing small birds in dim light. For this, a 7x binoculars is what is usually recommended. But, this binoculars is a happy middle-path if you are also considering some binocular astronomy, since the aperture size is good.

However, there was a great deal of misting over of the lens, in damp conditions (in my case, on the Applachian trail in Tennessee). This might be a detriment in wet weather birding (waders?). Also, the shoulder strap is quite thin.

Overall, a good buy considering the low cost.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price
The first piece I got was slightly defective, one of the objective lenses unscrewed very easily. Further, the left and right were not aligned perfectly. Probably a refurbished piece.
On the positive side, I got a free replacement, and the new one is in good shape. 8X-10X magnification is about the maximum one can go without using a tripod or some other stabilizer. This pair of nocks seems to have hit a good sweet spot in terms of specifications. It has a very clear picture, negligible color fringing, and the 50mm objective makes is very good for low-light viewing - focus on any patch of clear night sky, and you can see dozens of stars.
I would have rated it 5 stars if my first shipment was not defective.

5-0 out of 5 stars I like 'em
I bought these on sale for $27 with free shipping. I've wanted a pair of nocks for bird-watching and hockey viewing from the cheap seats. I am impressed, I like the fast focus, I like the contrast and balance. If I knew someone needing a birthday present, this would be a great gift for them. My expectations were exceeded. I hope you enjoy them like I have. Comes with a vinyl case, lens cloth, manual, strap, and lens covers. Yeah, the lens covers are black plastic press-on, but other bushnell nocks I've seen use the same caps. I think these will please you, and $27 is a fine price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Adjustable Focus Auto-Adjusts
These binoculars come with an "Insta-Focus" focusing lever. Unfortunately, the lever is heavy enough that it will drift away from where you set it. Thus, you must constantly re-focus these binoulars.

Additionally, these binoculars did not ship in the advertised 24 hours. They shipped in 16 days. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This is pretty great!
I think this telescope is pretty great because it has equatorial mount and manufactured by a company that is expert on telescopes (so you can trust it). But it is not so good because of its weight (246 pounds). Equatorial mount is a type of mounting the compensate the Earth's rotation, making the telescope easier to follow the objects in the sky. It's also a reflector, my favorite type of telescope between the two main types of optical telescopes (reflector and relractor). It's excellent for observing very faint objects, such as nubulas. Most refractors cannot observe these faint objects because it's lens absorb precious light. However, reflecters use mirrors and mirrors reflect light instead aborbing it. I recommend this telescope for begininers, intermediate, and between intermediate and experts. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice Scope, poor Tripod.
Your looking at trhis scope because you want big apature with GOTO technology and your poor. I aquired this scope from a friend of mine (NIB). It was easy to put together and within an hour I had the finder scope aligned and was off! All in all the optics are great, Jupiters moons were visable and I counted 5 stripes.
As for the Goto tripod I'd have to say PASS! They realy went cheap when designing the tripod to go with there computer. The little (tiny!) electric motor has trouble slewing between stars directly over head.
Id recomend it for beginers that arent sure if Astronomy is going to be there thing yet. When your ready to upgrade, buy a Meade ETX-125EC w/AutoStar and you'll be the envy of all your friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Scope
To bad about the previous reviewer. My experience has been just the opposite. The scope was easy to assemble and once aligned (only moderately tricky) it worked like a gem. I am able to see many stars and nebula in the city, but when I'm out in more rural areas with less light polution the stars come alive!!! This is great for a beginner!!! And is easy to align on deep space objects without being a pro!! I love it, the only downside is that I am so tired in the morning for work!!!! Buy this baby if you're on a budget but want high quality experiences with the stars!

1-0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment.
I was so looking forward to it. Then this. The star locating computer simply refuses to be turned on. After hundreds of tries it was on once. Then I turned it off. And then it couldn't be turned on again. What a joke. Don't they have any QC? I have to call tomorrow and hopefully I can exchange one that works. Let see if they have better customer service than QC. ... Read more
