3-0 out of 5 stars Just got it
I just got this camera last night -- so far it seems very simple to operate. The features are many but the buttons are easy to understand. There's no lag when you snap the picture it takes right away. The timer has a 12 second delay and the other cameras I looked at only had 10. I haven't had the roll developed yet --but if the picture quality is as wonderful as this camera is to operate I've found a winner!

Well, I just like the camera. It's got excellent looks. It's really compact and has great features. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A very handy camera
I purchased this camera because I wanted a small camera to take with me on rainy days or when I did not want to carry around my Pentax P3 or my Nikon FG-20 and various lens. I was skeptical about how well this camera would meet my diserning eye, but I thought for the price, and that it had been refurbished, it was worth a try. My husband and I went to Harper's Ferry for our honeymoon and spent 2 days taking pictures by the two rivers and of the church. Because of the heat, I opted to leave my good cameras behind and just take this little Olympus, knowing this would be a once in a life time opportunity and that camera needed to do well! When we got the prints back, and it really makes a difference where you get your photos developed!, the quality and clarity of the photos were excellent. I really do enjoy having a small camera so I able to relax and enjoy the hike and also trust that my photos will be clear and sharp. I am pleased with the one that I have purchased.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad choice
I have always heard good things about the Olympus brand so I assumed when I bought this camera that I would be happy with it. Three weeks after purchasing it the zoom quit working. I called the Olympus customer service but I found then very unhelpful. I brought it back to the store and exchanged it for a new one of the exact same model. I immediatly put batteries in and tried it out but this one was broke too with the same problem! So, two cameras in a row were broke, one after three weeks, one already when I purchased it. I finally took it back to the store and exchanged it for a different brand of camera. I'm not impressed with this camera!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great camera
I recieved this camera for Christmas, and have had the opportunity to use it in diverse situations. Consistent with my experience with Olympus products, it is easy to use and takes sharp, well exposed pictures. Olympus is known for making sharp lenses, even in lower priced cameras, and this one doesn't dissapoint. It is bigger than many other point and shoot cameras, but I prefer having something a little bigger. There have been some complaints about the date imprinting, I also don't like it, but it can be turned off. Read the instruction manual, it's not hard to do.
The only compliant I have is that the lens is quite slow. With ISO 100 film, the flash comes on in all but the brightest sunlight. ISO 400 film is recommended. However, this problem goes with the territory in point and shoots with zoom lenses, and to fix it would greatly increase the size, weight and cost of the camera.
The exposure system is accurate, the only problem I had was in Death Valley, taking a picture at Badwater, all the white salt fooled the exposure system into underexposing the picture, but it was still well within the exposure latitude of the film.
I haven't replaced the original battery in this camera, which is even more impressive in that I took the battery out of another camera which broke. Point and shoots eat batteries for breakfast, this one seems to do quite well in the battery life department. ...
In short, if you're looking for a zoom lens point and shoot, prefer something on the larger size, ... you can't go wrong with this camera. Good features, great pictures, and Olympus quality.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Camera 4 the $$
Easy to use - Great Pictures ! I've used autofocus and manual focus cameras for years and have found this to be the best of the lot, for ease of use and quality of pictures.

I suggest using the 400 speed film for in & outdoor shots, as the autofocus feature seems to like that best.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent little camrea for the price
This camera is not outstanding, but does have some nice features. I have had the most success with taking pictures using natural light. If you take most of your pictures outside, this would be a good camera.

The different flash settings are nice and the red eye reduction works well. But, I've had trouble in general with using the flash in very dim settings. The background often comes out looking totally dark.

I hate pictures that have the digital date stamped on them in the corner. This camera does that, but that option works off its own battery, not the main camera battery. I just took out the little battery and the pictures come out plain.

Another thing I like is that it will not allow you to take the picture if it is out of focus. A light flashes on the inside of the viewfinder it's not focused. Then, you know you need to back up or re-adust your aim. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Cool Beans
I just opened the camera package last night, and within acouple of hours I was experimenting with most of the features of thecamera. When people talk of digital cameras they love to talk numbers, but who cares? It's what you can do with it that matters. I took a picture of a dark hallway with the flourecent bathroom lights on, and it looked like something out of The Shining. It was dark and foggy outside, but with the aperture full open, ISO 400, and the shutter open for 8 seconds I was able to take pictures of the buildings and night lights. The camera is so light I didn't have to use a stand (at 8 seconds you have to be as steady as a sharpshooter, though... be sure to hold our breath). Using the flash, with the spot metering and the aperture closed I was able to take a crisp, detailed picture of our dog in the midst of the night, doing dog things. With the multiple picture thing I took 5 pictures of my friend in a row waving his arms, and the sequence of where his arm is going is clear when viewing the 9 pictures at one time from the LCD. I'm also going to throw out my slow ... scanner, which I was using for sending faxes. I took a picture of a page from Webster's collegiate dictionary, and it was readable from the LCD!

Make no mistake, this is not a replacement for an analog camera. The casing and the interface feel like a cheap digital camera. I think, however, that in many ways this is better than an analog camera. You can do the things that are possible with an analog camera (except maybe for star trails), but with greater simplicity. And you get instant feedback.

If you are a journalist, claims investigator, or web publisher, and you have some basic knowledge of analog photography (...), this is definitely the camera for you. I recommend you get the ATA adapter so you won't have to mess with stupid cables or limited software.

Gotta go take some more pictures....

5-0 out of 5 stars This camera is simply amazing
I love this this camera. The pictures quality is excellent. The ease of use is 5 star. It comes with 32Meg flash, it's good for 50 pictures. Has easy dial for auto, semi-auto and manual modes. I took 50 pictures first day I got it. All 50 were excellent quality, compare to my "old" sony PC1 digital video recorder. Down load to my portable is easy with compact flash, if you don't forget to put 2 batteries included with compact flash. Camera also comes with batteries, and recharger.

Overall excellent, 5Star I am very happy with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Seeing Is Believing
If your into computers and you'd like to integrate your photography into your computer world this is definitely the camera for you. If you already know how to use a 35mm SLR you'll find learning how to use most of this camera fairly easy. It has an auto mode that makes it possible for anybody to use and it has some manual modes that I've not yet totally conquered. It has enough pixels to blow your mind most of the time. You can't buy a monitor big enough to view the shots in SHQ mode all at one time with your browser.

You can change pixel density on the fly. You change the effective film speed in steps of 100, 200 and 400 ASA. You can vary your exposure plus or minus 2 fstops in 1/3 fstop increments. You can focus down to 0.8 inches and set it at infinity. You can get 150 or 200 shots out of a set of batteries. You can put on a slide show into a standard TV set right from your camera. You can take great remote control shots without even touching the camera or a cable. You can view your pictures on sight and zoom in to see quite good detail right on the camera. The controls are easy to use and and very ergonomically designed. You can delete pictures. You can transfer pictures from a smart media card to a compact flash card for extra storage. You can run off of AC power (I never do). The built flash works okay but the red eye feature sucks. You can use averaging or spot meter mode for exposure calculation.

It's really nice to have a laptop computer with a PCMCIA card in it. When you fill up a smart media card you can stick it into the PCMCIA card and the computer see's it as an extra drive on your machine with all of your JPEG files readily accessible. I normally put my laptop on my network and drag and drop all of the files on to a CD Burner in Adaptec mode. I've used the serial port adaptor but it's very slow and anybody who spent this much money for the camera probably wont tolerate such bad performance for long.

Don't spend all of your money buying this camera. Buy 3 sets of batteries. (3 hour charge time) and the PCMCIA card adapter (much faster and hot plugable). Get a CD Burner for your computer. I have a friend that has an HP for his laptop...He doesn't like. I have an HP and a Sony for two of my desktops and I like them both. I've had the camera for about 3 months now and I've taken about 2000 shots with it. I'm on my second CD. One day at work I spent the whole day taking pictures of old photographs on the wall to send to a guy at a trade show.

The CAMEDIA software is simple but very useful. It's good at renaming your shots in batch mode and it has a good browser mode for previewing new shots. The Adobe Photo deluxe is tolerable but slow. I've purchased Print Shot Pro and I like it a lot more. It's also good to have Image Robot and Smart Media Center as well (all from Jasc software). Smart Media Center has a feature that creates a HTML environment that allows you to create photo albums viewable totally by your browser. It's great for sending photo CD's to your friends and family. If you want to see some photos I've made go to http://www.studioavenue.com and search on for the album named "Singing Youth of Denver at Dahlia Street".

A lot of people have asked me the price of the camera and I've told them. However, the real price involves a lot more. You need to have some computer power available to you. You need to not be afraid of the technology. Installing a PCMCIA card is easy for me but my father would not have done it. This camera will force most people who purchase it to learn some new things and if they do so willingly then they will enjoy the experience. If you must see your pictures on paper (I don't) then be prepared for some additional cost. Your average printer will not do that great of a job.

I've been waiting for a digital camera of this performance for a couple of years and it's been worth the wait. I suspect that in five years everyone will have a camera like this. This is the perfect camera for a CEO. You can take useable pictures of anything and view them anyware with your laptop.

5-0 out of 5 stars My SLR feels lonely
I purchased my C-2500 before Christmas and haven't any regrets . Using it is much more of a breeze then I have read in the reviews. Now I send family or customers photos that are so nicely done that they always think they are 35mm. I print them out on my HP-1100 printer. What a great pair. I purchased readers, But really never use or hassle with them . I think both the camera & printer, together are what really increases the enjoyment. I also have both lenses and the flash attachment. Lenses are worth it, but haven't mastered the flash settings yet.The investment was hard but has paid me back already.

4-0 out of 5 stars From a professional Photographer
I have been using an Olympus C2500L for two months, and it has helped me take numerous photos that I wouldn't have bothered to take otherwise. I like the fact that a digital camera allows editing on the spot, so I don't take any duds home with me.

It comes with a 32mb Smart Media card, and I bought a 32 mb Flash Card to have more capacity. I'm getting another Smart Media card for a spare. They seem expensive at first, but ten rolls of slide film cost $ 90, plus another $ 90 in processing, and you can't reuse film.

I bought a Flashpath floppy disk adapter, which is faster than the cable to download photos, but kind of buggy with my Macs. I'm not really satisfied with it. It may work better with PCs. I am now thinking about using a USB download device that accepts both Smart Media and Flash Cards.

The camera is useful with external flash, with some tweaking and experimenting, but not for professional studio flash systems. The built in flash is mainly good for fill-in.

Buy an extra set of the NiMh batteries (it can use alkalines in a pinch, but it quickly drains them) so you'll have a spare ready to use, and you'll also need the AC adapter (which I wish was included in the camera price) to use during downloads and TV viewing of your photos.

I have not tried the adapter lenses and dedicated flash yet, so I can't comment on the system.

This camera is capable of taking photos more than good enough for web sites, and good enough for newspaper publication. The professional alternatives, which use interchangeable lenses, cost three times as much. This is designed with a closed zoom lens, which is good because no dust gets inside it. I recommend getting a step-up ring and fitting a lens hood for better photos, or a Uv or skylight filter to protect against water and dog slobber, if you prefer.

This is a great system if you like tweaking your photos and retouching them in your computer, especially if you don't own a conventional darkroom. The Photoshop Light and Olympus Camedia software that come with the camera give you many choices for editing, retouching, and storing your photos.

The Olumpus C2500L has a good optical zoom lens, and it's fun and handy to use. I'm glad I got one. I think it will be as good as we can get for awhile, and I recommend getting a CD burner to store all your new photos. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BIG bang for your buck!
After considerable research, I decided on the Olympus Camedia D-510Zoom for my first "real" digital camera. I couldn't be more pleased with the ease of use (considering the deep menu which is somewhat intuitive for a technophile), long list of cool features/controls, and excellent image quality. Although you can start taking pics immediately with the quick-start guide, TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE FULL MANUAL ON THE CD and practice!

The video clip and panoramic features are very fun toys/tools and proved to be much better quality than I expected. The Camedia software effortlessly stitches up to ten pics together for interesting panoramic shots and the video feature saves short silent clips in Quicktime MOV format. I would recommend spending the extra ten bucks or so on an Olympus-brand SmartMedia card with the panoramic code for your first or second large-capacity card (since the card that comes with the camera is only 8MB and other brand cards don't have the proprietary panorama code that works with the software.)

My camera says it will shoot about 22 pictures in the highest TIF resolution (1600x1200) and 1300 pictures in the lowest JPG resolution (640x480) on a 128MB card. The highest JPG resolution (SHQ at 1600x1200 w/minimal compression) is where I keep mine set most of the time and I get about 90 shots per 128MB card. The default JPG setting (HQ at 1600x1200 w/medium compression) gets about 230 shots per 128MB.

As with any zoom camera I've ever used, you need to keep the camera still or your image will blur. Use a tripod as often as you can, particularly for zooming, night shots and definitely for panoramic shots. The 3x optical zoom is nice but it will not make my SLR (35mm film camera w/zoom and macro lenses) obsolete by a long shot-perhaps if I dropped a grand or two on a high-end Nikon or Minolta digital...

The camera does eat batteries, but not as bad as I expected, considering all the moaning and groaning in these reviews. Just buy an inexpensive NiMH charger and eight rechargeable batteries. I find my Energizer ACCUrechargeables last much longer than the batteries the camera came with and I'm very happy with them. I also keep a set of Duracells in the camera bag just in case.

The housing has been described as cheap (among other things) but I think it has a good solid feel to it and if you treat it like the somewhat delicate piece of electronic equipment it is, instead of like a football, it will probably last a long time.

I don't have a card-reader or AC adapter yet since I don't see an urgent need for them. The camera works well by itself as a card reader and the transfers are quick (about 4 minutes to transfer a full 128MB card) so I don't think I'll shell out the fifty bucks for the adapter (ouch!).

4-0 out of 5 stars A good camera for those who want more than 1.3 MP
I've used several Olympus cameras at work and they were more expensive than this. I finally decided to buy one for my own personal use and, after reading LOTS of reviews, the D-510 seemed ideal for me. I'm familiar with the Camedia software package and the controls on the camera are similar to the cameras I've been using at work. I have been very pleased with the camera. The photo images are sharp, and some of the menu items have been simplified. My only complaint is that the camera defaults to HQ (high quality, but not super high quality) resolution each time you turn it off. I prefer to shoot in lower resolution SQ, so I get more pictures on the 32 MB SmartMedia card that I bought to go with the camera. (It comes with an 8 MB card, but it's worth the money to upgrade to at least 32 MB. I wish I'd gone ahead and forked over the money and gone up to 64 MB or even the new 128 MB...) Because of that, each time I use the camera I have to fiddle around and re-set the camera for standard quality. On the up side, there are two levels of SQ, two levels of HQ, and two levels of SHQ, for a total of six choices. In the lowest level of SQ mode, the camera can shoot several minutes of decent quality movie footage, which is fun -- but a REAL drain on the batteries. The camera comes with the Camedia software, which is adequate but not great, but it only works on Windows 98 and newer. I tried playing with it at work, where we have Windows 95/97, and it wouldn't work. That's OK, because my home computer has XP, and it does fine. Downloading with the Camedia 2.5 isn't as easy as Olympus says, but fortunately once you find your file, you can create shortcuts to get to your photos. The main thing about this, despite the small but pesky shortcomings, is that the quality of photos is good for such a low-priced camera. If I'd had a couple hundred more to spend I might have bought a better Olympus product, but for those on a smaller budget who want photos of the kids, vacations and other non-professional type photography, this small, solid camera can't be beat. It's as good, if not better, than the Olympus I use at work, which cost twice as much...

4-0 out of 5 stars Versatile Camera
I've used mine for two years so far and gotten alot of mileage out of it. What I really love is that it doesn't require special software to download pictures. When we go to visit, we can just plug in the camera with the USB cable, treat it as a removable disc, and transfer our pictures to our hosts computer before we leave. One downside is that the viewfinder doesn't quite frame the picture accurately. For close-ups, I have to turn on the LED screen or I cut off half of the face...

4-0 out of 5 stars A Real Battery Hog
This camera has served me well and takes beautiful pictures. However I spend so much on batteries. Have tried regular, heavy duty, and alkaline and none last. If I don't take batteries out after each use, they won't last overnight. If one buys this superb camera he might want to use an adapter rather than rely on batteries (unless he has won the lottery).

3-0 out of 5 stars The green of nature is missing from the pictures.
This camera is good overall except 2 major issues I discovered. First, the colors of outdoor shots were not accurate most of the time, specially the trees and grasses never looked as green in the pictures as in real world. I believe this is a major defect. (Another reviewer also mentioned the same problem.) Second problem is the long shutter delay. You will not be able to catch the best moments in life.

I will not buy another Olympus digital camera unless I am convinced they fixed such defects. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars WOW! what a picture
I got this as a gift and I have to say that it is amazing. I didn't even really need to look at the directions, VERY EASY! This camera ia very light, and compact and can fit into also anything, even a small tiny purse! It figures 6 different flash types so you can cut out on "devileyes" and lack of background in the night shots. Very nice! And if youtake pictures like me and have your fingers in front of the lens, there'salmost no way to do this with this camera. Another plus in my book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Olympus Trip Camera
Well I actually won a camera exactly similar to the XB40... this one was the AF4000. I have just begun to use it and I really like it. Getting adjusted to a 35mm from a 110 was a little rocky, but all is well and atleast I dont have to worry about advancing the film. Overall this camera is nice, handy, small (but affective), and actually looks expensive, but isnt. I hope all enjoy the camera because I sure do.

3-0 out of 5 stars good camera but only worked for a year
I got this camera last year for camp. It worked fine. The pictures were good but not the best. The pictures i took with it; didn't look like what it looked like when i took the shot. The pictures also had red eye. I continued to use it until recently when i brought it to camp again. This time the camera skipped pictures on the roll of film, and sometimes didn't work at all even with new batteries in it. Now my camera doesn't work, and i only had it for a year. But what can you ask for when you buy a ... camera.

2-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, but very disappointing fuzzy pictures.
Lousy autofocus - I replaced the camera once and the new one is no better. I am sick of fuzzy, hazy pictures!

I consistently get MUCH better sharpness and quality with the Fuji SnapShot disposable cameras, as well as the Vivitar focus-free cheapie. Same shot, same time, same place they both put this camera to shame!

Even with ASA400 or ASA800 film, the pictures typically turn out too dark and with poor contrast as well. If pictures are worth taking, they really should turn out better than this!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good camera, not as automatic as I'd thought
This is a good camera: takes good pictures and has huge 'viewing lenses' (or whatever those are called) that worked great for my grandmother's bad eyesight. The film is not automatically rolled neither in - when you insert the film you have to take a few pictures and make sure that the small numbers are changing, which can be pretty hard without eye glasses - nor out when there are no pictures left. At least the rolling forward between pictures is automatic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow - Great Deal!
This was a gift purchase for my husband. He needed something simple for his racing adventures, but I wanted quality for the sake of good pictures. This camera delivers both. The view finder is easy to see through, which is great for someone with poor vision like my husband.

The camera is small, easy to use, and easy to load with 35 mm film. Automatic advance and flash make it perfect for the novice, and takes the hassle out of candid shots.

We do not have any complaints about this camera. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great camera for the price
The Olympus D-150 is an excellent entry level digital camera. It has most of the major features that is needed to do general purpose photography, whether it's computer based (web/email) or print based (great pics upto 5x7), with the ease of use of "point and shoot, auto everything" technology found on most "traditional" 35mm cameras. All features are easily accessible from the menu system and there are quick access buttons for flash and marco zoom modes. The D-150 is is one of the few digital cameras in it's price class that has optical zoom (3X) which is far better than digial zoom (the D-150 also has 2X digital zoom for upto 6X zoom). The included 8MB Smartmedia chip is small and you need to get at least a 16MB chip to do any serious shooting(the memory chips are not that expensive). The 1.5in LCD display is handy for precise framing of your subject. Also, buy the Lithium batteries!!! Do not buy the Duracel or Energizer or other alkalines unless you are desparate. It's worth the $10 (19.99 for two packs) to buy the Lithium battery pack. They last considerably longer than alkalines, especially when using the LCD display. Unless you have Photoshop or MS Office's Photo Viewer or equivilant, the software on the CD is useless except for PC driver support since the pics are jpeg format. If you're using a Mac (especially G4 w/OS 9.x and higher), you don't even need the CD for the drivers thanks to it's USB connectivity. Make sure your USB ports are working properly and try not to connect the camera through a hub or keyboard on both platforms. All in all it is a nice, "fun", little camera and takes great images for 1.3 megapixals. The D-150 is highly portable (unlike the high end Sony Mavicas...) and is feature packed for $300. Truly a "Best Buy".

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice little camera
I am no photography expert and this is my first digital camera. I agonized over this purchase for several hours reading all the reviews I could find. This seemed like a good all-round camera for the price. I rather get the impression that in camera terms you get what you pay for.

I think that this camera represents very good value for money. If you want to put pictures on the web or email them then this camera certainly does an excellent job. The software that comes with the camera is not great, but then you just plug it in and you can access the images using Windows Explorer (the camera is recognized as a removable hard disk).

I would say that indoor pictures in low light taken with flash are not too bad, however I understand that the flash is weak on many digital cameras, and this one is no exception. I bought a 32Mb memory card, which can store 35 really high quality or 99 medium quality pictures, which I think is more than enough. That card cost ...and medium quality is 1280 x 960 in 24bit, which is more than enough for my purposes.

I have not tried to print the pictures out in any way, but I am a web designer and so really I only want pictures in computer form for web or email use. All in all I am quite impressed. There are a few minor shortcomings but generally if you want high quality digital pictures for a reasonable cost this would be a great buy. If you want awesome printable pictures that beat a quality 35mm camera, you're going to have to spend a little more I think.

5-0 out of 5 stars for the money, there is no match
For a first camera, I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's small, durable, and takes great photos. The interface is easy to use and the photos it produces are printable quality.

Sure, if you want to spend a few hundred dollars more, you will get a better camera. But, if you want something simple, with an optical zoom, this is the camera. Photos print out fantastically (with the proper paper and printer, of course), and they are great to use for online purposes as well. Add on a pack of rechargable AA batteries for it (or any camera), and a larger memory card, and you're set to go forever.

4-0 out of 5 stars Camera Size is Perfect!
We love the fact that this camera is so tiny. I can just toss it in my purse & it even often fits in my pocket. It's a great camera. Our only complaints are that it has problems with unusual lighting (pictures aren't as good inside, but can be doctored up in a photo editing program) & the menu system is tedious. I don't know if all digital cameras have the lighting problems. It's also slow to take a picture, but I've heard that is true of all digital cameras (I think?). Highly recommend for the price though!!

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent Quality for a small price!
This is an excellent camera, pictures are perfect, Olympus has one of the best digital cameras in the market today. Very satisfied with my purchase. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The compact Olympus Stylus Zoom 115 QD camera has a precisionautofocusing system that ensures sharp, clear pictures. Its fullyautomatic operations include autofocus, auto exposure, film loading, and film rewind. The 3x, 38-115mm zoom lens lets the photographershoot everything from wide-angle views to telephoto close-ups.

The variable-power flash provides soft illumination, giving your subject natural skin tones even at close range. When your subject is backlit or under artificial light, the color-balancing flash fires automatically. In night portrait mode, the camera automatically lowers the shutter speed to ensure that both foreground and background are properly lit for night scenes. If your subject is in both bright light and dark shadow, the fill flash softens the sharp contrasts, giving the scene a more natural look. However, in those cases when flash photography is not permitted, or if you want to capture that "moody" special effect using just available light, a flash-off mode is also included. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Little Wonder!
The Olympus Stylus Zoom 115 QD is wonderful. After deciding I didn't want to take all my SLR equipment on my cruise I bought this camera only one day before leaving. The first roll of film I had developed on the ship to see if I was using the camera correctly. All 24 pictures turned out beautifully, at night, in the rain, inside, and outside. I ended up taking 10 rolls of film on vacation and this camera gave me the freedom I never had with my SLR. The camera has nice styling and is small enough to fit almost anywhere (even in my formal evening purse). Since coming back from vacation I have taken many rolls of film and I am still as impressed. Try it! I don't think that you will be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE MY "ROBO-CAM"
I did a great deal of research before purchasing this camera and I've determined that this little Olympus is a great value for the money. My favorite features? Well, aside from the cool telescoping zoom lens that makes a hi-tech "whirring" sound...the size is perfect (not too big; not too small), film is easy to load, digital read-outs are simple to set and easy to read, buttons are easy to manipulate (for those of us with nails), operation is intuitive and prints are rich and sharp. Anyone can take great pictures with this camera (I've already snapped off 20+ rolls) and enlargements are crisp and true to the original. I'm thrilled with my Olympus and heartily recommend it for anyone seeking a camera with a very good zoom range (35-115), highly-rated lens and elegant, yet sturdy styling. Everyone needs a robo-cam in their camera collection. :-)

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible Close-ups & Flash system
I bought it to take pix at my kid's birth. Every single close-up came out blurry. 100% of them. I also missed several pictures because of the "flash 50 times before taking the darn picture" system. Like most of the new point and shoot autofocus (supposedly) cameras, this one has cumbersome unnecessary technology. What I wouldn't give to have my 1989 Canon SureShot Zoom S back. I didn't know how good I had it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Pictures
The Olympus is a great camera. It has been on many trips with me and not failed me yet. The camera has experienced some mild damage (broken lens cover, crack in viewfinder), and still takes wonderful photos. The clarity and color are wonderful. The available remote control (recommended) allows the person behind the camera to be in the picture!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent camera
I bought a refurb. The camera has all the features including auto load, rewind. It uses Lithium batteries and I am now shooting the 5'th roll without any problems. The picture quality is very good. The zoom is not very effective at long distances and needs careful handling to prevent shake for good pics. The flash is effective under normal distances of 10-12 feet. The camera is robust and all weather as stated. A very good deal for its price.
Buy by all means. ... Read more
