Works great with Windows ME. Needs Linux support.
I plugged my PCMCIA smart media adaptor into my Windows ME box, and it worked perfectly with my 64MB smartmedia memory. My only complaint is that they don't have linux support for it.

Easy to use, almost!
This adapter blows the doors off of other means to get the pictures from your Olympus Camera (for example, the D450Z) back to your computer. My wife uses our HP PhotoSmart P1000 printer to send the pictures back to her desktop, but I wanted something fast to use in the field. Enter the PCMCIA adapter! Simply plug the SmartMedia card in the end (up to 32MB in size) and insert into your Type II slot. It's treated as just another EIDE drive, so you probably already have the drivers available! Transfer rates are phenomenal, and it makes the Olympus "Slide Show" software much nicer to use as a result. Great for those after-the-party pictures at conferences! Be careful, though -- the instructions on the adapter on how to insert the SmartMedia card are accurate, but deceptive; I inserted the chip in upside down (which it will do without complaint, but won't work either) and was confused for a little while. Bag is small but has it's value...
The camera "bag" is not designed to be a camera bag at all. It is designed to be a protector for the camera when you are traveling with it around your neck like a tourist. Not to carry every gadget under the sun. It is perfect, holds spare batteries, card and remote. What more do you want to lug around when you are traveling? It keeps the camera protected well. you can keep the camera in the bag while wearing it around your neck with the neck strap. It also has a clip to attach it to the camera so it hangs right there while taking pictures.

The remote and tripod I use a lot for group photos. Let's you setup the camera and take a picture with YOU IN IT!!! Very usefull at family gatherings. AC adaptor is the thing I use the least, you need a card reader if you are going to do any kind of volume picture taking. Way faster, and easier to use than the serial port connectors. Besides, the camera has such great battery life, why use it? I recommend the kit to everyone. There is a big difference between a camera BAG and a camera CASE!!

A disappointment, to put it mildly
The camera case is a very small carrying case which barely fits the camera, leaving room for almost nothing else. I doubt if I could get the camera strap to fit.

The UV filter is a standard 55mm diameter, much larger than the Olympus lens. It is attached to the camera by means of a two piece adaptor which is a terrible kludge. When installed, the edge of the filter can be seen through the viewfinder, obscuring the view of the subject. There has to be a better solution.

Discarding those items, I am left with an overpriced AC adaptor, a cheap lens cleaning kit (I already have two) and some software which I didn't bother to try. I have no use for the tripod or for the smart media wallet. I am returning the kit and taking a trip to my local camera store.

There were only a few items which interested me in the first place, and those didn't turn out to be of any value. The rest is padding to raise the price of the package. Save your money.

Long Life
I recently purchased an Olympus B-40SU Ni-MH Battery and Charger Set to use with my Olympus C3040. Although I am not an everyday user of my camera, when it is used I almost always use flash (for fill or low lighting). These batteries seem to maintain their charge forever! I have charged them just once in 3 weeks and that was merely a "top off". I use the LED display all of the time and of course have show and tell. This item was well worth the money.

Followup review after 6 months of use
It lost one star is mainly due to the high price.

If you are a heavy user of AA-size rechargeable batteries (both NiMH & NiCd), I suggest you get both Olympus B-40SU and Maha MH-C204F charger. Yeap ... 2 chargers. They work GREAT as partners and one cannot replace the other !!

Let me explain why ...

- B-40SU cannot re-condition the batteries. MH-C204F can. NiCd needs that every once in a while.

- B-40SU cannot be used in a car. MH-C204F can.

- MH-C204F has to charge batteries in pairs. B-40SU can charge 1, 2, 3 or 4 batteries. Very flexible. This is important for FRS users. My Motorola TalkAbout FRS uses 3 AA. You can always try to find a spare battery somewhere to make up a pair. But it is not advisable to rapid charge batteries in different capacity states.

- B-40SU works worldwide. MH-C204F needs different power supply.

- B-40SU does not seem to charge NiCd properly (at least my unit doesn't). MH-C204F charges both NiCd & NiMH well.

I found my twin charger setup works great.

But if you are a light rechargeable battery user and only use 2 (e.g. Kodak DX3500) or 4 (e.g. Olympus C-3xxx) NiMH AA for your digital camera, this unit may be a bit too pricey. There are better alternatives out there.

Now on to the batteries. The batteries coming with my B-40SU are rated at 1600mAh. This 'used to be' considered high capacity but now 1700 and 1800mAh are available. However, I do not believe they will make a significant difference in real life use since even 1600mAh lasts quite a long time for my digital camera use. You will have to pay a premium for those 1800mAh. I have used other brands of NiMH batteries in B-40SU and it works just fine.

Great for travel
I have been using my Olympus charger for over three years. I travel and need a dual voltage recharger. This is just about the only dual voltage charger out there - you need a convertor for most. Convertors tend to be heavy and also tend to fail at very awkward times and blow things up when they do so. An especially nice feature is that there is a cord that you use for plugging onto the wall. The reason this is so nice is that other chargers that plug directly into the wall rarely stay plugged in or won't plug in when the wall socket is recessed which is so common overseas. This problem is compounded when a plug adapter is used - the weight of the recharger and batteries pulls it right out of the adapter/wall. I have had to prop them up with books and coffee cups to keep things plugged in. The cord eliminates all of this. I would not trade this charger for anything.

Outlasts All
I've had my Olympus charger and the same batteries for over 6 years now...and they have outlasted 3 sets of Panasonic, Kodak and Everready rechargables....that I've had as backup sets...I won't buy any other brand for my digital camera again...these are by far the best

Excellent!
The Olympus B-50SU 4 AA NiMH Batteries and Charger is the best! I used other "low cost" chargers and batteries which were completely useless after only a few months. The Olympus charger and batteries are still going strong! I would highly recommend this product for any camera which uses the AA NiMH batteries. I use them in my Minolta Dimage 5.

Please stay away from olympus's overprised accessories.
Rayovac has a one hour charger with 4 independeent charge circuits (can cahrge unqually used batteries or uneven capacities without over/under charging some of theM)) for the same price as this (w/ batteries). GP has 2000mah batteries. These batteriees are 1700mah. Acessories that I've had interest in that has olympus brand is 50% more expensive than generic brands of the same quality. Olympus has great cameras. Buy the accesories from another brand, cheapeer, higher quality. Oh yeah this is a dumb charger also. That means batteries get overcharged and that substantially reduces their life. You can buy rapid (4-5 hrs charge time), dumb chargers for [$$$]

True international charger
This charger accepts any input voltage from 100-240 V, so it operates anywhere in the world. There may be others out there that can do this also, but I have not found any. Even the exterior packaging on these chargers do not list the line voltage.
I have taken the charger with me throughout the world and it works flawlessly. Unlike some of the universal chargers for camcorders which tend to overheat and undercharge batteries when operated on 240V, this one works fine. It is not as fast as some of the "smart chargers", but you should always carry an extra set of batteries with you when you are out for the day anyway.
The only reason I did not give if 5 stars is that the design is not super compact. The line cable unplugs, but takes extra space in your luggage.

Very fast
How much can you say about a battery recharger? It's fast, has worked in a dozen countries at least, had it 3 years and not a single problem. Recommend without hesitation.

The picture does not go with this product!
If you do a search or look on the Olympus website, you will see an actual picture of what this product looks like. Material is ballistic nylon - predominate color is black with gray. This bag has two storage pockets on the side and a small one on top Includes belt loop and a sholder strap. Size of bag fit my Olympus C-2100uz nicely with the zoom lens facing down. This works with the Camedia E-10, perfectly.
On the E-10, this flash is completely automatic. It adjusts appropriately throughout the zoom range. The light spread is also extremely even from edge to edge, and in the corners. The only reason I don't give it 5 starts is that is hasn't the recycle speed of many flashes in this price range. But, you can't beat the quality at any price. I also love the pivoting head. Plus, it also works in tandem with the built-in flash. A real advantage.

The ONLY flash for the C-3030
The FL-40 flash is the ONLY flash that really works correctly with the C-3030Z camera. If you buy it however be sure and also get the FL-BK01 handle and FL-CB01 cable! Since the 3030 doesn't have a hot shoe like the C-2500 does. (they'll set you back another $90 or so!) This flash upgrades your digital camera for some serious photography, it is adjustable in 30 degree increments for 270 degree pointing (full right to straight back going counter clockwise). Vertically it has five steps, 0, 45, 60, 75, 90 degrees (straight up). Comes with a "wide angle" lens (more disperse flash). Recharge time is ok with 4 NiMh batteries but I was disappointed at the lack of an external power jack. For long setups it would be nice to run from wall power. The on-board sensor works with the camera's flash in a zillion ways, the display is easy to read and setup is pretty straight forward. With the handle and flash the camera gets to be a bit bulky. ... Panorama feature is nice, but may not be worth price premium
SmartMedia is sold under several brands. Olympus branded SmartMedia allows you to take "panorama" shots. Essentially, you take multiple shots while making sure to overlap edges. You then reassemble these multiple shots using the "Camedia" software that came with your Olympus camera. The difference is that when an Olympus brand SmartMedia card is used, your digital camera keeps exposure settings constant across these multiple shots; which makes for a consistent panorama when you reassemble the individual shots via your computer.

This is a nice feature, but not a feature most of us use often. If you are going to purchase multiple SmartMedia cards, you might be able to do with just one or two Olympus brand cards - especially since they cost more than other brands. I use two 32Mb other brand cards, and save my two 8Mb Olympus brand cards for when panorama shots present (since you can switch the cards out at anytime - unlike traditional camera film). ...
