5-0 out of 5 stars A Premium Card... well worth the premium price
It didn't take long after I purchased my camera to realize that the included 8MB card was just too small. Was undecided between 64MB and 128MB until I saw the price of this Olympus 64MB at Amazon. I think I'll still get another (few?) 128MB cards from other manufacturers, but this one Olympus 64MB card is just excellent (for panoramas). Don't really mind paying the premium for the panorama capability.

2-0 out of 5 stars VERY disappointing...
First, let me say that I LOVE my Olympus Digital camera (460 D Zoom) and I love my Viking IntelliFlash USB Flash Memory Reader, both of which I bought... They are fantastic products, and for a beginner in the digital photography world, they are simple, yet offer speed and quality you will want to have as you get more and more involved in your hobby. I have bought a 32mb SanDisk Smart Media card, and I love that too. I decided to invest in the 64mb card because I started taking pictures at the higher quality selection on my camera. What I can't figure out is why my camera cannot select the higher quality mode when this memory card is in it. I am REALLY disappointed. Sure, I can take almost 1000 low quality photos with this card; I know that's amazing. But, I specifically bought this card for high quality (actually medium quality since it's only a 1.3 megapixel camera). I just don't understand why this wasn't stipulated in the product description.

4-0 out of 5 stars I Want my Panoramic Pictures
OK, so the olympus cards are a little on the pricey side, but you definitly get a quality product in return. So the price is the only real obstical preventing a five star rating. I got the card because it does support the panoramic function on my Olympus camera. Imagine that, the Olympus SmartMedia cards are the only ones that are compatible with the Olympus Camera's panoramic function. That said, its worth paying the extra money if you have an olympus camera with a panoramic function, but wait for it to go on sale, that's what I did.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reformat exorsices woes
With both a Olympus 64MB card and now a SanDisk 128MB card there's no fear of ever running out of media space even when traveling. The 64MB will handle 128 HQ shots (high def.), 665 SQ shots (standard def.) on my Olympus D-490 Zoom (2.1 Megapixel). The SanDisk 128MB Smart Media card twice as many. SHQ (Super-high quality) slows things down a bit.
The Olympus card started acting up a week ago: It would only hold 23 standard shots. Two calls to Tech support did not reveal a high degree of service and I learned they do not warrant the card. Fortunately reformating fixed the problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Price For This Card - Lots Of Pics
I'm no Ansel Adams - but I wanted a good quality card that was going to last a while. My 8MB was useless for quantity. I bought this 64MB (and another later) and found I could get:

664 SQ (Standard Quality) Photos-good only for web pages
199 HQ (High Quality) Photos-good enoug for small prints
71 SHQ (Super High Quality) Photos-great for good prints up to 5 X 7 inches.

This does not include 'panaramic shots', which take up more memory. I also shopped around and found that Amazon had the best prices. Of course, the 128MB card stores more pics, but the price jump was significant.

Don't worry about 'refurbished' media cards. They are just fine, cheaper and have the same warranty as 'new' cards.

I just shoot my pics and mail them off when I am on vacation. I never have to worry about getting my camera stolen or misplaced and losing my pictures. What else do you need? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This add on can make a big difference
By using a flash bracket and cord (of course you'll need one!), you can move the flash up and away from the lens. This will create a more natural appearance in the shadows of your subject. I have always had problem with flash photography, your wife may roll their eyes when they see you with an E-10, Bracket and an FL-40 ... but it really will make a big difference in your flash pictures. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A Fine Little Case
This is a great little case! In reading all the negative reviews for this case, I see that in every instance, the unhappy party was trying to use it for the WRONG camera. The add calls it a "C-series" case, but specifically says it is for the C-20X0, C-30X0, & C-40X0 series cameras. The major complaint was the case was too small. The case is small -- very small, but so is my C-4040 camera, and it fits just fine! This is not a gadget bag, it is a camera CASE, and it holds my C-4040 with neck strap attached and lens cap in place, four spare AA size batteries, the remote control, an extra SmartMedia card or two, and the MINI-instruction pamphlet. What more do you want a camera CASE to do? (If you must take along a remote flash unit or a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, its gadget bag time for you.) This case is completely in keeping with what I have come to expect from a product bearing the Olympus name. It is well made, the leather is soft and supple, fits the camera (for which it was designed) like a glove, has room for essential accessories, and is, in general, top notch stuff.

4-0 out of 5 stars It does what it's suppose to do!
I was shopping for the Cannon C-4040 when I first noticed this product. I seen immediately that it was designed to fit snugly around the camera and has little pouches to safely store your digital film. After value shopping for a digital camera, I purchased a Sharp 4.2 MegaPixel camera and bought this Olympus Leather case to provide the maximum amount of protection to my investment! My new 4 MegaPixel Sharp Camera (VE-CG40U) fits perfectly and I am quite pleased with the protection it provides.

Accidents happen, this is quality protection!

1-0 out of 5 stars On-line Specifications Not Accurate (no 7X compatability)
The product is not combatible with the C7X (C720) cameras although it is advertised as such. The product spec. delivered with the packaging is accurate, only C2X - C5X. It does not fully close (open on sides) with no camera, the picture is misleading. I will be returning this product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
This case sucks, pure and simple. The camera barely fits in there, the top doesn't stay shut worth a hoot, and there's no room for extra batteries, or much else of anything. The sides and tops are v/ thinly padded, and let's just say the word "synthetic" needs to be inserted in front of leather. The material is of low quality and thin. There is no carry strap, so you must have the strap on your camera, so when you want to take pictures you have to take the camera out of the bag and unhook the catch loop of the bag from the camera strap. If you forget to reattach the loop, and put the camera back in the bag and sling it on your shoulder, prepare on losing the case, because as I said before, the flap doesn't stay closed. This is the reason my case went bye-bye last weekend w/ extra memory cards in it. I look at the positive side and figure at least I can get a good case now. Do yourself a fawor and don't buy this case.

5-0 out of 5 stars C4000 camera case

5-0 out of 5 stars Advanced Amateur leaving 35mm
Switching from 35mm film to digital? This is the system for you unless you are shooting layouts or high def posters for billboards. 4.1 megs with tiff format gets you a 36" x 24" poster size print (Kinko's if you don't have a 4x printer). Use Photoshop to up the definition 300dpi to 600dpi and be prepared to burn a whole CD for your cause. I used to shoot 35mm with fuji 50 with a Nikon F2 and the biggest frek'in lens (f 1.0) that you could buy. I'm so happy with not having to rent a custom color darkroom to get the photos that I want. If you are a low light shooter, you have to play with the camera a bit...easily done with digital, quick feedback. If you shoot speed one disadvantage is the E-10 only goes down to 1/640 sec. I have to admit I rarely used the 1/2000th on my Nikon, unless it was on a sunlit day with my 400mm f2.8 and I needed to "freeze" the shot. Rare with anyone, but outdoor sports photography.

The compliment of lens allows for some very creative shots. In addition, going digital gives you the control of your very own darkroom. Enjoy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Olympus TCON-14B 1.45X Tele Extension Lens for E-10
Overall I like the Extension, however anyone purchasing should be aware of the following;

It is somewhat heavy!

It uses very large filters.

With converter on camera you have to use the maximum zoom or it crops the corners.

Other than those things I am very happy with this

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive chunk of glass!
I'm a big fan of the Olympus E-10, though I've only had it for a short while, because they started from scratch and designed a camera system to take advantage of what works best for digital. Unfortunately [for someone who has a pretty good collection of "traditional" SLR lenses], part of that design is that the lens is not removable. Hmmm . . . what to do for those occasions where you need a tighter shot?

In comes the Olympus 1.45x tele extender, and it is as impressive as the camera itself! I have a fair bit of experience using tele extenders and converters on traditional cameras, so I was prepared to do some give and take -- more give than take. I was quite surprised that this extender actually gives more than it takes! A big, heavy chunk of glass, it [almost completely] retains the speed of the permanent lens, and delivers bright, clear images. Olympus' directions tell you to set the camera control to "extender," and then zoom the permanent lens to full tele; in pradtice, you can get away with about 20mm [equivalent] of play, but then you start to get vignetting (looks like you're shooting through the end of a pipe).

For the price, this is certainly a great value. Even if you don't think you'll need to buy the 3x extender, you will probably find lots of uses for this one -- and the price is low enough that it doesn't hurt [too much!] to buy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars beware not as it seems
Based on the editorial review I bought this lens for my Olympus C-2040 (newer version of the C-2000), however when I got it I realized that this lens is not compatible with the C-2000, C-3000 or any Olympus digital camera other than the E-10. The lens that fits the other camera's is the TCON-14 (this is the TCON-14B). So unless you have a E-10, or want of make your own 43-62 mm adapter tube, this is NOT the lens for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars 203mm on the Camedia E-10
This was made specifically for the Camedia E-10, but will fit many other systems. On the E-10, this is a 203mm fixed lens (as considered in the 35mm film format). Although the base lens is a zoom, when using it with this extender you have to keep it pretty much locked in the full telephoto mode. There is a little play for framing, but any wider than say 180mm and the vignetting starts (viz., begins to look like you're gazing through a pipe). I have a fairly broad experience with extenders. My judgment overall is that they're not worth bothering with - the amount of distortion, chromatic aberrations, flaring, and the lose of lens speed makes them a real trial - IN MOST CASES! In the case of this extender, however, I'm really impressed with Olympus. I think that they probably figured, well we're not offering interchangeable lenses with the E-10, we have to provide outstanding performance in our extenders. And that's exactly what they've done. What I think was the best part of the surprise for me is the speed of this lens, and the others, in that there is almost no reduction. But I wouldn't care that it was fast if I couldn't get a good picture with it. The image brightness and contrast are really superb. When used outdoors, which is where you normally run into trouble with any lens because of the extremes of lighting, I've been very pleased with the performance. Gotta love this lens! I've become a huge fan of the Olympus extenders. For my E-10, I have the 0.08x and the 3x extenders, as well. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It Works Fine, But Olympus Does Not Explain It Adequately
Overall, the unit functions well, but I wish the Olympus Web site or the outside of the package would give a better explanation of the characteristics and use of the cable. Here is such an explanation:

One end of this Olympus FL-CB04 TTL-PC cable is a proprietary socket (with five holes) which fits onto the five-pin external flash terminal on cameras such as the C-2000, C-3000, and C-4000 Zoom series. The other end is PC female to connect to studio strobes and other external electronic flashes. The female PC end looks like a donut in cross-section.

Do NOT get this cable confused with the FL-CB03 PC socket cable, whose PC end is male (i.e., has a central pin). I do not know what the CB03 is used for.

You can't use TTL (through-the-lens metering) with an external flash connected via the CB04. Instead, you need one of the following: (1) a flash meter, (2) a flash with a thyristor to adjust output automatically (such as the Vivitar 285HV), or (3) "experiments" ("bracketing") to determine the correct aperture for a given shot.

3-0 out of 5 stars Is this the cable I need for my Olympus digital camera?
Trying to figure out whether this is the cable you need?
Here's hoping the following excerpt from Olympus document entitled: "DOCUMENT NUMBER 2039 -- EXTERNAL FLASH OR STROBES NOT FIRING WITH OLYMPUS CAMERAS" may help you as it helped me!:

Olympus Cameral Models: C-2040/3000/3030/3040 Zoom, C-2100/C-700 UZ and E-100RS:

The above cameras utilize a 5-pin TTL connector for the external flash connection. The 5-pin TTL connector is designed to control the Olympus FL-40 dedicated flash unit (p/n 200596). To use the FL-40 with these cameras, the optional Olympus FL-CB01 cable (p/n 200 664) and FL-BK01 flash bracket (p/n 200 666) must be used.

The 5-pin TTL connector can also control a PC Sync flash or strobe system by using the optional FL-CB04 flash cable (p/n 200 661). Since this type of flash/strobe is non-dedicated, the photographer will need to manually match the flash output with the camera. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-made, essential for slow shutter speeds!
This is Olympus' proprietary version of the bulb shutter release cable for the E-10. If you do any type of photography that requires slow shutter speeds (including macrophotography and some special effects work), this little item should be among your first accessory purchases. Even if you just do "normal" photography, such as landscapes and portraiture, this will help you achieve better [less blurr-prone] results.

With very slow shutter speeds (and even some within the "normal" range, up to about 1/125), you may introduce blur into your photos -- even using a tripod or setting the camera on the ground -- just by the action of your finger pressing the shutter release button. This problem is solved by using a cable release: the motion of pressing the button is isolated from the camera by the cable. Olympus has, as with its other accessories, given more than I would have expected! This remote cable release allows the user to do a "half-button-press," as with the camera-mounted button, to autofocus and lock in exposure settings. It also has a button lock, which can be engaged for those long "bulb" exposures: the user can lock the shutter open, and then do other things (such as manipulate lighting, reflectors, rotate the barrel of the lens for zoom effects, and so on). There is also a threaded hub on which you can store the cable port cap when in use -- convenient, and nice not to have to worry about misplacing it.

The price is, admittedly, higher than the old stand-by cable or air release used with traditional SLRs, but the convenience, usefulness, and nice little features make it worth the price. If you want to improve the quality of your photos (and especially your macro and slow-speed photos), this is an accessory you must have. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What is actually in this package...
...I took a chance that this was the same product that I saw on the Olympus web site (Olympus part number 200860) and ordered it, and it is. It contains the following items:

1 - Camera bag - this padded bag features a shoulder strap and outside zippered pocket for storage of additional cards or batteries. Width 4.5" x Height 6" x Depth 3.0"
2 - 4 AA Ni-MH (1700 mah) batteries with overnight battery charger
3 - xD/SmartMedia USB Reader/Writer
4 - CAMEDIA 4.0 Pro software

For <... this is a pretty good deal, as many places will charge more than half this amount for the NiMH batteries and charger. Additionally, since my Olympus camera didn't come with a bag, this package makes even more sense.

The USB Smartmedia reader means that I don't have to turn the camera on to read the Smartmedia cards, which will be nice.

...So, if you just bought (or are buying) an Olympus digital camera, you should consider this item. The price is great and you'll need everything in it, anyways. ... Read more
