4-0 out of 5 stars Remote works great, Office Depot even better!
I lost the remote for My Olympus C2500L before I got home with it, it is not very big. Office Depot had a super price, I expected to wait until next Wednesday, but, out pushing the lawn mower today, Saturday, and the Fedex truck pulled up. WOW!
Only thing with the remote is that I wish it was just a bit more powerful, and worked across wider angles. Other than this, it is a super handy accessory for what may be the greatest small camera ever. Office Depot's Bobbie Lay packed this thing so good it was bomb proof. Thanks, Folks

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful assessory
It's a useful assessory for my Olympus c-730 camera (it also works with a few others). It allows you to take vibration free pictures on a tripod as well as getting yourself into the picture. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I think it should be (and expected it to be) included with the camera! I also had another remote control for an Olympus Centurion APS SLR and was disappointed that that remote wouldn't work with the c-730. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be able to!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful Tool
Great for group shots like family reunions. With this tool you can make sure that you are not left out. Self portraits are also possible. I don't think the remote is compatible with all Olympus equipment. Check your manual to see if it is offered as an option.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great add on.
First check if your camera will work with it. If it does great!!! Get it its great for taking pictures of yourself, or time lapsed photography (puting camera in tripod and you sitting comfortably in a chair), taking pictures without people knowing he he. Also good for bird watching, aim the camera, (manual focus recomended for faster shooting) wait for the bird and picture! It's so small, don't loose it, if you tend to loose small things attach it to the camera with velcro, you wont notice its there.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Sophisticated Lens - Compact and FAST!
Effectively, a 420mm fixed lens that's very fast. I believe that this was made specifically for the Camedia E-10. It comes in a nice little foam-filled case with two lens covers, a lens hood, and the support arm. Assembling the lens with the camera is fairly unorthodox in that it doesn't actually afix to the lens. It's held by the support-arm quite firmly against the lens, with a rubber gasket to keep stray light out of the path.

Extenders are usually not very good. Speed is almost always sacrificed, and distortion is almost always increased to the point that you wish you hadn't bothered. BUT, I can't say enough about THIS extender. It's of very high quality. The contrast and overall brilliance of the image produced by this lens is outstanding. And it really doesn't have to be - even at this price - when considering the performance of its competitors.

I've made many hand-held shots, with good success. But, I'd suggest the use of a good tripod anyway.

My favorite part of this whole thing is, with quick adjustments made to the lens, the auto-focus feature of the camera works perfectly with this lens! Plus!, if you happen to own the 1.45 extender, it can be attached to the front of this extender (with a step-up ring) to give you an astoundingly fast and high-quality 609mm lens! that's just as fast as your 420mm!

If you own the E-10, and you have occasion to use a very long lens, there is no reason to fear adding this wonderful lens to your system.

This is a very sophisticated lens for any market.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really cool lens!
A friend of mine has this, and I have the Olympus E-10 as well, so he's given me a chance at using this lens - grudgungly - I don't think he wanted to give it up for even an afternoon! And I must say I can't blame him. This is one sweet piece of equipment!

I'm female, so I don't have a lot of upper body strength, although I am fairly young. This lens is so compact that I found that I really had no trouble using it, even without a tripod.

Great images, too. They're mostly sharp and clear. The ones that aren't are my fault for not using a tripod. The E-10 has a low maximum shutter speed of 1/640th of a second - if that were abit higher, I think all my pictures would have come out (I spent the day at the zoo, taking frameable shots of all my favorite little friends: leoperd, camel, bird, and jiraffe, etc.

This is a great lens, and it's so small, even I can use it!

420mm!

5-0 out of 5 stars Get the correct support arm.
This is a great lens that I am pleased to have! All of my shots have been right on the mark, they have all been hand held even while shooting from a rocking boat. Be advised that if you use a lithium-polymer battery grip, you will need the tcon-sa2 support arm instead of the arm that comes with the lens.

5-0 out of 5 stars bd Told Me Two Things I Did'nt Know
Yeah!

I love it that you can actually add a connection lens TO a connection lens. I'm definately going to try that.

My Dad already has the whole E-10 system. He loves it - but he doesn't know about the adding of the 200mm - I can't wait to suprize him with it!

The second thing, I never really thought about it, but this really is a sophisticated lens. I've seen the way my Dad fauns over it. I think he's in love with it! So bd must be right!

I think I'd better start collecting the E-10 system myself. I've been using some 35mm slr's that my Dad gave me ever since I was little - I love photography. But the whole digital photography world seems so cool!

Thanks Dad! Thanks bd - whoever you are.

love,

Karen :) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent card - excellent price
Soon after I bought my Olympus D450 Digital Zoom over a year ago, I went and bought the Olympus 32MB Smart Media card to compliment the 8 MB card that came with the carmera. I used the 8 MB card for the very first few pictures I took, then replaced it with the 32 MB card as soon as it arrived. That 8 MB card has not seen the inside of my D450 since.

There's only one thing I ask of a memory card - that it work. Not just the first time, but day after day, month after month, year after year. My one year old plus Olympus 32 MB card has doen exactly that. It works flawlessly with my D450, and my HP Photosmart P1100 printer/card reader has no problems with it either. I have taken thousands of pictures using nothing but my 32MB card for recording images, and it is still works as well as the day I bought it.

While Olympus traditionally charges a LOT for their accessories, their Smart Media cards are now very competively priced when compard to San Disk and Viking. Personally, I like buying Olympus brand accessories for the simple reason that they always work with my Olympus camera! And if they should fail for some odd reason, Olympus will stand behind their products, which is why I purchased an Olympus to begin with.

Just recently, due to the very nice price available from Amazon.com, I bought a second Olympus 32 MB card to serve along side the old warhorse that been in my camera for a year and a half. A single 32 MB card isn't quite enough for vacation photography, so I hope to be a bit more shutter happy now that I have the second card.

For all you Olympus digital fans out there, this is the Smart Media card you need!

5-0 out of 5 stars Check your camera first!
Today with lot's of storing media running around, you must be careful into choosing the right one that's for you, and also, you must check your camera manual so you can know up to how much memory it can stand, some time ago I bought a polaroid PDC-640 cam, and it wont take smartmedia cards larger than 8MB, so be careful in choosing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice
Before you buy this product, make sure it's compatible with the camera you want to use it in. This 32mb smart media card is a nice fat batch of memory for storing your digital camera's photos. It's 4 times the size of memory from the 8mb that consumers often get with their digital cameras. Depending on the settings in which you snap your pictures, you can fit up to approximately 200 photos on this card! I've maxed out and re-used my card dozens of times and I have never encountered any problems with it. Assuming I snap a good photo with my camera, the images are stored in their brilliant, colorful and clear quality. This card (which is the size of a quarter) is very reliable and not difficult to use. Don't be dissuaded by the price, it's worth it considering that you'll be re-using it many times unlike regular film.

I wanted to buy a new smart media card for my digital camera. I thought the 32mb cards would be great. Only thing is my camera, 2 years old, won't support the card. It will only recognize cards up to 16 mb. Please be sure to check your cameras guidlines before purchasing accessories! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Ditto
The only thing I can add to the previous review is that the Smartmedia was well packaged. There is a statement with the card that says "The Smartmedia has a limited life span, and will eventually become incapable of performing WRITE/ERASE functions after long-term use. When this happens please replace it with a new one." If this is the case will all Smartmedia cards then what is long-term? I've only has mine about 3 weeks so far.

4-0 out of 5 stars Might not be worth the price premium
SmartMedia is sold under several brands. Olympus branded SmartMedia allows you to take "panorama" shots. Essentially, you take multiple shots while making sure to overlap edges. You then reassemble these multiple shots using the "Camedia" software that came with your Olympus camera. The difference is that when an Olympus brand SmartMedia card is used, your digital camera keeps exposure settings constant across these multiple shots; which makes for a consistent panorama when you reassemble the individual shots via your computer.

This is a nice feature, but not a feature most of us use often; for example, on a recent two week trip, I took 220 shots of which only 12 were panorama. If you are going to purchase multiple SmartMedia cards, you might be able to do with just one or two Olympus brand cards - especially since they cost more than other brands. I use two other brand SmartMedia cards, and save my Olympus brand cards for when panorama shots present (since you can switch the cards out at anytime - unlike traditional camera film).

Also to realistically determine what the price premium is, check prices for Olympus and other brand SmartMedia not only here, but also at other popular commercial sites. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wide angle lens on a C2100UZ
I agree very much with Mr. Lassiter's comments. I would just like to add a little info. about using this lens with the Olympus C-2100UZ, because I found the scant information that is available a little ambiguous.
Yes, you can use it with a C-2100UZ. You dont need a CLA-1 adapter, but you do need to shell out for a 49-55mm step-up ring as the one supplied is 43-55mm.
Hope this helps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oly WCON-08E Wide Angle with 3040Z: A Short Report
I didn't "do the homework" on this lens before buying it, and even though it 'only' drops the focal length by .8, I'm kind of glad I went ahead and tried it versus some of the other alternatives.

In my research after-the-fact, I've seen many say that it's difficult to significantly shorten the focal length without accepting image quality that ranges from poor to just plain awful.

The good news:

Image quality to MY untrained eye seems identical to that provided by that of the camera's onboard lens alone.

The bad news:

Everyone familiar with the lens noted the obvious issues of viewfinder and flash blockage. There's no way to mount anything this big without dealing with those issues.

Other observations:

It's a lens that's aesthetically pleasing to handle and the user certainly gets a sense of the quality of workmanship that went into the lens.

Value observations:

It's not the kind of lens you'd recommend as one of the first purchases on a tight budget. I had at first thought of returning it because of the modest (35->28) improvement offered, but as I evaluated the results and read about other lenses, I decided that a near flawless .8 was probably worth more than shorter focal lengths with obvious problems.

The lens also came with the Oly 43-55mm step up ring, which I needed to buy anyway for the B-300 I'm also getting from B&H, currently on back order.

The Net: I'm keeping the lens. If your camera has an even longer "shortest focal length" then you'll likely appreciate the lens and use it more often.

And a final curiosity:

Indoors, mounted on tripod with a fixed aiming point, the 3040Z would routinely fire the flash with the built in lens, and would NOT use the flash with the wide-angle mounted.

This came as a surprise, since I'd read that adding lenses usually results in LOSS of light to the camera. If anything I might have guessed the opposite result flash wise, even though the lens is advertised as working 'without reducing aperture'. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Adapter for all digital Olympus cameras that use 4 AAs
After reading the other posts, I reconfirmed that this adapter will work on all digital Olympus filmless cameras that use 4 AA batteries (including the C-3040). The URL to verify this is http://www.olympusamerica.com/accessory.asp?accessory=9 . On most of my electronic do-dads I make my own power supplies using various equipment lying around (I do electronics for a living), but when you're plunking down several hundred dollars for a good camera, it's wise to play it safe and use only what the manufacturer recommends.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Adapter for the Olympus C series digital cameras!!
This is a high quality adapter that does exactly what it is suppose to do and that is power the Olympus C-2000 and 3000 series of digital cameras. I use it to power my camera (a C-2040Z) while I learned how to use the camera's LCD screen and many other camera features without wasting my batteries. I also use this power cord to download my photos to my PC. A card reader would be nice as you could leave it plugged into the PC and simply insert the memory card from the camera. That way you don't use the camera batteries at all. However, I bought this AC adapter to (1) take with me on trips away from my PC and my card reader would not be available. So, I might need an AC power supply, and: (2) to power the camera to display (view and review) photos on a television or monitor for long periods of time. You can save the cost of this admittedly pricey but quality adapter, by getting the card reader, or perhaps a floppy disk adapter card instead. You could then easily view your photos on your PC monitor without using the camera batteries at all. However, if I am away from my PC (and card reader), I can use the adapter to take my time reviewing my photos directly on the camera's LCD screen or via a television set on distant photo shoots. That way, I don't have to worry about draining my batteries. So, it is really a matter of personal preference. Nevetheless, this adapter does exactly what it is suppose to do and that is to power the Olympus C series of cameras. I don't know about the compatibiliy of this adapter with other cameras. If you want to use this adapter with another camera, then it would be worthwhile to first check with the Olympus Corporation to find out about the compatibility of this adpater with other cameras. Still, if you envision yourself needing to keep your OLy C series digital camera turned on for long periods of time (and you want to save batteries), then this adapter could be the answer.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for C-770 model
Although Amazon.com recommends this specific adaptor for the Olmpus C-770 Ultra Zoom model camera, Olympus's site seems to disagree. (...) You will see that you actually need the Digital Camera AC Adapter (D-7AC) for the C-770 model.
General advice is thus to doublecheck on the manufacturer's site before you buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pricey, but does the job beautifully
And besides, I figured it was worth the cost as a small "insurance" that it would be compatible with the C-4000. Wouldn't want to burn out a fine camera! My only other somewhat negative comment is that the cord could be a little longer. It's only six feet, and that makes it a bit tricky to maneuver around for family shots on Christmas morning or a birthday party, etc., but an extension cord is an easy fix.

3-0 out of 5 stars Olympus D-40Z (& other 2 battery cameras) Beware!
This is not the adapter you want if you own the D-40Z or other 2 battery camera!!! Somewhere in the search process, this adapter is recommeded for the Olympus D-40Zoom camera (a 2 battery camera). Instead, you want the "Olympus E-7AU" AC Adapter which is a 3-volt adapter to match the camera (not this C-7AU which is 6v). ... Read more
